    I recently reserved an economy car for $564.99. When I went to pick the car up, they had no economy…read morevehicles available. I rent with budget every time we travel, and if the car we reserved isn't available we are upgraded for free. This time we were charged an additional $30 per day. I needed a car so I accepted the charge. My return hours changed due to my flight changing. I was charged a full additional day for a 10 hour change, but was not told about the charge. The representative told me my new total was over $900. I questioned it and she said my $200 deposit was included in that and would drop off when the car was returned. We returned the car in the same condition we picked it up in and with a full tank of gas. I did not apply any special features. The next day I saw an email saying my total charge was $935.90. I called customer service because that is not what I was told at checkin. The rep told me my $200 was to cover the additional charges ($30/ day for an upgrade I had no choice but to get, and an additional day I was not told I'd be charged) if those were my only additional charges, my total should've been quite a bit less than $935.90. The math just doesn't add up. I was told I would NOT be getting my full deposit back even though that's what I was told when I checked in. They gave me $59 back (which was not included in the $935.90) and she refunded half of the upgrade fee. If they would've told me it would've been this amount up front, I would've cancelled my reservation and went somewhere else. I rent from Budget a lot, but I will not be using them again. Expectations need to be clearly explained AT checkin. Even though I got most of my deposit back, I had to call to fight for it. Still short $40, but I know I'm not getting that back.

    This was by far the worst rental car experience, however, the front desk guy "Sofiane" was freaking…read moreawesome and helped us out when no one else would. First of all we rented an explorer - and had been told ahead of time not to worry our rental would be there guaranteed since we needed a larger suv for us and all of our board bags... well we got into Vancouver an hour late thanks to our flight delay and I'm assuming our rental was given away to someone else.... So the next thing available was a teeny little compact suv - not what we paid for, not even comparable to what we paid for, there were burger wrappers and bags under the seats. we couldn't even fit us and the bags well and the trunk wouldn't close with the little clown car. Mind you this confusion took about an hour and a half or more to finally get settled and we still had to drive two hours to our destination, FUN! Exhausting. Now the female manager there was supposed to have refunded us and give us a discount for not having our rental and nothing comparable - we did not receive the refund and we were charged full price for an explorer that we didn't even get. Luckily Sofiane was super kind and helpful - absolutely hands down the best employee - this guy needs a raise and a promotion, he kept in touch with us and he then made sure that we got refunded what we were supposed to, weeks later when the manager there wouldn't return our emails or calls. The only reason I'm giving a star at all is because Sofiane was fantastic! I will never book with budget again after the fiasco we experienced

    What a terrible rip off these people are…read more I'm looking for a car to rent/ drive for the weekend to visit my sick grams. Three days max. I'm looking around at businesses and what pricing they have to offer. They're all on the expensive side. Around $100 per day here and there for compact/ economy cars. I look at Hertz because my insurance through USAA told me I could get a percentage off. Okay- cool, I love me a discount, so I check out the website of the Hertz closest to me... $1200 for three days. What am I paying $1200 for? An airport fee that I don't have even need, a fee for using their facility, and that car better be indestructible for $240/ per day. There are so many other places that you could go... and please, do. It seems like these people just make money off of people's desperation. Absolutely Predatory. That's probably why the other reviews are bringing up the fact that the customer service is lacking to say the least, they don't have to be nice when you're desperate to rent a car on a Sunday night, or when the twenty other places are out of cars during the Covid summers. Absolutely trash.

Usually, arrived at other airports with their rental car service, it was just a quick check-in and check-out experience. It should be like that than having your customers wait in line just to rent a car. Unfortunately, this service did not exceed our expectations on renting a car. I understand it's summer and people are traveling, but dude. I never experienced s l o w service like this everrrr. It's the worst. If you go to Portland, avoid this Hertz Rent A Car. There's barely anyone working at the front desk. Only one person which is why the line is so jacked up and slow. Almost an hour has flew by. Now I see why people are complaining with low Yelp reviews. Hire more people!
