Outstanding salon and experience! Ana's Salon fixed my hair just in time for my wedding. I live in Tennessee (TN) and long story short, a week before my wedding a stylist there who said she could lighten my hair dramatically failed and told me that getting my hair light was "unrealistic". I was devastated. A few days before the wedding I visited my grandmother in El Paso and researched salons. Despite some negative reviews, I made a consultation appointment with Mireya at Ana's Salon. THANK GOODNESS, SHE IS AMAZING! Mireya assured me the TN stylist was wrong and my hair can get light. It would take a couple of sessions of course, but it was definitely doable. After my consultation she delivered beautiful, light color with impressive professionalism, service and quality of work. The salon is clean, welcoming, and offers beverages to clients. Additionally, Mireya, Christina, and the stylists obviously take pride in their work and take the time to do it right. The prices may seem a bit high but that's because you pay for what you get- Above average quality work. For reference, I paid $360 and it was worth it. Best coloring I've ever received. Ana, the owner, is very involved and likes to meet the clients personally which I thought was a nice touch. I've attached a photo for comparison. She is amazing with 15 years of experience!!! This place only has 3 stars overall but the reviews only mention high prices. I paid $55 for the haircut and was hands-down happy to do it. I've paid $80 before in small 'no-name' towns on the East Coast. Wow I really really wanted to like this salon. You walk in and it is clean and lovely. Goldie was very welcoming. Went downhill from there. Waited over 45 minutes for my appt to begin. I get that... things happen. That really wasn't a problem. But the prices were crazy high. I almost walked out when I was given the estimate but I leave for CA on Monday and it really needed cut and colored. Although my color is beautiful .... and I thank you for that ..... they didn't really cut my hair that much and it is really long for me. I showed a picture ... we talked pixie cut but ended up with nothing close and I walked out almost in tears. Really loved the haircut that I got! I was cut by Stephanie she did an amazing job! They had complimentary beverages and the haircut comes in a package which includes wash, cut, and a style. I personally didn't want my hair washed since I came with my hair freshly washed already so I just had a hair cut. I'm here In El Paso, Texas on a short 6 week visit with my husband who has been placed here by his company for 5 months. He should be home in Washington by the end of March. I hope Anyways, I need to find a Kérastase certified salon to do my shampoo blow drys & style while I'm here. I get my hair washed every Saturday since it is so hard for me to manage myself. It's long and has started to get somewhat curly as I have gotten older which requires more of my time. I get extremely fatigued since I have Multiple Sclerosis. So, I've turned to Yelp as I always do to find the variety of serves that I need when I travel. During my search I have found Ana's Hair Salon which says they use Kérastase & Orbe product lineswhich are both made by L'Oréal Professional. (Kérastase being more high end then Orbe) I have been using Kérastase on my hair for last 8 years and have found it to provide wonderful nutrition for my hair. Actually? I think my hair is in love with the quality of this amazing product line. I also went on their website to check and make sure Ana's is on there. Which they ARE! I am very impressed with Ana's website, searching for the information that I needed was quick and easy. I found everything right away. I say, "great job, Ana's Hair Salon"! I know that making an appt at a salon with only 3 or days notice can be tricky since most are booked out for weeks in advance, but I still had to try. I called 2 days ago to make an appt for this coming Saturday & they quickly partnered me with a Sr stylist named "Marisela". I spoke to a gentleman named "Ruben" who has a nice voice and is very professional. He seemed to listen intently to everything I explained about my needs etc. He made a couple recommendations that are new to Kérastases product line which I found helpful so I booked a great time at 1:00pm for the next 4 Saturday's during my visit. (as a little note: due to the fatigue caused by the MS I have been getting my hair professionally washed and styled at once a week for the past 8 years) Based on my first phone impression with Ruben I give them 4 stars. I normally don't leave bad reviews. I always think, eh maybe that person was having a bad day, it's alright. But holy cow! I was looking for a last minute full hair color, my regular salon was booked, so I called around. Ana's salon had an opening if I went right that moment. So I did. When I got there, the lady looked at my hair, asked me what color I wanted. I said, just a dark golden brown. One flat color. She said that because my hair is dark brown, they would need to bleach it to get the color lighter. I didn't want a lighter color I literally wanted brown with golden tones or chocolate tones. Warm tones essentially. She gets the owner, the owner tells me the same thing. Gotta bleach. I've been to 360, Nicholas Reyes salon, no one has ever said that they have to bleach my brown hair to get it brown with warm tones. No one. I was like, no I don't want to bleach, Ive had highlights in the past and I don't want the damage. Then I said, just full dark brown is fine. A simple dark brown. They said okay, came back and the original lady said "it's going to be 455 for your hair" What?! I literally had to ask three times to see if I heard right. 