Confirmation of "Pick-Up" at 2:00 PM, not a pickup deadline of 2:00 PM.

Horrible experience. I don't doubt that some people have a good experience, but the bad experience I describe below evidences multiple problems that ought not exist in a well run car rental company. So, do business with Enterprise at your peril. I won't be back. We live in Sonoma and reserved a car for Saturday though Wednesday for pick up at 2:00 PM Saturday. This was a big holiday for us, getting together in Sonoma with our five children for an extended Fathers Day and 33rd Wedding Anniversary weekend. We thought we would be picking up the car at Enterprise in Sonoma, but the address given to us by phone was unfamiliar so we asked and were told me it was in Vallejo. We were disappointed at having to drive to Vallejo for pickup, but felt lucky that we asked. PROBLEM 1. Driving to Vallejo for the Saturday 2:00 PM pickup, there was traffic so we called to say we would probably be a few minutes late, and were told they would be closing at 2:00 PM, so needed to get there by 2:00 PM or could not get the car. We complained that the confirmation said that the "pickup" was a 2:00 PM, not that the car "had to be picked up" by that time. PROBLEM 2. We said we were driving from Sonoma and if we had been told we had to be there by 2:00 we would have left earlier, but they said they could not stay open past 2:00. PROBLEM 3. We told them our GPS said we would be arriving at 2:01PM, and the agent said that would be too late. I argued that they "could" do so, and were just saying they "would" not do so, even though it was greatly inconveniencing us. I asked to speak to the supervisor, who said if we got there by 2:01 that would be OK. We got there at 2:05 PM and they were closed. PROBLEM 4. So we cancelled our Saturday plans, but still needed a car for the other four days, so even though we were VERY upset with Enterprise, we rearranged our Sunday plans to drive to Vallejo the next morning to pick up the car as soon as Vallejo Enterprise opened at 9:00 AM. When we arrived at about 9:10 AM, I told the agent I had come to pick up the car we had reserved for pickup at 2:00 PM the day before but had arrived a few minutes too late. The agent asked for my drivers license and auto insurance policy number. I told her I did not have the auto insurance information and nobody told me I would need it. PROBLEM 5. The agent said it made no difference because they now had no cars available anyway. PROBLEM 6. Worse yet, when I called between 2:00 PM Saturday and 9:00 AM Sunday to see where things stood, recorded messages said to call back after 9:00 AM, so had been no way to find what was going on until too late. PROBLEM 7. So, after a VERY rude oath, I left Vallejo Enterprise a second time without a car, and again rearranged our family holiday plans. All told, essentially wasting an entire day.

I received a phone call from Kaylee in which she immediately informed me that my rental was in danger of being repossessed and that I would be charged an extra $600. The tone of the call was abrupt and accusatory, without any effort to first clarify the situation. I was extremely alarmed and confused by this information. After reviewing the matter, it became clear that the issue stemmed from the store's failure to properly update my account. This was not an oversight on my part. Despite this, I was spoken to in a manner that felt disrespectful and unprofessional. Additionally, during the interaction, Kaylee was dismissive and rude not only toward me but also toward her own staff, which was uncomfortable to witness. As a customer, I expect to be treated with courtesy and fairness, especially when an error originates internally. Being threatened with repossession and a substantial charge due to a staff oversight is unacceptable. Realistically, I want to give this place one Star, but I'm giving it two because of the sweet older lady at the front desk(so sorry I did not catch her name). She was able to make me laugh and calm me down in a matter of seconds, when the store manager, Ms.Kaylee barely acknowledge me. I have already made a formal complaint through hertz internally.

He called their customer service and asked what time this Budget location closes. He was told they close at 2pm. We arrived at 1:15pm and all the gates were locked up and looks like they were closed. He called back customer service and told the rep his situation. The custr svc rep checked him in that he returned the truck and told my bf to drop the key off at the "drop box".......... He walked around the lot searching for a drop box that don't exist. At this point I was hot (it was a warm day out) and frustrated for him and I can see he's feeling what I was feeling. Called back custr svc again and told them there is no drop box. I don't know if it was the same rep but this one told him there is no drop box at this location......WTF?!! A lot of the reviews talked about racisim and not being treated fairly. Well, I'm almost glad my car broke down to tell you none of that happened to me. There were 2 things that made me change my mind and use Budget Vallejo. I went to pick family up at the airport and my breaks went out on me. Scary! When I searched rent a car places they were one of the only ones opened on Sunday. Also, I read more reviews and came across one that was written by my friend Sean. Sean is one of the nicest and honest men I know. He also happens to be black. When I read Sean's beyond positive review I decided to trust my friend and rent from them. I went there with the attitude that I was going to rent from them, not try to get a deal out of them, and I was going to be pleasant and not demanding. I went with an open mind and no expectations. It worked. Sam, I believe that was his name, was very pleasant to me, upgraded me, showed me how some of things I wasn't familiar with operated, and everything went smoothly. When I returned the vehicle his wife was there and was just as equally pleasant to me. Not one problem. My only regret? I didn't rent from them sooner but I will be again.

