I'm very happy with this salon. Emma expertly cuts and colors my hair regularly. This is a clean and quiet salon and all staff are friendly. There is an online site for appointments. They have great products in the Redken and Purology lines. I highly recommend them. read more

Been nervous and thinking about this reviews for years because the stylist used to be a friend of mine, but that ship sailed long ago. I would never get my hair done by Emma again! I gave her an inspo pic and my hair looked nothing like what I want, not just the color but the placement of my color was in the wrong spot. The color washed out super quickly and left me with this gross orange look after like 2 weeks after i followed the car instructions. The bleach fried my hair. It felt like straw and took forever to grow long enough to cut it and get it to a healthy state. Years later, I finally felt comfortable to bleach it again and it feels nothing like what she did to me. She barely spoke to me while I was in the chair the last time I was there. I have told people never to go there. They are overpriced and find something else to charge you for. I hope she's gotten better after all this time, but I'm not going to find out. read more

I don't write a lot of reviews and I like to give a business a second chance when I have a bad experience, but I felt the need to write this review and to... never go back again. I had a mani/pedi at Envision in July 2012 the day before my wedding. I went with my best friend. Paid $70 + tip for my mani and pedi, expecting a professional spa experience. We were treated with drinks upon arrival. And then it went downhill. We received our manicures at folding tables (not stations, but something they'd just erected prior to our arrival) from two salon employees. Not sure if they were licensed or trained but my experience tells me maybe not. Huge red flag: they used the same instruments (nail clippers, cuticle pushers, etc.) on the both of us, trading instruments back and forth, without sterilizing between uses, and the emery board used on me looked like it had been previously used. Ick. Not only is this disgusting but it's also illegal. They could get fined or shut down for this stuff. I gave them leeway and said nothing because 1) I was with my friend and knew she was clean and 2) we were supposedly the first treatment of the day. I shudder to think about whether or not these instruments were cleaned after use, or the night before, but sometimes you have to let it go. My manicurist was not adequately trained. I noticed her skipping several steps that the manicurist working on my friend did. This became evident when, an hour after the appointment, my polish began peeling off rapidly on all fingers. We heard from someone with experience that this was because the oil was left on too long? I had oil on my fingers the whole time so I have no idea. But this was REALLY terrible since it was the day before my wedding. Luckily it was clear polish. I called the spa and the woman on the phone (who had been my manicurist) begged me to come in and let them re-do it, if not that day then the next week. I think not. Not with your dirty used instruments. The pedicure was fine--they have nice spa chairs, everything looked clean, but again, sharing instruments (via a table between the chairs). Dangerous and illegal. But at least the polish lasted! I absolutely would have gotten a much better treatment at a strip mall nail place and paid half the price. Lesson learned--you don't always get what you pay for. read more

I went here for a balayage, I've had a couple before in the past from Pure Aveda and they did AMAZING for cheaper and in just one session! I had to go to two different sessions with two different stylists at this place. Both were really nice and worked really hard. Unfortunately they must not have been trained on how to do a balayage and they didn't want to be honest about not being able to do it. When you get a balayage it is hand painted on so it blends nicely and isn't foiled like a highlight. They foiled both sessions. The first session came out very copper and patchy/blocky so I went back for a second session. The second session lifted my hair more but unfortunately she did not blend them in like you're supposed to do for a balayage. My hair has very precise gross lines of dark then blonde on multiple strands unevenly. The back has a giant bare spot and I'm going to have to pay another 200-250 to get my hair fixed again. Lol I spent 466 total on both sessions. I'm not saying they're bad at their job, I'm just saying they DEFINITELY DON'T know how to do a balayage and if you want your hair done properly and to save money on a 1000% better job, go elsewhere! read more