455!! For a solid brown hair color on mid back length hair. Solid brown color!! Every salon I've been to, has been maybe 200 max for full color, blow dry, hair gloss. With highlights, maybe 240ish. 455 for a full solid brown color. And it was NOT a miscommunication. I asked her 3 times if that's for full brown plain color ONLY. She said yes. Are they transplanting gold to my hair?? I felt like I was in the twilight zone. I left, called another salon, LV salon, she quoted me 160 for gloss, hair color, haircut, it was 180 with hairstyling included and she did an amazing job!! I absolutely love this place!!! This is the second time I've had my hair done with Ana, who I think is amazing! Ana and her staff are all very professional and courteous. I was greeted immediately upon walking in. I did get to my appointment a tad early, and was offered a delicious cappuccino while I waited. I am a total spaz with my hair and am very particular because it's super thick and can look like a lion's mane if not done correctly. I have no worries with Ana - she listens to my wants and concerns. I always walk out feeling fabulous. This is a high end salon with reasonable prices. This salon is wonderful, I don't understand the reviews. People who do your hair are not servants. They are artists. We do live in a world that doesn't value artists the way it should, and marginalizes them in a "customer is always right" manner. That's not right. I'm not a hair expert- I do not micromanage the people who do my hair. They are the artists who make me look beautiful. If you order your stylist around and micromanage them, you have taken away their right to do their job. They aren't just a license of proficiency. What sets salons like this apart from all the others is that the people who work there are FANTASTIC. Including the owner. Show some respect. El Paso is lucky to have this place. Every time I've gone there, a nice woman named Brooke (?) has done my hair. She's showed a great understanding of her craft, and I've left there feeling, and looking, gorgeous. I was able to walk-in and get an immediate appointment on a Wednesday afternoon. Make sure you have time to get your hair cut because Ana's is definitely an experience! A hair cut appointment (they'll wash your hair, cut and style) took at least an hour. Marisol was my stylist and I'll admit I was a bit concerned at first. Her hair was pulled into a messy bun with a bandana and I worried about how her personal style was going to affect me. However, I showed her a picture of what I was looking for, and described a few changes to it I wanted made---she executed it PERFECTLY!! She did the most amazing job with layers I think I've ever gotten and styled it beautifully afterward. This was defintely worth the $35 plus tip! read more

I found this place after several failed attempts at finding someone in EP that actually knows how to cut and maintain a pixie cut. I started with Maricella and ended up sticking with Mireya. Both are super nice and talented stylists. Mireya really understands short cuts and I enjoyed watching her work her scissors. The ambience is calming and everyone there is welcoming. Prices are high for the area, but I'm from NYC and used to pay $68 for my cuts. I hope I can find a stylist like Mireya in VA. :( read more

I was floored about how much they were going to charge for a trim and color. I had made an appointment but got up and left, $300. I've had my hair done by the Paul Mitchell salon in Manhattan and I wasn't charged that much. No wonder the place was empty. I was getting one color, no highlights. I had the most horrible experience at this salon. I found this salon on Yelp, and decided to give it a try after I saw the positive reviews. I just needed to retouch my existing highlights and get a haircut. Sounds simple right? As I was sitting in the chair, the owner came over and told the stylist to put new highlights and lowlights throughout my hair, which is not what I asked for, but I trusted her opinion. I thought they were trying a different technique to achieve my desired look. It was a stupid decision to trust her because she obviously didn't know what I was looking for and because they jacked up the price to $180! $50 for the haircut from a "senior stylist" and $130 for the full highlights, which is $30 more bucks than what is listed on the site. During the process, I noticed that the highlights were really light (I could even see the bright yellow when my hair was wet). So I asked the stylist several times if she was going to tone it darker and she kept saying yes. However, she did not add additional toner, she just washed it and said it was done. When I asked if she could make it darker, because I thought it was too light (AND stringy and yellow), she said that I would like it more when it dries. Well I didn't like it more when it dried. It was not was I wanted, and when I told the stylist this, she called the owner over. The owner was extremely confrontational and unprofessional. I am shocked that an established businesswoman would think that being pushy and confrontational is an appropriate way to interact with your customers. She said that my hair looked fine and that I could not change my mind over and over. I responded by saying that I did not change my mind over and over, the highlights came out too light and I wanted them toned down. After arguing with me in front of everyone for a few minutes, the owner finally stepped away and let the other stylists apply the toner. The final look was not exactly what I wanted, but it was definitely closer. It was just an absolutely horrible experience, but I felt proud of myself for not letting an abrasive, over-confrontational woman take advantage of me. I dont understand how this place has had good reviews. I went here for highlights after I saw a lot of good reviews about this place and was very disappointed with the results when I went home. Went in again so they can fix them and still they were horrible. Not to mention I paid a lot of money just so Ana can mess up my hair. The next few days I couldn't stand it and dyed all of my hair dk brown. Horrible experience ever and very OVER PRICED for the quality of work done. I had an all over color and cut. The cut is adequate, nothing extraordinary. The color isn't exactly what I had in mind but not that bad. The