DON'T RISK YOUR LIFE WITH A BUDGET TRUCK!!…read more Budget rents out un-maintained, un-checked vehicles, and doesn't care about the fact that their vehicles are risking lives. I rented a 24-foot truck and car-trailer to move from Vallejo, CA to Tucson, AZ. I flew out my brother to help me drive back. The first thing he did was to check the brake fluid on the trailer (in case the trailer comes loose, it has its own automatic brakes), and OF COURSE it was empty. LIVES RISKED NUMBER ONE. If the trailer had come loose, it would not have stopped and would have seriously injured or killed other people on the freeway. U-Haul advertises that they have the lowest decks. I thought that it wouldn't be that much of a difference - but it sure was. U-Haul's decks are lower than waist level. The Budget back deck was almost neck high. The ramp they provide has very little traction. We almost couldn't get the washer & dryer up the ramp. MASSIVE INCONVENIENCE NUMBER ONE. After the truck was loaded, it had a HORRIBLE shudder between 45 and 65mph. My brother said that there was clearly something very wrong with the front end. Given that the max speed when towing a trailer is supposed to be 55mph, and there's no way I could go under 45 on the freeway...we shuddered along. By the time we got to Tucson (20 hours later), we were beyond sore. MASSIVE INCONVENIENCE NUMBER TWO. The AC vents had broken flaps. You couldn't turn them off of one person and on the other. MASSIVE INCONVENIENCE NUMBER THREE. Now the good part. It got dark, we turned on the lights, and were shuddering merrily along. Suddenly my brother says, "What happened to the running lights?" We were completely dark on the sides & back of the truck & trailer. We checked the fuses (I happened to know exactly where they were, because the cover kept falling off onto my knees). It was clear which fuse was bad, because it was burning hot. Literally burned my fingers. Of course, there was no fuse diagram, so we couldn't just pull one of the "extra" fuses and plug it in - even if we had, it probably would have burned out in a second, because there was obviously a short. Driving down the freeway in an invisible-dark truck? LIVES RISKED NUMBER TWO. My brother asked me to be sure to find the fire extinguisher. I looked around the whole cab, and couldn't find it. The next day, in the bright sunlight, I found it, completely inaccessible, WAY behind and under the driver's seat. It's a law that there has to be a fire extinguisher in a truck like that, but, of course, it doesn't have to be ACCESSIBLE! What if the short had caused a fire in the dashboard? LIVES RISKED NUMBER THREE. I tried to call Budget's Roadside Assist, but I was on hold for about 25 minutes. Finally, my cell phone ran out, and we couldn't risk using up my brother's cell, because there might be (and WAS) a real emergency. So, we went the rest of the way with the hazards on. Have you ever driven with hazards on? TICK. TICK. TICK. TICK. For hours. And hours. And hours. MASSIVE INCONVENIENCE NUMBER FOUR. Still, we continued. We had been averaging about 100 miles per quarter tank. We were approaching Phoenix, and I asked my brother (he was driving, thank goodness!) how much gas we had. Just over a quarter tank. We decided that we'd play it safe and get gas at some truck stops just the other side of Phoenix. About 10 miles later, we were just the teeniest amount under 1/4 tank. That should be enough to go another 12 to the truck stop, right? WRONG. As we're driving along, my brother WATCHED the needle drop from 1/4 to zero. Then below zero. Then it ran out of gas. 1/4 tank in 10 miles. When a truck like this runs out of gas, it loses power steering & brakes. My brother is a big, strong, strapping guy, yet he was fighting with all his strength to stop this beast. I was TERRIFIED! We literally almost ran off the road. We would have flipped over, and been seriously injured or died. If I'd been driving, I wouldn't have been able to safely stop the truck. LIVES RISKED NUMBER FOUR. There's more of a long story about how we unstrapped my car, got gas, but the truck wouldn't start due to a lack of a priming button, and then my brother sent me to Tucson while he waited for roadside assist. They did show up (after 90 minutes) and get him on the road again - that guy was great. Meanwhile, another semi almost ran him down (LIVES RISKED NUMBER FIVE) so he had to go sit outside of the truck, at 4:30am, in southern Arizona, in the dark desert, by himself. (Animals, illegals, and drug-runners...) LIVES RISKED NUMBER SIX. The next day, when we called customer service, we were proudly told that they always do a 10-point inspection before renting the trucks. (Whee... so, the brake lights and blinkers work. What about the ALIGNMENT, the FUSES, and the GAS GAUGE???) Do you think Budget is offering me any sort of fair compensation for RISKING MY LIFE? Not a chance. Bottom line? RENT A U-HAUL, AND BOYCOTT BUDGET!

I called Rusty's at the last minute and he got me what I needed quickly and efficiently. He was polite and listened to me complain about Budget and apologized for their bad service. If I were moving again I would definitely call Rusty without hesitation.
