I was initially quoted $2.8k for the repair of a small piece of roof (50-60sqft) outside of our kitchen window. After I told the salesperson I wanted to discuss it with my husband, he returned with a new quote of $3.3k and claimed the original quote never existed. Since we already had water damage and needed the repair urgently because of the horrible CT winter, we felt pressured to move forward. But the repair also wasn't scheduled as quickly as promised. I had to make several calls to finally get someone to come out since the job was "too small" (yet they asked for three grand). Horrible sales experience. The technician, however, was excellent. When we experienced another small leak after the repair, he came back promptly and fixed it without hesitation. He was professional, responsive, and the only reason this review isn't zero star. read more

I reached out to JP Carroll because I had concerns about my 25-30 year old roof on my house. Colton came out, went up there, (two story high rise colonial mind you) and took a thorough detailed video of what I needed to focus attention on. He also went over the features that their materials provide, as well as the warranty. He was knowledgeable with solutions and transparency. SOLD. Lee And Shawn came out jointly to coordinate the project, and as someone involved in a client facing industry myself, I could not have been any more impressed. From start to finish they made sure I was involved in the process, including photo updates as the job progressed. Edited with update: When I called the office twice to try to solve the problem, no solution was offered, and I just wasn't able to make any headway on why I was ghosted and then billed for work that wasn't done. I don't normally leave bad reviews for businesses, but once I posted my experience online, I immediately got calls and voicemails from them, saying that they would handle my problem immediately. And they did-- someone came out the very next day and replaced my gutter, and the work was done well. read more

The office staff at JPCarroll are incompetent, illiterate, dishonest, unorganized and uncaring. This is the absolute WORST experience we've ever had, in dealing with a company. The work crews are EXCELLENT. The office people are unable to correctly take a message or follow through on promises to call us back. I am lodging a formal complaint with the town of Bloomfield, as well as with The Better Business Bureau. Our disaster roof leak was diagnosed, on February 3, and the office has failed to follow-up with so much as a call, since. The " Production Manager" , Jordan phoned today=. 23 days after leak occured to say that there was miscommunication within the office but that their company is NOT liable for ANY damage, from the leak. He claims that an " I E DAM"was the cause and that their company is warranty does NOT cover ICE DAM DAMAGE. He recomends using a Roof Rake, during snow storms, to prevent the formation of ice dams. read more

We have been extremely disappointed with the services provided after our roof completion. First, some background: Our house didn't need a new roof quite yet, but it was 20 years old and we were getting solar panels put on. At the recommendation of our solar installer, we decided to also get a new roof as opposed to having to get a new roof later when they would have to work around the solar. JP Carrol was recommended by our solar installer. At any rate, we had absolutely no issues with our old roof. Immediately after the roof installation, we had a leak in our kitchen which damaged the ceiling. JP Carrol came out and fixed the issue and repaired the ceiling. We were impressed with their professionalism. However, a month or so later, a leak developed in our son's room. This leak has led to multiple service technicians coming out and attempts to fix the issue. Unfortunately, the issue has continued and led to multiple damaged electronics. The last technician that came out in April said that they needed to send someone out to go into our attic and that they would contact us. Since then, it has been us contacting JP Carrol to follow up usually multiple times to get things scheduled. Often, like today, our appointments have been pushed our rescheduled. I understand that weather effects roofing work schedules, but our leak has been ongoing for 8 months now. Additionally, because we want this fixed, we shuffle our schedule around every time the reschedule and it's frustrating. For example, we finally had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow for which we rescheduled multiple doctor's appointments. Then we received a text that our appointment was moved to Wednesday. There was no phone call to see if that worked for us. We contacted the office and they claimed to have left us a message, but we have no such voicemail. I would think that a leaking roof would be a priority and not take 8 months to fix. I am disappointed in what appears to be a lack of concern about the work that was done and have been very disappointed with their handling of this issue. Because of this, I can't recommend them to anyone else at this time. read more