I went to get highlights from stylist Jill. I made it very clear that I wanted blonde highlights with NO red or golden tones. She had highlighted my hair before several times and the color turned out very nice. This time however, my hair did have a lot of reddish tones (some strands looked a weird red almost like a botched home job) and I did not like it at all! Not wanting to be a complainer, I waited for 2 1/2 weeks to call the salon. The receptionist reassured me they redo it if the client isn't satisfied. By the time the stylist called me and arranged for me to come in, it was 4 weeks since it was originally done. I could tell she did not want to deal with this. She said she could repeat the toner (she did that with the highlights), but it would only last 2 weeks and I most likely wouldn't like it. She could try something else but it would probably make my hair too dark for me. Then she said she could try something else but it was very expensive since money is an issue for me (I thought this was a VERY inappropriate and degrading comment that should NOT have been said). Then I said, "So there is nothing you can do about it?" She said no. So I asked for a partial refund, and she said no, she couldn't do that. She really wasn't listening to me and showed NO concern that I was dissatisfied with the highlights. She kept telling me the highlights were not red, but were warm or golden tones. To me, they were red. I felt like I just threw away over $100 and thought my hair looked terrible. It is sickening to give a tip for a bad job. Not dealing with a dissatisfied customer is bad advertising. I will tell others to avoid doing business with this salon. read more

There has been one time in my life when my hair was colored so poorly that it brought me to tears and made me want to not leave my house, it was after having it highlighted and colored by Liz. She spent time to discuss what she was going to do, since this was her first time coloring it, as I have recently moved here. I explained that I was used to getting full highlights & lowlights to even out my naturally dark blond hair & I like it to look natural. In addition I told her the formula cannot have red in it, since my hair has red and it will pick up the color and make my hair very red. She told me she would like to do partial blond highlights and then color the rest dark blond showing me the color swatch. I told her I had never had my hair colored. She replied that she thought it would be the best plan. I agreed & checked again that the formula did not have red, she said she would check. My hair is a base color of dull dark auburn that casts magenta in the light with brassy gold copper highlights. In hindsight I realize she never checked the color while it was setting and the formula had to have had red. It looked so awful when done I did not address it because I did not want her to do anything more with it. I will be going to another salon to have it fixed. read more

It's taken me awhile to find the time to write this review, so I'll probably be scrutinized by the employees reading this, because I took so long to write it, but I don't get a lot of free time between my busy schedule with work and school which is why this is very disappointing. I felt the need to inform others and why they should not waste their time/money at Envision. I've been there twice. The first time I went Leah was fantastic but she's probably the only one in there with any talent. She did perfect with my perm, and was very friendly. I went back recently to try hilights which I've never done before I was nervous to start with I just knew I wasn't gonna get what I expected as I sat in that chair I just got that vibe from the girl who was doing it. I had a girl named Megan who hardly talked, my hair looked the same afterwards nothing like the picture I showed her, the worst part though was the "cut" she did on my hair. It's the choppiest job I've ever had done. I could've done better myself. My hair is uneven, shorter than what I wanted, and my bangs are awful too altogether it's he worst haircut I've ever had, it's so uneven I have strands that don't even fit into a pony tail anymore. It's awkward looking. I have to use bobby pins to secure it normally. She really just rushed everything in general even the curl she did looked bad. I didn't say anything when I left knowing there's nothing they'd do about it. I've wasted hundreds of dollars, and I will never do it again. None of Megan's work was satisfactory or worth a penny. Don't trust anyone to do your hair there unless it's Leah! Sad how their employees are so careless with client's hair. Still very upset I trusted them with mine. Luckily hair grows back. Hopefully they can take the money I paid and send Megan back to school to get more experience. Wouldn't recommend at all. read more

I usually don't waste my time writing reviews like this either but the fact that I had to says something.. Jill the hair stylist does a terrible job. Ombré is supposted to turn out different than what it did for 300$. The ends are not blonde at all. Infact they are copper looking and seem to have a good orange glow. Thanks for the terrible job and wasting both of our time and our money. Now we have to worry about where to get it fixed and and pay even more!?... Anyway.. Super rude people, I guess thats the snobby personality of ankeny, how iconic, also they said there was nothing they could do about it or the ends would break off. Well why wouldn't you just tell us it couldn't be ombré ?? I hate people who waste out time and say it can be done when it cant, should have just went somewhere else. Please go somewhere else people and save your money. Or atleast don't see Jill..... read more
