Jim Pescatore's Home Improvement had come highly recommended and when we hired his company to…read morereplace our roof and to install 3" round vents under our eaves, we felt confident that the job would be done properly... but over the past year, as I watch one after another of the vents fall out of the eaves, because they were not installed properly (1 inch pieces of black electrical tape used to hold them in place and no silicone caulk or fastener of any kind)... It worries us to think that corners were cut on other parts of the job and that we will have new and potentially more damaging shortcuts surface in the future... We have reached out to Mr. Pescatore and have not heard back from him or his company... Now we have to hire someone else to redo the vents properly...

Setting up a quote is pretty straight forward, and Jim is very clear and thoughtful in considering the job in question. Correspondence after wards could be improved, as I've waited a while for a call back that later was admitted to have been forgotten, but all in all, they've got a pretty streamlined process. Jobs are all inclusive and clearly stated. They start and end on time for the most part, thanks to his formidable work force, but I have had a project get extended for a few days due to a work site emergency elsewhere that required immediate attention. Which is understandable. It's hard to go wrong with Pescatore Home Improvement, and he should be your first call for any project.

The contract specifically states the work would be completed in 3 weeks & it's been almost 3 months; it also states that final payment will be due upon completion, well, not only is the work not completed but I'm having to hire other people to repair or finish the uncompleted work. This contractor has been harrassing me to the point of having to report him to the police for harrassment and now he's threatening to sue me! think twice before hiring this contractor. It's better to pay a little more & hire someone who's experienced and has good work ethics.

I was initially quoted $2.8k for the repair of a small piece of roof (50-60sqft) outside of our kitchen window. After I told the salesperson I wanted to discuss it with my husband, he returned with a new quote of $3.3k and claimed the original quote never existed. Since we already had water damage and needed the repair urgently because of the horrible CT winter, we felt pressured to move forward. But the repair also wasn't scheduled as quickly as promised. I had to make several calls to finally get someone to come out since the job was "too small" (yet they asked for three grand). Horrible sales experience. The technician, however, was excellent. When we experienced another small leak after the repair, he came back promptly and fixed it without hesitation. He was professional, responsive, and the only reason this review isn't zero star.

He was at my house a few hours later, taking photos and measurements for an estimate for a new cedar shingle roof. He provided numerous references, all checked out with glowing comments. His pricing was quite fair for this large job. They began work within a week and I was incredibly impressed with his team, how clean they kept the worksite (our front courtyard) and how they cleaned up after each day's work. They were organized, methodical and worked section by section around the entire roof. The men were all hard workers and very kind. The roof is now done to code (wasn't before), with new flashing and the proper protections under the cedar shingles for longevity. Could not be more thrilled.
