Employee just kind of giggled and said, "Nope I can't". Only reason I'm giving 2 start is the car ran well, and they did give me a good rate.

To my surprise, I received an email from Avis in the afternoon to the effect of "We're sorry you missed your reservation pickup window, and we cannot hold the car" which surprised me since I was driving said car. I called customer service and even weirder, they said the system had recorded me checking out the car and checking it back immediately the same minute. They suggested going back to the airport, but I didn't like the idea of driving almost 2 hours, plus there isn't a convenient place to park and walk in. So I decided to try the local Avis. Easy to find, and Micah helped me right away. He dug out my reservation and fixed the problem in the system, printing out a paper copy so I would see the dates/times were correct. As I left, I mentioned that the car had a low windshield wiper fluid warning, and asked if he knew anywhere I could get it fixed. He immediately responded, "I've got some", then went to my car and put in a full bottle's worth. He refused to take any payment, saying this was supposed to have been done anyway. Truly above and beyond in putting the customer first! Thanks to him for fixing what could have been a very messy situation, so I could drive with peace of mind. As a note: this location offers after-hours drop off, and it's also close to campus so a good option for visiting families (students have to be above 21 to rent).

We were counting on it right through the day before when I even filled out an express checkout form. 30 minutes before we were scheduled to pick it up, we received a phone call that there was no van, and in fact, no other options were available. When I explained that we were already on our way there, the jerk says, "Well, keep drivin' south, I got nothin' for ya". When I said we had paid in advance for the rental, I was told that I needed to talk to Expedia to even get a refund. This was Purdue graduation weekend, and I tried to impress on him that they were really putting us in a bind. I was told to "try a competitor, but there was probably nothing anywhere." I asked how this could happen, and I was informed that they routinely over-book. Zero contrition, and totally unwilling to offer any solutions to the impossible circumstances they created for us. I will NEVER forget this abhorrent lack of customer service. Don't give them the opportunity to screw you over like they did us.

The representative there was courteous and helpful--she was able to schedule a reservation for me using the insurance company's rate with no issue. It's completely understandable if someone isn't sure how to handle a specific situation, but professionalism and clear communication are still important. I hope this feedback encourages better customer service going forward.

I find that hard to believe but also they had my full name, they could have googled me, and I have an account with Enterprise through which they could have looked me up. September, 2024 Visit…read more We visited Lafayette / West Lafayette, IN for my uncle's funeral. Our travel plans had us needing to get to Indianapolis for a flight. There is a limo option in town, and you can rent a full limo or ride on a bus like a hotel or rental car shuttle - both good options. For us, a better solution was... a one-way rental from National, which let us be on our own schedule, and to drive our own route... National... where Green Means Go... decades after I first started renting with them, it's still so nice to pick the car we drive. The Purdue University / Lafayette airport is not big, and that can be a nice thing, as often the other facilities, like the rental car offices, are less constraining... in that is the case here. When I tried to cancel the booking, I was told by them that they don't accept cancellations and to refer to the cancellation policy on their website, but the thing was, there is no cancellation policy on their website. When I confronted the owner about this, he said the cancellation policy is only viewable after sending the payment for the booking, which makes no sense. Since I couldn't cancel the booking, I took the car anyway. When I went to the pickup location today, I looked around for the car and noticed it wasn't there. So I tried calling them and found out that they had parked it in a different location than what they said. I had already had to pay for an Uber to get to the original location of the car. When I arrived at the location where they parked the car, I found out they had rented me a Kia Soul instead of the Toyota I was supposed to get. I tried opening the door to the car and found out it was locked. They had locked the keys inside the car, and now I could not get it. I called them up, and they sent someone to see what was wrong; I watched as he peeled the duct tape covering the window to try and open the door. They tried to rent me a car with a missing window in negative-degree weather. Finally, they said they would rent me a super old Chevy Impala, but I had to call State Farm and purchase insurance. Ultimately, I decided they were putting me through so much trouble. That I didn't even want the rental anymore. I asked for a refund, and the "owner" responded that I was "lucky to get a rental."
