I believe I've been going to Vera for 7-8 years now. Whenever someone tells me they love my lashes, I go to great lengths to educate them on how lash extensions should feel, because so many women have it wrong. Part of my foundational understanding of higher quality services is largely in part because of Vera. It's the little things you don't realize because you have it good from the start. It wasn't until I moved to the Bay Area that I experienced itchiness, clumps, painful pulling, rashes, uneven eyes, and more. I also didn't realize how lightly she maneuvers until another tech rested the whole weight of her body on my eyeball to stabilize herself. It felt like my eyes were being pushed into my brain. The list goes on and on. I no longer fall into the trap of extremely hot girls batting their lashes for local lash studios with neon lights and moss walls. Cute, yes. Good work, not usually. Spoken from actual experience. Even with a now 45 minute commute, I see Vera every 3-4 weeks or so because I take great care of them. I still recommend Vera. read more

"The 100% response rate." is a LIEEEE. ...so I had a session with Amee on May 15th. She's did what I thought was a fantastic job and it looked great. She was extremely professional and sweet. Here's the but, and it's a BIG BUT. Giggity. Within a day of the session, the lashes on the left was falling out. NOTICEABLY FALL falling out. I contacted her via the email on the card she had because I was traveling for work and assumed I could just respond on my phone. NO RESPONSE from ANYONE. I emailed on the 18th and the 19th and still no response. I even gave her my number to call. I figured it was the end of the week and she'd get back to me. It's May 31 and STILL no email. I attached the email and the same pics I sent them to see the difference between the left and the right eyes. It was such a positive experience until now. The only reason why i went here was because this is the closest location to me that does Xtreme lashes. Every time i left Vera my eyes were red and itchy. Vera has done my lashes the past few times and I found out this week from my favorite lash tech in LA (who lives near my old home and has been doing my lashes for the past 4 years) said the lashes she gave me didn't even look or feel like Xtreme yet I was being charged for Xtreme quality lashes. All and all this business is a scam. It's a shame Xtreme is being used as false advertisement here because they're such an amazing lash brand. I got my eyelashes done by Yen and WOW did my eyes look gorgeous. I rarely even have to wear eyeliner after getting eyelash extensions. I had little purple eyelash highlights put in and got lots of compliments on them. It takes about 1-2 hours depending on how thick you want it, and Yen is definitely a pro. I prefer my lashes to be thicker rather than longer so it takes a bit longer. Yen is very meticulous which is exactly what you need for this. She's friendly and keeps conversation going. She understands how annoying it can get to just lie still. I didn't think eyelash extensions would be so easy and yet make me feel so beautiful! There is NO CARE and NO MAINTENANCE. Yen is amazing! I am so glad I went to her for my first eyelash extensions! I was tired of putting mascara on every morning and when a friend suggested Yen, I took the leap! I got a natural set and Yen talked with me in detail about what look I was going for (length, color, volume) and I felt very comfortable before she began. It was a long process (roughly an hour) but that shows Yen takes her time and is very detailed oriented. I was so happy with my eyelashes - they look natural, feel great and I couldn't be happier. I contacted Vera to get a classic set of lashes done. She was very polite and responded pretty quickly. I was going to schedule with her but she told me that her colleague Joanna had a special going on for a full classic set for $180 which is less than what she charges. She told me that she highly recommends her so I thought why not try her out and save a little money. I love that they have later appointments. You can schedule later in the evening which is great for people who work a typical 9-5. When I arrived I was greeted by Joanna and she was EXTREMELY sweet. Her energy was amazing and she was so kind. She asked me how I would want my lashes and I showed her slither that we joked about and she got to work. I got a classic set and it took about 2 hours from start to finish. Joanna really listens to what I wanted and the lashes came out nice. However, they started to shed like crazzzyyy working the first day. Because the third day I had less than half of my lashes left. Mind you, this is not my first time getting lashes and I am aware of how to take care of them. I did not wet them for over 48 hours and I used no oil products. I texted Vera and she told me that they could squeeze me in to fix the problem which I appreciated. I asked Joanna what she think went wrong and she said maybe it was the glue but they have other types. She filled in the missing lashes and I was free to go. They lasted longer than the first set but I experienced major fallout again and was very disappointed. I decided not to even contact them again because I do not want to keep wasting hours out of my day for lashes that last a day. All in all, they are very professional and sweet but something is not right about their process due to how much shedding happens immediately afterwards. read more

