It was a nightmare dealing with this title company. They are very unprofessional in how they handle themselves and their business. By referring them to my client for a real estate closing in December, it has cost me $450 out of pocket and a very unhappy client. Throughout the closing process, I was not able to reach the settlement agent Rosie Blok. You have to go through Ft Knox to reach a live person! After closing, I found out that they did not charge my client the standard brokerage fee of $450 and blamed me for not telling them about it. They ASSUMED that I was going to pay for it instead of doing their due diligence. When I addressed the issue, they actually went after my client for it instead of compensating me. How would you like to close on a transaction and have the title company send you an email 2 weeks later saying you owe your real estate agent $450? To make matters worse, my client got a call 1.5 months later from his insurance company saying home insurance policy payment was about to lapse due to non-payment from the settlement company (Guess who, Equititle!). When he addressed the issue, did they take accountability? Of course not. They blamed it on the loan officer (who has been in business for over 20 years and never had to do this). As a matter of fact, the same loan officer and I closed on a different transaction that very same day without any discrepancies. When I finally reached Gary Fuller, the managing attorney for this company (because he never voluntarily called me himself), he was arrogant and condescending and never apologized or offered to compensate me for my loss. Do yourself a favor, do not choose Equititle for your settlement services if you value responsiveness, good customer service and accountability. There are more professional title companies out there who are ethical and actually have live people you can communicate with. read more
