We asked if we could pick up the car an hour early. They said yes as the car was ready for us. We left the airport and continued on our journey. The car had a noticeable odour. We thought that with time the smell would dissipate. No luck. When we received our emailed invoice, we were charged for an extra hour of use (the early pickup). Right from the start the person at the desk was cheerful and friendly and couldn't be more helpful. She took my wife's ID as a second driver (nice change, no charge, no hassles) and we got to the car after a 3 hour flight in no time. The car was in great condition and exactly as the car overview form they gave me which was a nice change from my past experiences. I had to leave early from the trip so my wife returned the car and there were no issues and she commented how easy it was. Great location to rent from, staff was wonderful. Highly recommend them.

Arrived as scheduled at Moncton airport at 11:30pm on a Friday. We had made a reservation and this…read morelocation is supposed to be open until 1:30am on a Friday (see included photo). Surprise surprise...no one is there and lights are turned off at the desk. The three competitors are all still open. The woman working the national desk said she saw the woman leave about 20min before we got there. An hour long frustrsting call to thrifty customer service , "are you sure there's no one there?" resulted in nothing. Take a cab to the hotel and try again in the morning. No car, no apology and NO EXPLANATION as to what happened to our reservation. They could not care less. The treatment after closing early and not holding our reservation is the worst part. Customer care cannot help you, only the manager of each location has any authority and of course the manager at this location could not be reached. The woman working the budget/avis desk next to the Hertz/thrifty desk said that if it's busy thrifty does not hold cars for reservations and when they are out, they are out. So there is no point in a reservation!!! Thrifty is like the unhaul of car rentals...stay away . Horrible horrible experience. Do no recommend if you are travelling to Moncton airport. ***Update. After several emails follow ups they agreed to give us a $100 discount. Which covers the cost of the taxis from and to the rental place plus a bit extra.