Eyelash extensions are a necessity! I have been to half a dozen places in the last 3 years but I've stuck with Yen since I tried her out about a year ago. It's a 45 minute drive from Hermosa to Sherman Oaks, but I go to Yen because she is AMAZING. Every eyelash is placed perfectly and curls the right way instead of crisscrossing or poking into my eyes like other places have done. Just went in last night for lashes. Not only is Yen super nice but They look SO awesome and natural! Most friends that I have that get extensions look thin and I really don't see a big difference. These are lush and gorgeous and feel super secure so far ;) she takes her time and really does an excellent job. As long as I can keep these babies on a few weeks, I'm sold!! Also, I have extremely sensitive eyes so I was nervous that the glue would bother my eyes. Strangely enough, I don't even feel like they are there!? Even one day lashes make my eyes water like crazy. The positive Yelp reviews for Yen brought me here but Amee did my lashes. She did a fantastic job. I really wanted natural looking lashes and 5 weeks later I still have them. She said they would last 2-3 weeks so this has been a great surprise. No one asked me if I had fake lashes which was great and every morning I woke up feeling like I didn't even need make up. I just wish it were cheaper so I could do it all the time. It has been fun. I'm updating my review over 2 months after getting lashes. I still have at least a third of them! I was expecting it to only last 2-3 weeks. And when I put mascara on now I can see my natural lashes. They are still there. The best part of lashes was not having any mascara though. I hesitate to write this review only because I selfishly don't want it to get difficult to book an appointment. Yen is the best lash artist I've been to. I've had lashes for about a year and half, have tried 4 different lash techs at different salons. I always give the lash techs at least 3 tries to give them a fair assessment before I give up on them. After one session with Yen, I had a feeling she was the one, but I waited to write this review until I saw her again to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I barely felt them as they were going on, no glue fumes or irritation. And once they were on, they felt light, full, & fluffy. They don't tug or itch and they look beautiful. As usual, I do things impulsively and never want to wait for appointments to happen later in the week! Envy Lashes got me in the same day I called for my appointment for my first set of eyelash extensions. It couldn't have been a better experience for me. I was a little afraid I'd end up with too "fake looking" fake lashes, but the technician was great and gave me natural but lush, full beautiful lashes, and she was so comfortable to be with that I think I even dozed off for a little bit! I had expected to pay more than I did, but the cost was comparable to what I'd seen other salons charging, and I think this was a lot more individualized - only one bed in the room, peaceful and professional but also friendly and warm. She put new volume lashes and I am so in love with them. I started getting my lashes done in the beginning of 2011 after a suggestion from one of my friends. After seeing the results the first time I was hooked. I never stuck with one place, generally jumped around to whoever could fit me in. I travel often and would have them done in other states too (Texas, New York, Hawaii). I definitely noticed differences from place to place, had some not-so-good experiences as well. I met Yen at the end of that year, but still tried other technicians along the way. It's been over 3 years now and I have been only seeing her. If she's on vacation, I wait - if she's booked, I wait. No one else touches my lashes any longer. She is the best technician I have run across. And she just gets better and better. My only complaint is she's just too busy. I'm hoping she raises her prices so I can book my appointments easier! read more

Yen is great. Very professional. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the parking is kinda tough. I was able to get the princess spot right in front, but if you don't have the great parking karma I have, you should probably arrive a little earlier just in case. I wish there was something between moderate and pricey. I don't think Yen is overly expensive for the area, but there are definately place where you can get great lashes for less. I did some research before getting eyelash extensions and Yen is absolutely brilliant at what she does! I love my long, full lashes. Getting ready in the morning is so easy now. I just put on my skin care products and add a little lipstick and I am out the door. I suggest going for the more dramatic full look as I started out with the natural look and my eyes felt a little naked....now they are full and long and gorgeous! I love them!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE! I had my lashes done by Yen last week and I really appreciate the time and effort she put into placing each lash in the right place. That's right, one hair at a time. As you can imagine, it does take some time, but oh SO worth it. I've been to places that get you in and out for cheap, but my own lashes fall out easily and you can definitely feel that something is on your eye because they just glue a bunch of lashes in clumps. But, with Yen's work, she is so careful about the placement that it doesn't even feel like you have anything on and they look so naturally full. I also liked the fact that because I wear glasses, she chose the appropriate length and fullness for me. And yes, just like the others have said, she will make you so comfortable that you will knock out. I did. Twice!
