Okay, so while I haven't actually used her services, I can't rave enough about Shawnique. I live in El Paso part-time. Unfortunately, coming to El Paso nowadays is usually last-minute, and never a happy thing, as my final remaining family member is... This last time, I was in a rush to get here, and wasn't able to get my hair done before leaving, so I figured I'd find someone to help me while I'm here. I found Sun City Cuts online. I really liked the reviews, so I gave them a call. Shawnique answered the phone and couldn't have been more likable. I was really excited about coming to her. Shawnique called the day before to confirm my appointment, and asked me detailed questions to make sure she'd be fully prepared for my visit. Again, she was wonderful, and very flexible with me. Unfortunately, the morning of my appointment I learned what a complete and utter bonehead I am, because I COMPLETELY misunderstood just how far away the salon is from me. I have no idea how that happened, and I felt terrible about it, since that was obviously my fault. When I called Shawnique to let her know I wasn't going to be able to take that much time away from work, I offered to send her money to make up for the loss. She couldn't have been more understanding about it, even consoling me for being so upset with myself. If you're looking for someone who clearly cares about her job and her customers, I would definitely recommend this place. It's always very special to find someone who will connect with you one-on-one, and that's what I felt with her. read more

I had a very hard time managing my daughters hair because naturally it is very wavy & curly. It would turn into dreadlocks. I had never given her a haircut & she is 5 1/2. I was in desperate search of a hairdresser so I came on Yelp & searched for places. I read good reviews on Sun City Cuts so I called to make an appointment for the next day. Nikki made my daughter feel very comfortable & talked to me every step of the way while cutting her hair to make sure it was what I wanted. I absolutely LOVED Nikki's personality. I was very happy with my daughter's hair cut into layers & also her cute little bangs. Thank you so much Nikki! read more

Visiting from Reno, Nevada and I don't think I could have found a better place to get my haircut (2" trim) and the beautiful (inside and out) woman gave me some excellent advice on how to better care for my hair with things I can find right in my own kitchen! (She didn't try sell me expensive hair supplies that I never like or use all of AND she was reasonably priced.) Besides that, she was friendly and listened to what I was looking for in a cut and I walked out feeling awesome! Thank you Nikki! read more

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value This lady said she can dye my daughters hair any color. She asked to send a picture of what we wanted so we did. The hair came out a total disaster! It took her 4 hours to just damage my daughter's hair. I told her how disappointed we were and I asked for my money back. She ignored my request. If I could rate her a negative, I would. I paid her $155 to damage my daughter's hair. Horrible service. I will be contacting the BBB. read more

Absolutely would recommend coming here. I took my son for a haircut this afternoon, we didn't have an appointment and the owner was very nice and took us as a walk in between appointments. She did a great job on my sons hair. He is nervous about having his hair cut, after he received a bad cut at a different establishment a few months ago, but he loves the way his cut looks that he got today with Nicki, she did a wonderful job with him. Very friendly service. Will definitely be taking my son back here. read more

What an amazing hair salon. If you are looking for a top notch service from a skilled hair stylist this is the place. My baby wanted a drastic cut, and she got everything she wanted. Niki is amazing! read more

Went in for a trim. Nickey was very kind, showed me exactly how much she was going to take off and explained what she was doing as she went along. She let me part my hair myself to make sure it was right, as well as let me look at it before and after in depth with the hand mirror, and welcomed any comments or questions I had. It was quick and affordable. I will definitely be back! read more

I guess I'll be that person but I called to ask if they take appointments and she was like well I open at 9. I called at around 8:15. I'm like okay... sorry didn't realize you weren't open. (But then why did you answer?...) she said they can take appointments and who was calling. I told her my name and said I'm available after 4 pm. She said well do you want me to wait for you? The reviews on here are so consistently great so I was rather surprised at the unmistakable attitude I was hearing. I really couldn't believe it and said that I was okay, thank you and disconnected the phone call. Nicky, please work on your communication with clients. read more

I have been coming to Sun City Cuts for about 3 years now. Nicky's establishment is always clean and she is a warm and inviting person. She is the only person that does my natural hair. It has grown so much under her care. read more

On the yelp reviews they said they take walk ins so we went there and the lady unlocked the door and said they only take appointments and then shut the door. Wow, she has a way with people. She did come out when we were getting in the car and ask if we wanted to make an appointment. Maybe she heard me bad mouthing her. read more

GO HERE! I am usually sketched out when trying new places that alter my appearance, but this is definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made. She really eased my social-anxiety with active, positive conversation and the atmosphere is very calming and happy. I also have tourettes which was no problem at all for her. Nickey is undoubtedly amazing, inspiring, open-minded, and extremely easy to talk to as well as empathetic. She is more than open to suggestions and checks with you throughout the visit, showing you exactly how much she is cutting off. Nickey goes above and beyond to make you an active participant in the process. I loved the entire experience from the minute I walked in the door to the moment I left. Just talking to her is enough to make you smile as she is very funny. The 5 star quality of her hair cuts and great prices make every other salon I've tried to check out seem sub-par. Please go here I highly recommend it by all means, and I will definitely be coming here for as long as I'm staying in El Paso! By far the best experience I've ever had in a Hair Salon! read more