staff was nice, my stylist tried her hardest to make conversation but seemed distracted, by the end of the visit she had asked many life details but I doubt she could remember anything I said. My stylist needed to get approval from the owner to do the color and cut that we had decided from and then the owner dictated the price. It's pricey. It's not just pricey for El Paso but also for the level of service. If I had come out absolutely loving the outcome then spending $200 would have seemed of a little bit of a stretch but fine.... I went to this salon for a cut and a highlight. Overall, it was not a bad experience, but I probably will not go back. Pro: - I made an appointment with Nick, and he did a wonderful job on the highlight portion. Honestly couldn't have asked for a better color job. Con's: - Make sure you get the full pricing when booking the appointment. Nick, who is not the director, charged the director's prices since he is part of the management. I ended up paying way more than what the website indicted. - Nothing is included if you want a cut and color. They charge the washing fee and a styling fee on top of the cut and color pricing (I've been to other salons where a blow dry or wash is included in the price). - I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time to make it to the chair. I had to leave directly after he washed my hair because I was going to be late for work (a full highlight and wash took two hours and fifteen minutes). It was not a bad salon, but know what to expect prior to making an appointment. It will most likely take you a few hours and you will pay double of any salon in El Paso. Ana's Hair Salon is extremely expensive but they do a great job. My hair looked beautiful, and this was after I had used a box hair dye with very poor results. They all work as a well honed Olympic TEAM helping each other with clients and are incredibly solicitous and professional. The atmosphere is very pretty and clean, they have someone cleaning at all times and it shows. I was incredibly pleased with my haircut, color and style. My cut was $150.00, my color 150.00 and they did some kind of mask on my hair that was super pricey as well. I called in the morning, in hopes of getting an appointment. Lucky they were able to fit me in. The man who answered couldn't hear me at first, instead of just hanging up on me. He kindly let me know he was unable to hear me and to please call back... I did. Got my appointment @11am. Walked in alittle sooner then 11. Filled out a new client paper work. Name, number, allergies etc... My hairstyle Mireya, listened and as well took the time to look at the pictures I chose to explain what I wanted. She let me know, I'll be getting my hair washed. She walked me to alittle room. Where you yourself, put on a salon robe (I guess that's what it's called) over your clothes of course (LOL) I honesty didn't know it was gonna be someone else washing my hair. Now I really hoped I remembered and saying her name right, Golden. She was so sweet, she didn't rush what so ever. It felt amazing! When she was done, she asked if I wanted something to drink! Crazy right. She told me, they have coffee, cappuccino's, water, soda etc... I got the water. When I went to sit. Mireya came right away and as well offered me a drink. She cut, blow-dried, cut again what she didn't like, then styled my hair. I asked for loose curls. As she was doing all that Golden came 4 times to sweep Mireya's area. Talk about team work! Thank you Mireya and Golden for making my experience at Ana's Hair Salon a good one. And to the staff , I was amazed how sweet, happy, kind everyone was. Oh and I got pictures taken! I know it's been months since Clarrisa and Ana's discussion but I was looking for another business on yelp and saw this salon, which is where I get my hair done, and thought out of curiosity I would read the reviews. I am appalled by the way Ana responded to Clarissa and Jessica. Do you not realize they are paying customers? Do you also not realize other paying customers read the way you are talking to them? It's also quite amusing of her to question why people would want to go on website and write a review but yet doesn't find it strange that it takes her so much effort to defend herself with passive aggressive comments. Regardless of your opinion of the situation, you have an unsatisfied customer and that should be enough to make you want to make things right, by her terms! I love the way my stylist cuts my hair and I will continue going only because finding a good stylist in El Paso is a difficult task but I've had my hair colored at this salon and felt I had done a better job using products from Sally's. So I would agree coloring is not this salon's forte, neither is customer service (how can you possibly believe your customer's review will be honest when the stylist is standing right in front you of when you are filling it out and then collects it from you). In efforts to keep this review honest and give a true account of my experience, I felt the need to respond to to your comment Ana. We absolutely did not take me darker, we just went a shade more red. I came in at a level 6, the color applied was a level 6, and I left a level 6. My hair was above shoulder length when we colored it. I've been to a variety of salons in a variety of cities and not one has charged me $140 for the type of basic color service I received at your salon. That is why I feel overcharged. Yes I did leave a good tip as ultimately I had no way of telling who's fault it was (stylist or owner) that I was over charged and wasn't comfortable stiffing my stylist on the tip. I was handed the evaluation/survey by my stylist as we were checking out and I didn't feel comfortable giving her a bad review as she stood there watching me fill it out, and then hand it over to her. In my opinion, you should rethink how you administer your survey if you genuinely want an honest review. Initially I refrained from posting my first yelp review for your salon as I thought maybe there