I have been scheduled for this surgical procedure since the beginning of May to replace my pain…read morepump. I arrived for my surgery today and checked in at 11:00 for a 1:00 procedure just to be told that my procedure was rescheduled for June 12 at another location. The front desk at the surgery center said that the doctor's office was supposed to call me. I pulled out my phone and checked to see if I had any missed calls, text messages or emails and there was n record of their contacting me at all. I'm very frustrated and disappointed in this office. When we don't show up for an appointment we get charged a no-show fee, but when they mess up we just have to accept it. No reimbursement for time, travel, gas or the inconvenience of someone else having to take off from work to drive me because a driver is required for the procedure. I called the office to talk to someone and was put on hold for a while and then I asked to speak to the office manager and they never connected me to one. How do you just reschedule someone without verifying with them first...don't you check your records to make sure that the patient has been notified and is aware of a change? I think they should pay for my gas driving up here and for my daughter taking half a day off to be my driver. When they have to be accountable for their mistakes, they will be more diligent and responsible for making sure everything is correct and everyone is aware of what is going on. Okay, I just got a call from the office and I'm really pissed now ...I was told that they get busy and have a lot on their plate and things sometimes get forgotten. Is it really okay for something like rescheduling a surgery gets forgotten? I was al told that the doctor won't be able to call me...the assistants call the patient. When will the patient ever be prioritized????

Years ago I had seen Dr. Castillo for bunion surgery. It was a great experience. Recently I…read moresuspected I have plantar fasciitis and went to see them again and I was hooked up with Dr. Olenchek. I got an x-ray, spoke with him for about 5 minutes, and was sold a VERY expensive foot brace which wasn't disclosed to me at the time. They are doing very shady things with their billing. My insurance company even agrees. The billing department is staffed by people who barely speak English and it's very hard to understand them effectively. So they are charging me almost $300 for this foot brace which costs about $30 on Amazon and they will not let me return it or give a more reasonable price. I paid nearly $300 the day I was there then received a bill for another $300 something. I guess they figured "she's a good payer - send her another bill". They REFUSE to work with me on this. So I'm out over $600 in total so far to speak with Dr. Olenchek for 5 minutes and for a ridiculously expensive foot brace they totally scammed me on. AVOID!

They have consistently provided superb service and follow-through, so I recommend this location to anyone who is looking for a PCP. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I missed an appointment due to an emergency, called them beforehand to let them know, and they said it would be enough since it was an emergency. Called to reschedule, they said I never called so I'd have to pay. Asked them to check their system, they didn't find evidence of my call. I called back to reschedule again, the said they found the notes in their system, but I'd have to appeal formally. I asked them what proof was needed, and they said I'd just have to make the claim that I had emergency surgery. So I asked what's the difference between now and then, since I had already done that and what would constitute as proof to waive the fee. They couldn't really answer, transferred me to billing and billing said they couldn't do anything, I'd have to talk to the practice. I asked billing to get on the call with me and the practice, and they said they would, but they did a simple transfer instead. When I finally agreed to pay and appeal later, they didn't have the appointment I needed. One big circus, wasting everyone's time, over 25 dollars.

I broke my foot earlier this year and had visited another podiatrist who quickly recommended…read moresurgery. I visited TSAOG and Dr. Hughes for a second opinion. I immediately felt at ease with both the location and visit. I saw Dr. Hughes at both the Ridgewood and Med Center locations. Both facilities were well-maintained and welcoming. I appreciated the time Dr. Hughes spent in answering my questions and I felt confident that he was prescribing the best care possible. I also appreciated his plan for not immediately recommending surgery and instead planned on taking new x-rays three weeks later to ensure recovery was progressing as expected. It would have been very easy to say "surgery is needed" as an easy way to get paid, so it made me feel I was truly being valued as a patient and with the best care in mind vs. making money off of me. After two follow-up visits with X-rays, he confirmed my foot was healing as expected and no surgery was needed. Now, 4 months post-injury, my foot is fully functional again and I know that wouldn't have been the case if I didn't trust my gut and get a second opinion from Dr. Hughes and TSAOG. Would absolutely use again if ever needed.

I always try to give providers grace because everyone has difficult days, and my first appointment…read morewith Dr. Marx left me feeling like he was preoccupied. My follow-up visit fell even more short of expectations. I sat in the waiting room for 1.5 hours in the middle of my workday before being seen. What was most frustrating wasn't even the wait itself, it was the complete lack of basic courtesy. Not once did anyone acknowledge the delay, and Dr. Marx couldn't even be bothered to say, "Sorry for the delay." That would have taken two seconds and shown at least some respect for a patient's time. Once I was finally seen, the appointment lasted about five minutes. We reviewed the CT scan, and when I asked questions about vitamins and supplements that might help with healing, he seemed annoyed that I was asking at all. The interaction felt rushed, and dismissive. I essentially received the same advice as before: stay off of it and don't do anything dumb. What makes this experience particularly confusing is that several younger women in my office recommended Dr. Marx and spoke very highly of him. They described him as attentive, thorough, and willing to spend time with patients. Their experiences sound nothing like mine. I have no explanation for the stark difference, but it was significant enough that it left me wondering why the level of care and attention seemed so vastly different. Dr. Marx may be a skilled surgeon, but bedside manner matters. Respecting a patient's time matters. Taking a few minutes to answer questions matters. As someone dealing with multiple fractures and trying to understand my recovery, I left both visits feeling more like an inconvenience than a patient. I cannot recommend him based on my experience.