There are too many of several things in El Paso - too-cheap hair salons, too-small churches, looks-like-graffiti tattoo shops, and cookie-cutter Mexican restaurants (in that order? Maybe, maybe not!) I've been in El Paso since the end of 2004 and I had Nicky doing my hair for about the first 5 years. She changed shops and I lost track of her. Lucky me I knew where her brother was and just I found she had opened her own salon a year ago. Well, let me tell you, if you're tired of the 'you-get-what-you-paid $5-8 for a haircut places' then maybe it's time you went here! Nicky takes her time, doesn't rush, cuts and styles your hair, your way. She even pays attention to details like neck, behind the ears, the edge of your ears - hey, older guys have hairy ears! - and eyebrows. She also said if there's some product or hair color I want, let her know and she will get it prior to my next appointment. I've tried those $15+ mall salons, and I'd rather go to Nicky. Today she evened up a mess someone did 4 weeks ago to my hair where it was 'off' in a few places, especially where I part my hair. Thanks, Nicky. Here's hoping your business grows as fast as hair! read more

Excellent service and expert cuts! The owner is amazing and has and amazing young lady who is under her wing! Took my mom for a cut and loved how she researched on her phone device to show us possible modern bob hair cuts for my mother. My mom looks elegantly sophisticated. I had to join in and get a cut myself, we are pleased customers! read more

The owner is the sweetest woman! She is funny and pleasant to talk to. My sister in law came in looking to cut off damaged hair, and she was able to give her the perfect haircut to maintain length and health. I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

I've never had bangs but I was determined to cut them today. I am thrilled! My hair was in such horrible shape from my last nightmare haircut, it got all shaped up today and I love how it turned out! This will be the only place I go from now on. The BEST! read more

My hair was damaged and I was in serious need of something different. I came in for a cut, neck shave/design, and peekaboo color. She was fantastic the whole way through. Extremely nice and letting me know what she was doing while we were going. My cut is absolutely fabulous! The color is fantastic. It's exactly what I told her I wanted. And mind you me, I didn't really know how to put what I wanted in words! The shave is beautiful. The salon is bright and cheery. I would recommend her to everyone I meet, and I have a hard time trusting people with my hair. There have been a good many that have messed it up and I usually have to come home and fix places that people have missed. She's seriously awesome! read more

We just left here to get a walk-in cut for our 8 yr old son. He hadn't had a cut in several months and just wanted a clean up. This is the first place we have EVER been where she took the time to go over what we wanted. She walked through everything she was doing with my son while she was doing. This is the best haircut he has had. His hair is very thick and he has cowlicks. We will not be going anywhere else! I highly recommend! read more

Wow! Wonderful and very affordable. She gave me a great cut in only fifteen minutes!! I wasn't sure what to do with my hair (and hadn't had a cut in 10 months... whoops) and she gave me some ideas, asked what I liked, made sure we discussed it while looking in a mirror, etc. After it was done, and looking great, I couldn't believe what she charged. Half what I pay anywhere else. If I wasn't moving I'd be back here for all my cuts (and promise it wouldn't just be every ten months!!). Highly recommend! read more

The best haircut ever! I love it! Nickey was so nice! Great experience! I will definitely be going back!

I've been in El Paso for 2 years, I am SO glad I have found Nicki and Sun City cuts! I felt right at home from the minute I walked in the door. My style is perfect, I appreciate so much that we talked it through. I've definitely found my place every 6 weeks for a great cut. Thanks! read more

I recently moved here from California and just had a baby. My husband told me to go get a hair cut and enjoy time to treat myself. As a mother of 5 that did not happen as planned as my toddler is stuck to my hip. So I went there with her and her snack to keep occupied while I got cut. I had found her searching on yelp and grateful it was just down the street. I called and was so thankful she takes walk-ins because a busy mom like me is never committed to me time. I am just thankful for little things like nap time and quiet play. I told her on the phone I wanted a bob cut and she said sure and to bring in some pictures on my phone to discuss what I wanted. When I arrived she was suprised because my hair was long lol she was very cheerful and wanted to hear my story about why cutting it and see my inspirations in the photos. I loved how cautious she was in asking me if I ever had my hair short. Also noting my type of hair being wavy to remember my hair will be shorter in length then when it is wet. I am very picky with who cuts my hair as I have only cut it like 5 times. I assured her I understand as I cut my hair in a bob 2 times before. She got right to it continuing to have a welcoming spirit with conversation but the thing i appreciated most was her hospitality also to my daughter. She got up on the chair next to me and was snacking on her snacks and her bottle of water. She would talk with her too or assist her too assuring me she is fine and that she will help her to avoid my looking at her to cause an uneven cut. Loved it, especially after she cut it and styled it my daughter was getting a bit antsy and tired she wanted to sit on me. She got on me and she was so pleasant to work with me as my daughter spun she did not look at her as a distraction but a part of the experience. I will definitely come back because of her outstanding customer service and her affordable great service. I walked out with a great hair cut that i love, feeling lighter, a happy toddler who spent time with mommy by herself as it doesn't happen often, and a satisfied customer. Nikki knows what she is doing and I have to tell you, since being in El Paso gave the best customer service I have yet to seen from El Paso. Definitely recommend and will be a repeat customer!!! read more

Nickey is the best! She fixed my mess of hair color and gave me a beautiful haircut. I would recommend her to everyone.

I found this little gem of a hair salon right here on yelp. I was in dire need of a haircut and decided to do some searching as I'm rather picky about who cuts my hair. Niki is, in one word, amazing. I was a little nervous and she took her time to tell me exactly what she thought was shoulder length when I told her that's what I wanted. And that's the other great thing. For some reason, since moving to El Paso, I couldn't find a single hairdresser that actually listened to what I wanted done with my hair. Then there's Niki, this beautiful talented woman who listened to everything I had to say about what I wanted, added her input, and explained the process of what she was doing, putting me perfectly at ease. And to top it all off, she charges way less than if I had gone on base and had someone do a hack job because they didn't listen to what I wanted. I've dreaded haircuts in the past, but since finding Sun City Cuts, I'm looking forward to the next time these locks need a trim! read more
