I live in…read moreTennessee (TN) and long story short, a week before my wedding a stylist there who said she could lighten my hair dramatically failed and told me that getting my hair light was "unrealistic". I was devastated. A few days before the wedding I visited my grandmother in El Paso and researched salons. Despite some negative reviews, I made a consultation appointment with Mireya at Ana's Salon. THANK GOODNESS, SHE IS AMAZING! Mireya assured me the TN stylist was wrong and my hair can get light. It would take a couple of sessions of course, but it was definitely doable. After my consultation she delivered beautiful, light color with impressive professionalism, service and quality of work. The salon is clean, welcoming, and offers beverages to clients. Additionally, Mireya, Christina, and the stylists obviously take pride in their work and take the time to do it right. The prices may seem a bit high but that's because you pay for what you get- Above average quality work. For reference, I paid $360 and it was worth it. Best coloring I've ever received. Ana, the owner, is very involved and likes to meet the clients personally which I thought was a nice touch. I've attached a photo for comparison. Top left is my original hair, top right is after the TN stylist, bottom left is after Mireya at Ana's Salon. Bottom right is what I showed both the TN stylist and Mireya as my dream hair- Obviously you can see how Mireya nailed it. She would need one more session to get it to the dream hair ashy color.

My wife was devastated because this salon improperly bleached her hair then dyed to cover up the…read moremistake. She only went to have the roots touched up and the woman left it in her hair for 30 minutes. This fried her roots and improperly stripped the color from the hair. There was also patches of the original color left in the layers of her hair. After this, we had to cancel family Christmas photos that evening and I had to watch her cry over and over about this salon messing up her hair. I told her to speak to the manager and she called them the very next morning. The woman on the phone agreed that the bleach on the roots was in too long and offered a refund on services rendered. My wife showed up to this salon and spoke to the same woman on the phone which was the manager. The manager agreed that the roots were fried and called the salon artist to look at the mistakes. This salon artist went into an instant Latin b**ch mode and started calling my wife a lier. While this is happening, 2 other clients mistakes were being resolved at the exact time she is defending the quality of work. The manager allowed the salon artist to offer a $45 refund on the services and my wife refuses and requested the full $90. Then my wife told her that if she did not refund the full amount than that is fine because she would file a claim with the small claims court. The manager stepped back in the conversation stating that this salon artist has been to court before and the court ruled that she does good work. This statement alone is absolutely comical. Then the manager told my wife that if she did not leave the premise then she would call the police. My wife refused to leave because she wanted the full amount refunded so the manager called the police. The police showed up and spoke with the manager and salon artist for a minute or so. During this time, the salon artist screamed and yelled at this police officer trying to justify her case. The police officer told her that he did not understand why they were called because this was a civil matter and there has not been any violence committed by the client. This is a perfect example of how people misunderstand protective civil services and laws. A fair warning to anyone that goes to this location, your initial experience might be fantastic as my wife's experience was but if they knowingly messed up services rendered, you are a criminal for requesting rightful justification after the manager honored the justification on the phone.

Today we were looking for white coats and face protection and AJ's Uniforms was the only place close to us that had these available. Whether you're looking for scrubs, white coat or danskos, AJ's has got you covered. They also have stethoscopes and other medical clothing that you need if you work in a hospital. They don't have medical supplies, however, so you'll have to find an alternative place for your tongue depressors, ultrasound gel, etc. People were friendly and extremely helpful. Not very many parking spots by their building and it was quite busy even though we came late on a weekday before they closed. First time at this thrift store. Found it by total accident…read more Found several awesome pieces for awesome prices! They have everything by color and not sizes which I don't like but can get used to. They have a kind of creepy guy who was obviously their "security" because he was walking around trying to look like he was shopping but obviously wasn't. They only take cash but do have an ATM machine that charges 4$ I think. Take cash! Overall I really enjoyed the store and loved my finds.

After I arrived I was greeted by Viri, who was scheduled to do my hair not Suzy. I asked for a caramel balayage, and showed the pic attached below. After hours in the chair I noticed that she was applying color a few inches from the root all the way to the ends. Balayage is supposed to be more of a natural painting and not an ombré which appeared to be what she was doing and what I ended up with. Balayage is more natural and ends should be darker with almost flows of color throughout the hair, almost like natural highlights. An ombré is a faded look top to bottom basically. My hair was so blonde she and the owner realized this was not caramel as I had asked and then applied more color to darken it on my entire head, roots to end. I appreciate them noticing this and attempting to correct it. 4 hours later, arrived at 4pm, left at 8pm. I ended up with a color almost similar to what I went in with. Basically all one color with the exception of my roots and not a balayage at all. The services came to a whooping $221! They charged me for all the blonde she originally put in and then had to cover. Had the color been applied properly it would not have required so much. I am not impressed with my hair, it is not terrible but not what I wanted and definitely not worth $221. I could have applied boxed dye at home and gotten the same or better results. I'm giving 3 stars because both Vira, that did my hair, and the owner were extremely nice. I watched the owner cut several boys and men's hair and did fabulous. While I'm not pleased with my hair and didn't get what I asked for, I would at least go back for a haircut but likely never color again. That's the risk we take when trying someone and something new. They did tell me I had 15 days from the time of service to come in if I wanted it lighten or darkened. I'm just scared to ask for any more color to be added not knowing what I'm going to end up with. So I'll likely take the $221 loss, and go buy a $10 box of dye and re-color my own hair.

Today (4/2), I actually went there where a sign says "Walk-ins Welcome" in the window. There was one person in the salon doing a manicure, there was NOT ONE stylist at any hair stations! When I inquired if I could get a cut and color some time today, I was told no, but to put my name on a list at the register, and she would look and see if she had anything available tomorrow. I left my name and phone number and a time frame I'd like an appointment, NO ONE has contacted me. I guess they don't want and/or need any new clientele. I'm new to the El Paso area, I'm sure there are many other salons that want my business, because I'm certainly not going to attempt a third try with this place!