Ironically, one thing I shared as a concern was the gutters being put back on correctly when the roof was done. Unfortunately, it was noticeable the gutter guards were mess up after the job was done. Not aligned correctly. A worker came back and managed to adjust some. After he left, my son came to clear a birds nest from a corner gutter and said the problem was that they put them back on wrong. The same fellow came back and said the guards were old and warped. And now some of the new roof tiles were buckling. I took BEFORE photos of the gutter and roof and there was nothing wrong with the gutters/guards. I complained to Jack Carrol the CEO. He sent someone over to replace the guards for free. I appreciate that. The worker took photos of his work upon completion. I thought that was the end of it. THEN I'm at an appt and my neighbor text me that the company has ladders out and someone is off the ladder and on my Lower roof taking photos. They never made an appt to come by. They had no right being on my property never mind my roof without my permission. (I'd be liablel if there was an accident) I called the office to complain. Was told someone would get back to me but no one did. FIVE neighbors have had their roof done in the past year. None by JP Carrol but I chose them for their good reviews, family owned business. I'm very disappointed in the company. read more

JP Carroll replaced the low slope roof on my house last August. The price was good and the crew worked quickly and was careful not to disturb the plantings around the house. However, after the replacement, I had water running off the side of the roof in multiple areas during moderate rainfall rather than going to the downspouts. This never happened in the past. I contacted JP Carroll and they agreed to address the issues, saying it was an easy fix. However, never did the work. I've followed up multiple times, and each time they say they'll make the fixes but nothing happens. read more

I contacted JP Carroll to get an assessment and quote on several areas of needed roof repair; they came out, inspected the sites and told me be they would send a quote in 2-3 days. The assessor also stated that my entire roof was worn, showed signs of wear and would need replacement soon. Despite several follow up calls, no quote was provided. Perhaps the job was too small, but if that's the case just say so. Three other roofers also did assessments, but none suggested the roof was in need of replacement. read more

Good price and roof installation seems well done. One problem is that some of our plantings were crushed during roof removal. A more serious problem is that our white vinyl siding was some cracks in it and black markings from shingles being thrown down. Lastly, the job seems to have been done by sub-contractors. I spoke to somebody twice who said she would talk to somebody about getting me an answer, but it never happened. I'm too busy to chase companies around. In general, I was pleased with the quoting and installation of my new roof. However, with closer inspection of the details of the work during a renovation we discovered JP Carroll's people cut some corners. The contract called for replacing of flashing. However, they reused 25 year old step flashing and did not use it properly. This lead to leaks. read more

JP Carroll was a pleasure to work with on our roof replacement for our home. The salesperson was very professional, reviewing the options for shingle selection and explaining the reasons for the high quality with the GAF Master Elite shingles which have a 50 year lifetime. I was particularly impressed the GAF shingles are infiltrated with copper to reduce the chance of algae build-up and discoloration of the shingles with years. The prices with JP Carrroll were competitive with other quotes. They coordinated work with our solar panel installer who installed the panels a few days after the new roof shingles were installed. The work crew as outstanding, very high quality workmanship. They took extra care to do a very thorough clean-up of the yard when they were done, so clean including pickup of stray nails, like they were never there in the first place. The craftsmanship on the roof work was outstanding. Definitely recommend JP Carroll for future roof replacements. read more

