The schools want to tell the kids to correct actions without telling who the people are. If someone is masking what they're feeling and has someone thinking things are good how would you know what to do or how to handle situations. It makes absolutely no sense to me the way schools are required to handle situations. If students have problems with each other, it shouldn't be secretive. It should be brought to like to truly deal with it and ensure it gets resolved. If not, then there's not much I can do to help handle the situation!

Whether they don't feel like regular high-school is a good fit, want to get ahead or need to catch up. Julie was a fabulous teacher the engery at the center is fun and inviting. I attended the Options for Youth event on October 8, 2026, after 5:30 p.m., with friends and…read morecoworkers. We enjoyed the event and the food. The flyer they provided, which is attached here, did not clearly state that the food was only for parents and students of the school. Because we enjoyed the event, I encouraged my son to stop by after work. When he arrived, Rebecca told him that the food was only for parents and students, not community members. When my son got home, I decided to return to ask why he had been given information that differed from what was stated on the flyer. When we returned, I tried to ask about the discrepancy. Staff members and people in the crowd began laughing at us and egging us on instead of addressing our question respectfully. One of the staff members was the man in charge of the sports table section, which was part of the fair where people were informing youth, students, parents, and visitors about available programs. Earlier, I had seen him explaining the sports program to attendees. He wore a black shirt and eyeglasses and had curly hair. I told them it was just food and that a simple, respectful explanation would have been enough. Instead of addressing my concern, the man responded in a dismissive and discourteous manner. I then said that I would leave a negative Yelp review. He replied, "Oh, we're on Google too." I found his response rude because it seemed to mock or challenge me about posting a review. We then went to our car. As we were driving away, Rebecca approached us and tried to make things right. She apologized for the way we had been addressed and offered us a box of food. I appreciated her effort and kindness. Afterward, I saw the man who had made the comment about them being on Google too and asked him for his name. He refused to tell me. Rebecca said, "It's dark. I can't see," even though his face was visible and he was standing nearby. I found the response dismissive and felt that they were avoiding accountability. The way the situation was handled left us feeling belittled and raised concerns about staff training in communicating with families and resolving complaints. Someone representing an organization that serves young people should model respect and professionalism. Staff Rebecca deserves recognition for apologizing, showing empathy, and trying to make the situation right. What matters to me is dignity, clear communication, and courteous treatment. I hope management clarifies the eligibility requirements on future flyers and addresses this behavior of discourteous staff like that guy so other families have a better experience.

Much of the focus seemed to be on themed dress-up days and surface-level activities, while instructional time often felt minimal or unfocused. Students were present, but meaningful academic learning did not seem to be the priority I expected from a public school. Teachers and staff appear to have stable, well-funded positions, yet the level of academic engagement and accountability for student outcomes felt low. It came across more like a day-care environment than a focused learning environment. I'm sharing this because families deserve transparency. If you're considering Alder Middle School, I strongly suggest asking clear questions about how instructional minutes are protected, how often students receive rigorous academic lessons, and how the school measures actual learning growth.

Instead of receiving compassion and immediate protection, the student was met with skepticism and a dismissive attitude from administration. (Dr F ) To make matters worse, the school allowed a mosh pit on the dance floor -- a completely unsafe and irresponsible choice at a school event. This created a chaotic environment where serious incidents could (and did) occur. A school's first priority should be the safety and well-being of its students. In this case, the lack of empathy, poor response, and failure to provide a safe environment showed me that this administration needs serious training and accountability. Families deserve to know how situations like this are being handled. The school officer seemed to be the only one concerned for the student
