The WORST experience with a car rental company of my life. Instead of going through the typical airport car rental companies, I decided to go with Enterprise Rent-A-Car since they seemed to offer the best price at the time. Unfortunately for me, this would turn out to be a HORRIBLE and ATROCIOUS mistake. The morning I was scheduled to pick the car, I was woken up with a voicemail from the car rental company informing me there were NO MORE CARS LEFT TO RENT. Instead, they had the audacity to put me on a WAITING LIST. The message ended with the person notifying me he would call me as soon as he got a car available.
To put more context, this was a trip planned more than a month in advance and I was about to checkout of the apartment, pick up the car and go from Calgary to Banff where I had a bunch of events and activities already reserved and paid for. In absolute PANIC, I relistened to the voicemail to get the phone number he left to call him back. The voicemail left was awfully difficult to understand since the person was mumbling. I tried to call back but they were not answering. Again, it was almost checkout time and suddenly I was left with luggage suitcases and no car to store them. Thank god, the apartment where I was staying let me temporarily store my suitcases in their storage room.
Afterwards, I decided to walk to the car pickup place to discuss with the car rental company to see if they were other possibilities. As indicated in my e-mail, the pick-up place was at 120 10 AVE SW, so I walked there. When I got there, I got greeted with another dreadful surprise: door was locked and it seemed like the place was no longer opened. Extremely frustrated, I called again and this time, I got an answer. Turns out the e-mail indicated location was INCORRECT and the place got relocated at another place, 17th Ave SE! I asked if they were any cars available left, of any class/size. Nope, nada. I told him my situation as described previously here, with me being stuck with my luggage and not being able to go to Banff. He then told me it might have been because the reservation was done so late...EXCUSE ME? RESERVATION WAS DONE 48 DAYS IN ADVANCE, IS THAT CONSIDERED BEING "LATE"? CAN THIS COMPANY ALSO CARE TO EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS THE CONCEPT OF MAKING A RESERVATION? AM I STUPID TO ASSUME WHEN AN INDIVIDUAL MAKES A RESERVATION FOR A CAR RENTAL THAT THIS PERSON CAN SAFELY PRESUME HE WILL BE GUARANTEED A CAR TO BE RENTED ON A GIVEN DATE? OR PERHAPS I'M ASKING FOR TOO MUCH?
To continue the phone conversation we had, the person told me he was "sorry" about the "inconvenience" and that he would do "everything he can" to help me. Since the car rental place would close at 5PM, he also promised to give me at least a call update on the car availabilities. You can already guess what happens next right? No updates, no following calls, no e-mails, nothing happened. At least, this time, I figured out this company was an absolute joke and decided to make a last-minute reservation with Dollar company at the airport and thankfully, they had a car available for me to rent. The price total: car rental cost me DOUBLE what I was supposed to pay with Enterprise Rent-A-Car since my reservation was so late and also with the shortage of cars with Calgary Stampede event, had to pay for bus tickets to go to the airport and also the priceless psychological damage done on me for ruining my vacation day, being STRESSED to figure out if I could find a car and finally wasting more than half a day to get a car from another place.
Conclusion for any potential people who want to go with this place to rent a car. DON'T DO IT. If you do, know that reserving a car with this company means NOTHING and they will screw you. They do no care about their customers.

edit: Got a follow-up call with them: apparently the shortage was due to a hail storm but their management decided to hold the reservation in hope things would still work out somehow. [Narrator]: it didn't. Tells you everything about this company! read more