On the scheduled day of the quote, I received a call that the representative had finished his prior call earlier and he wanted to see if we could move up our appointment.  I was not home yet.  He stated that upon looking from the back of the house, he could see the area of concern I noted with our gutters.  Specifically; there was a small portion of mesh guard that covered the gutters on the second floor that had come up so it was no longer flush with the shingles and allowed debris in.  This was visible from the ground.  I told him yes, that's exactly the concern we had.  He said he would get us on the schedule and we would get a call to notify us about when service would take place. A week or two passed and I hadn't heard anything, so I called JP Carroll.  When I explained why I was calling, the woman who answered said she couldn't find me on the schedule anywhere, and would have to call me back.  Upon her return call, I was told that service had already taken place and she noted the date.  When she told me the date, I was very surprised because I'd been home all day with the exception of a trip to the grocery store that had me out of the house about 60 minutes total. I was told I'd get a call back with more info.  I received a call from the gentleman who I originally spoke with.  During this call, I told him I could still see the damaged piece of mesh guard out of place on the gutter.  He was unable to tell me exactly what work had been done and said he would have to check with the technician.  He called me later that day to say that the technician had repaired several (though never specified) other portions of the gutter guard mesh that had pulled away from the roof.  He said there were a few spots where they "tucked it back in" under the shingles.  He stated the portion of guard I could still see was not long enough to tuck back in and this gutter system was not one that JP Carroll had parts for due to it's age.  I received a voicemail 10/16 stating I had an outstanding balance with JP Carroll.  When I returned the call and stated I'd never received an invoice, I was told I'd been sent the invoice multiple times via email.  When the representative who answered read me the email she had for me, I was able to correct the incomplete email address that had been used.  I find a charge of $450 unreasonable for work that I can't validate and that no one has quantified to me.  Was one other spot "repaired"?  Ten spots?  $450 is a lot of money to me.  And that fee seems high, in my opinion, for a job that had them in and out in the 60 minutes I was gone that day, to "tuck in" an unspecified number of gutter guard pieces.  The major one that prompted my call, remains an issue.  Clear communication from JP Carroll was lacking at best throughout the process, and payment was delayed due to a clerical error on the company's end. read more

I have used JP Carroll before for a roofing repair and was very pleased and before my lastest experience would definitely have recommended them. However, I had shingle damage in April due to wind damaage, the insurance findings concluded that only shingle repair was needed which differed from Jack's opinion of full or partial roof replacement. There have been several back and forths with the insurance company requesting further information/photos from Jack. After the latest request in mid-July, Jack said he would send someone out yet no one ever showed up. Now, a month later, my phone calls and emails have gone unanswered. I even asked to just let me know if he's no longer interested in this job so I would know for sure whether to move on and haven't even received an answer.to that. Needless to say, this type of treatment has left me frustrated and now I'm scrambling to find a new company months after the initial damage, I'm sorry I wasted so much time and trust in this company. read more

I would fully recommend JP Carroll Construction to anyone who is looking to replace their roof in Connecticut. I did not take the task of finding a company to handle my roofing needs lightly and did the majority of my due diligence by researching companies online and asking residents in my neighborhood/ town for references. JP Carroll was the favorite for my business at this point in time based on that research but I ended up choosing 3 companies to come out to my house and put together price estimates. This is where my mind was made up as they not only had the lowest overall cost but also the quickest timeline for completion. Throughout the actual process of tearing out the old roof and installation of the new, all of the workers were very respectful of my family and I and made sure to leave the site spotless at the end of each day. I must admit I did some snooping on the workers from afar throughout the project to make sure they were staying on task and was very impressed at their work ethic and apparent lack of fatigue. It was clear that these guys a) knew what they were doing and b) understood that any breaks they took throughout the day would only delay the project and ultimately delay them from starting a new one. I'm not sure how long the crew had been working together but the efficiency and teamwork was truly eye-opening. The project ended up being right on budget and completed a half day earlier than projected. The post installation process went just as well as the rest of the project as the site was left looking the same as it was before they arrived (just looking a lot better with the new roof!). There was quite a bit of debris that had collected in the attic and the crew made a point to remove every piece before they departed. I've said it before and I'll say it again, JP Carroll Construction is simply THE BEST for roofing in the greater Hartford area. I fully recommend J.P. Carroll for roofing. They gave us a good price, began on the specified date and finished in a week (as per their estimate). They were careful with the landscape and shrubbery and cleaned up after the job was completed. More importantly, the owner came by at the beginning of the job and discussed some of our roof issues with us.
