Unfortunately, our experience with the venue staff and organizers was disappointing. Although they…read moreinitially came across as very helpful and attentive, that was not our experience during the actual event.
One of the first issues was that when they made the first announcement, they said a different name that was not the quinceañera's name. Then came the food service. We prepared and paid for the food ourselves, yet our guests were told they were not allowed to go back for seconds. We also did not like that guests were called up table by table instead of simply announcing that the food was ready and allowing people to eat when they wanted. I understand that we never specifically talked about how the food would be served beforehand, but they were very insistent on doing it that way. The women serving the food also appeared visibly unhappy and unwelcoming. Multiple guests actually commented to us about their attitude and how uncomfortable it felt.
We specifically hired waitstaff with the understanding that two of them would help throughout the event and with cleaning. That did not happen. At the beginning of the party, I was personally walking around picking up trash because the staff were not doing it. All of the servers helped serve the meal, but after that, we barely saw them doing anything for the remainder of the event. When we brought this up, we were told that we had not hired a bartender. We are fully aware that we did not hire a bartender, but we had previously been told that two of the waitstaff could help serve whiskey before the party. That never happened either.
The DJ was another major disappointment, especially considering how much we paid for the venue's DJ service. I do want to be fair and acknowledge that we were running behind schedule, which was our fault, and we did not provide the songs for the quinceañera dances as early as we should have. However, once we finalized everything, the DJ himself wrote down the correct order. Despite that, when it was time for the dances, the wrong songs were played for the wrong people who were supposed to be dancing with the quinceañera.
I also gave them a playlist when I arrived, and NOT A SINGLE SONG from that playlist was played. Only a few songs--maybe three--that guests personally requested during the party were played. I asked about the playlist again and was told they were "trying," but nobody ever communicated to me that there was a problem or explained why the music I had specifically requested could not be played.
What made the experience more frustrating was the communication. Whenever I approached the gentleman in charge with a question or concern, his responses often came across as dismissive or irritated rather than helpful. For an event as important as a quinceañera, and considering the amount of money we paid, we expected much better service, communication, and attention throughout the night.
The decorations were super pretty and elegant. The bathrooms were clean, and we loved the spaces that were provided for us, including the kitchen and bar. The venue itself was spacious, clean, and very nice.
I fully acknowledge that being behind schedule was our fault, and I have no problem taking responsibility for that. However, that does not explain the other issues we experienced. The venue itself definitely has its positives, but based on our experience, parts of the service did not match what we were led to expect or what we paid for, especially the DJ service considering how much we paid for it.