was some kind of misunderstanding and should give you the benefit of the doubt. However, a week or two later I noticed there were new reviews from other customers who visited your salon around the same time as I, and couldn't help but notice how they shared similar disappointing experiences. Today I went in to get my hair highlighted. First off, they said a partial highlight is only allowed to have ten foils. What?!?! I've never had a salon say that. So, they had to do a full, which costs $150. Plus, they charge you a style, which is another $33. I specifically asked for them to keep my blonde color the same and touch up the roots. Plain and simple. I'm a natural blonde, so it's not hard to lighten my hair. They practically bleached my whole head, and then toned it wrong. None of my natural hair color was left. I was so upset my eyes started to tear up. They said they'd fix it by adding low lights and re-toning. It looks better than what it did when she first got done with it, but I do not have the color I desire. Plus, the style was terrible. First I would like to say I love every single person I had contact with today from start to finish. From Nick who set my appt. to Brook who did my color to the young lady who brought me water to Ana who helped me decide what to do with my mop and cut it. What a job poor Brook had too I have lots of hair lol, but she was upbeat happy chatted with me ,was just in general very sweet. You can tell everyone gets along and is happy at Ana's. Is none of that heavy tension you can get when people don't get along. I saw women get color and cuts done and leave looking fabulous. I will be going back myself A++ for me all around. My only draw back was I did do a hair treatment to help with frizz and I don't see were it worked. My hair is softer from the treatment thou so is a plus :) Now this is no super cuts you want super cut prices then go to super cuts. I have tried other salons paying from 25 to 35 for a cut. A cut is 40 here but you are not paying for some cookie cutter haircut. Which I hate by the way not everyone can have there hair cut the same way. It takes experience and that is what your paying for. Ana looked at my hair asked what I would like then made her suggestions. I am glad I listened to her I love her suggestion on highlights and help with the cut. I was going to color my hair. I've been accused of having hair-dysmorphic disorder and I didn't have a single complaint! My husband loved his haircut too. I went to Ana (the owner) and he had Mariela. If you want a quick cut and don't care about the results than go ahead and try another place. I you want a well thought out perfect cut then this place is for you. I went to this "salon" a year ago, so this is way past due. First of all, has anyone noticed that all of Ana's responses are rude and confrontational? This is how Ana is. I went to the salon and one guy was supposed to do my hair, but he gave me to someone else. The stylist to a good job with my hair and was very nice, but everyone else in the shop was rude. The worst part is my daughter came in to pick me up and she could hear Ana talking to another employee and she was making fun of all of the customers! So, basically what happens at this salon is that you pay good money just to be made fun of by the owner. Ana is rude, crude, and unprofessional. I am almost 40 years old with a full head of grey hair that I have tto color almost every 4 weeks. Since moving to El Paso a year ago, I had yet to find a decent place that could keep the color on my hair for more than a week. I decided to try Ana's after reading other reviews, even though it was WAY outside of my price range. Let me say that it was worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY and more! They were very professional, took time to really examine my hair and my lifestyle, and it was quite obvious to me that they expect nothing less that perfection from themselves. Yes, it's expensive, but you will NOT be disappointed. The color is spectacular, the cut is the best I've ever had, and being an athlete with 3 kids, they took the time to give me something I could work with quickly! I would love to give this salon 5 stars for the work they did on my wedding hair and makeup, HOWEVER, the owner (I believe that's who she was), was extremely rude and unkind on my wedding day. I was told a price by the hairdresser at my consultation, then as I was trying to leave and pay- the price went up considerably! I told her that I only had what I'd budgeted- a certain amount of money according to what I had been quoted- and she got very short with me, "That's not the way we do things here". I apologized and said I had to get to my wedding so please tell me what they wanted me to pay and I would give her all the money I had... I ended up being $5 short and no tip for the workers. Very uncomfortable when you were not told there would be wiggle room in the price, and cannot cough up more, as you are late for your wedding! My daughter and I had a horrible experience at this salon. When we first arrived we were ignored, then when someone finally noticed us (there were at least 3 people working) we were told staff would be right with us. After 45 minutes waiting and no word from another employee, I noticed they were looking at us and made a phone call. Whoever we had our appointment with was not going to be showing up apparently. So we chose to have our service done with whoever was available. My daughter ended up with a really amateur cut from a newbie, and although she does have long, thick hair it came out completely uneven and she burned my daughter's head during blow dry. My own hair was done by a senior stylist who didn't take much time with me in consult, and razor-cut my hair, saying it was the modern thing to do with long hair, but within 3 weeks it looked AWFUL. It took 6 months to get to a point where it looked polished again, with another stylist at a different salon. These people have huge egos and did nothing to make us feel comfortable. read more
