This location DOES NOT answer the telephone during, before abd after a car rental! I had to drove to the location to inquire why and the three clerks were sitting in the office doing absolutely nothing pretending to look busy. Only one customer was in the office. I asked why you don't answer the telephone here and the one clerk in the back stated; uh, we're too busy to answer telephones. Stupid answer. read more

TL: DR - This could have been an easy five-star review for this location but since Enterprise felt their time was worth more than mine, I spent the rest of the day running around between clients in a state of lateness for the rest of the afternoon. Anyone that reads my reviews knows I travel, A LOT, so I'm sad to see Hertz going out of business as they knew what business travelers' time is worth and rewarded their customers with the perks to roll out of an airport in record time. Silvercar by Audi is still in business (Thankfully!) and will have Audi A4's, A5 convertibles, Q5, and Q7's waiting for you, and they are all-inclusive with their daily rate. (tolls, gas, satellite radio) My Audi is in the shop, it's at Dundee Automotive which has the best-experienced auto mechanics and customer-service in Kane County, so it was worth the hour drive from my new office to have them wrench on it. I planned to rent from the Enterprise Rent-A-Car location in Dundee Illinois but Enterprise in their infinite wisdom with at least four auto-dealerships within walking distance of the location and countless repair shops closed that location down because of COVID-19 and the Elgin location is taking up the slack. I set a 2:00 PM reservation to meet Enterprise at Dundee Automotive and was there at 1:50 PM thinking in the time it takes to check in my car with the staff that 2:00 PM would roll around and I could make the rest of my appointments with clients. 2:00 PM, 2:05 PM, 2:10 PM, 2:20 PM, and as I head to my car to call and ask WTF?!? Jessica L. rolls up with a Hyundai, now I really didn't care that this was a golf cart with airbags, it was cheaper than taking an Uber and back, but the time I wasted waiting for Jessica L. and my 2 PM appointment put the rest of the afternoon into a tail-spin. With forty million Americans out of work, those of us still lucky to be employed or working for ourselves can't afford to screw-up like this because there is always someone now who can do this work a little cheaper than what is being charged right now. I basically missed a repair window on a client's network because I WAS RUNNING LATE because of Jessica L. and Enterprise Rent-A-Car totally disregarding what my time is worth and appointment window. Thanks, Jessica L! Thanks, Enterprise! I'm now worried about how clean, sanitized and COVID-19 free this rental is given how fugly the touchscreen is less than 40 minutes after getting the car, and what kind of car wash its given on the outside of the car. I needed a rental car during the time my car was being repaired after a hit and run. It was only supposed to be for 3 days. The damage was far more severe than the exterior showed. The time stretched to over 12 days. They were supportive and helpful. When I returned the car, I checked the glove box, trunk, under the seats...to take my possessions. I forgot to check the visor where I had put my garage door opener. They had rented the car by the time I noticed. They called the new renter...they went to pick up my device and delivered it to me!!! We have used this location twice and always been very happy not only with the products (car rentals) but the service. It's not often you feel that good service is genuine, but here I feel that the staff are genuine and good people who would bend over back wards to help me out. They even offered a free ride one day when we had to cancel our rental with them, it was so heart warming. They will forever be our go-to place for rentals. read more

The Elgin Enterprise location at 910 East Chicago is beyond outstanding! We've dealt with hundreds of car rental agencies (not kidding) and they are the best we've ever dealt with. Friendly, professional, outstanding customer service. Locally, I will never go anywhere else. When I had a car accident in November and my insurance company designated them for our rental, this Enterprise store called ME. They were on it, ready to help, and willing to help us out if we needed a rental beyond the time insurance would cover. They followed up with a phone call a couple of days after we had returned the rental, too. Believe me, no other car rental we have dealt with ever had customer service like that. I'm giving this place 3 stars only because of Anson, the assistant manager. He was polite, kind, and helpful, and I needed every bit of it after the morning I had. When I got there, he was the only person working and there were maybe 4 or 5 people dropping cars off/renting cars out. He told me initially that I would need to wait a couple of hours for a car, but the next thing I know he already secured one for me. I was in and out in 30 minutes which is still longer then I expected but he was working alone. The place itself was a little rundown but the cars are in good condition. If I can give 0 I will give it to them,I rent a car via insurance from this company earlier this month as my car had to get repaired.When I returned the rental car ,they returned my 50 dollar deposit after few days as I returned the car in its original state with full tank petrol.But after few days I noticed that they char my account 26 dollars.So,I called them ,the person who attended the call transferred me to the violation department.One lady attended my call.She checked my account and said they will return my money within few days.It was on February 13 th this year.I never received it yet.When I asked her why they charged me ,she just said it just happens,was not willing to agree that it's their fault.Today when I checked my bank account they charged me again.I have never seen a irresponsible place like this ever in my life. read more

Having this run by young kids is why this place is looks and operates poor. They lack problem solving abilities and it results in poor customer service. I had a horrible experience with one of the managers named Kevin. I was waiting for a car for about an hour and was told I was getting the next car that came in. Once the car came in, it was given to a different customer that came in after me.... I then had to wait another hour for a different car that came in and was completely ignored with being informed of the situation. I only figured it out from hearing them talk amongst themselves from behind the desk. Overall, the experience was horrible. Kevin has no customer service skills and is very very rude. I've been blown away by the level of service that this location gives to its customers. I'm always in and out within ten minutes. Being that this isn't a large location like one at an airport, if you need something like a GPS device, I would recommend requesting it in advance so you can ensure that they have one. One time I needed a device and didn't make a reservation for it in advance (completely my error) and they were able to get one from another store which I greatly appreciated, but I wouldn't expect this from all the time as that would not be fair to make them hunt for one. The cars are in great shape. In fact, my last rental (12/7/2011) had 1200 miles on it. I will always use this branch as my local vendor when renting cars. read more

It is our second time having trouble at this Enterprise in Elgin. I always book online through a third party and my reservation was received but they didn't have a car at all for me. In what world, does a rental car shop not have anything to offer? They didn't email back to let us know that either. So all morning the day of my trip I have been running around looking for a rental. Not going back here and I wouldn't recommend it if you want to avoid stress. read more

road side assistance took over 4 hours. when I got a flat tire, I was able to exit the highway and find a parking lot, I immediately called the number on my rental agreement, it took 40 minutes of waiting for anyone to pick up the phone. the lady who took my call told me that I could drive to the nearest airport to exchange my vehicle or a truck would be out to assist within an hour. I had a completely flat tire so driving was not an option. I waited almost 2 hours before calling for my own assistance. my own assistance drove out and changed the tire. I was home unloaded my children and put them to bed before anyone contacted me that they were responding to a call from enterprise. this was nearly 4 hours after I initially called in. I told them I handled it myself. 25 minutes later another company called me, to say the same thing. i had to wait until the next day I returned the car to the rental place because it was Sunday, only to be told by Kevin that the road side assistance is not really enterprise so there was nothing he could do about it but he'd take care of me next time I rent. I honestly doubt I'd ever rent from enterprise again. the way this was handled start to finish was lazy. read more

Both times I've used this place I was impressed with their customer service. They were informative, helpful and friendly. They got me the car I wanted and it was a sweet ride. They even drove me back to the dealership to pick up my own car being serviced. If I ever need another rental, they will be the first place I call. read more
