    I had picked up my car at IND airport in the morning - the QR code reader was down, so an employee…read moremanually recorded my rental information and I was good to go (or so I thought). To my surprise, I received an email from Avis in the afternoon to the effect of "We're sorry you missed your reservation pickup window, and we cannot hold the car" which surprised me since I was driving said car. I called customer service and even weirder, they said the system had recorded me checking out the car and checking it back immediately the same minute. They suggested going back to the airport, but I didn't like the idea of driving almost 2 hours, plus there isn't a convenient place to park and walk in. So I decided to try the local Avis. Easy to find, and Micah helped me right away. He dug out my reservation and fixed the problem in the system, printing out a paper copy so I would see the dates/times were correct. As I left, I mentioned that the car had a low windshield wiper fluid warning, and asked if he knew anywhere I could get it fixed. He immediately responded, "I've got some", then went to my car and put in a full bottle's worth. He refused to take any payment, saying this was supposed to have been done anyway. Truly above and beyond in putting the customer first! Thanks to him for fixing what could have been a very messy situation, so I could drive with peace of mind. As a note: this location offers after-hours drop off, and it's also close to campus so a good option for visiting families (students have to be above 21 to rent).

We were counting on it right through the day before when I even filled out an express checkout form. 30 minutes before we were scheduled to pick it up, we received a phone call that there was no van, and in fact, no other options were available. When I explained that we were already on our way there, the jerk says, "Well, keep drivin' south, I got nothin' for ya". When I said we had paid in advance for the rental, I was told that I needed to talk to Expedia to even get a refund. This was Purdue graduation weekend, and I tried to impress on him that they were really putting us in a bind. I was told to "try a competitor, but there was probably nothing anywhere." I asked how this could happen, and I was informed that they routinely over-book. Zero contrition, and totally unwilling to offer any solutions to the impossible circumstances they created for us. I will NEVER forget this abhorrent lack of customer service. Don't give them the opportunity to screw you over like they did us.

I asked if…read morethere were set rates typically used with insurance companies, but the representative I spoke with (Sam) responded in a raised voice and told me he couldn't assist without an active insurance claim. I ended the call, as his tone felt unprofessional and dismissive, despite me simply trying to understand the process. Afterward, I called the Lafayette Enterprise location and had a completely different experience. The representative there was courteous and helpful--she was able to schedule a reservation for me using the insurance company's rate with no issue. It's completely understandable if someone isn't sure how to handle a specific situation, but professionalism and clear communication are still important. I hope this feedback encourages better customer service going forward.

I find that hard to believe but also they had my full name, they could have googled me, and I have an account with Enterprise through which they could have looked me up. So it's almost 6 pm and everyone in town is closed. Thanks for nothing. They were pretty relaxed about being so incompetent. By the way my brother in law rented from them before and they gave him a car with a flat tire he had to go fix.
