Enterprise had my request for over a week. I was hit by somebody and they knew I needed a large SUV for my large family. They had I believe 6-7 days to get a Tahoe or an excursion and I was promised one of these. I get there and they give me a five seater jeep that won't even fit my family. When I complained, they said there's nothing they can do so my kids are supposed to miss school for an indefinite amount of time because they couldn't hold a rental that they had ample time to manage. I am so disgusted with this company and I will never use it again. Don't waste your time because they don't listen and they don't care that was very evident by the people I spoke to and by the customer service on the phone, they apologize and just assume that that's going to be enough. I don't know how I'm supposed to get anybody to school and had I known they were going to do this. I would've not left my car. I drive a traverse a big suv that's needed for my LARGE family. Enterprise gave me a 65l Pacifica with 65k miles, a hole and a crack in the windshield and fuel tank cap broken and after a month decided to charged me for the windshield replacement, when the pictures I took at my inspection of the car clearly showed all issues. If you are taking a car with them, take picture of everything. and complain. read more

Had a rental car from this location while my car was in the shop being repaired by my insurance company. The people I met in the office were great and very competent at doing their job. The only down side, and really not the fault of any of the employees per se, is that my rental reeked of cigarette smoke. I always call and notify the agency of this because I do not want to be blamed for smoking in a rental car. I wish rental car companies would really crack down on smokers who smoke in their cars. I hadn't had an asthma attack since 1968, but after driving 4 hours north in this car my asthma came back and I had to spend 3 days of my vacation in a hospital. That result really sucked. read more

My experience with this place went like this: The day I go in to pick up the vehicle, I'm asked if I'll be paying with a credit card. I respond "no" because I don't use credit cards. I'm then promptly told that I cannot rent the vehicle I reserved without a credit card. I'm immediately irked because nowhere in the single email that I got from Enterprise did it say anything at all about needing a credit card for any reason. I asked the kid at the counter why this little tidbit of information wasn't relayed when I made the reservation and Enterprise confirmed it, to which he responded "it's just our policy". As though that should definitively answer my question. Well, now we're at an impasse. I'm on a tight schedule for this trip I'm taking and I need a vehicle, so I ask what options they might have for us plebs without credit cards. He tells me they have an SUV or something. Really doesn't matter. I just need something with four wheels and I need to get on the road, so I agree. At this point the circus starts. The kid informs me that their system could not "confirm my address", whatever that means. Mind you, this was the whole purpose of entering that additional information when making the original reservation. The entire purpose was to save time. Well, unlucky me--turns out their system just glitched out when it came to my information, so they'd need to confirm it somehow. Also, he tells me that because I'm not paying with a credit card I'd need to show two utility bills that list my name and address. Now I'm starting to lose my calm. I again ask why none of this was communicated either before or after I made the original reservation and I'm again told "it's just their policy". So, I inform him that I didn't happen to be walking around with two current utility bills in my pocket at 9AM at an Enterprise because why would I? He tells me that if I can look them up on my phone for him to glance at they would accept that. So, basically I now have to do leg-work to prove to them that I live where I say I live and that I pay bills, I guess? Even though my address is stamped on the front of my driver's license which he saw but said didn't "meet their requirements". My actual driver's license, issued by the state government does not meet the rental car company's requirements for proving that I live where I say I live. At this point I'm ready to call the whole deal off. It's absolutely ridiculous that I should have to take on extra burdens of proof just to get the privilege of giving Enterprise my money to drive a vehicle I didn't want for a few days. Had I the time to make alternate arrangements I would've left then and there. Alas, I didn't have the time, so I start searching through my phone for some way to find my utility bills. This was a real pain because I have my bills set to auto-pay for the precise reason that I don't have to check them often. As I'm doing this the kid shoos me aside to start helping other people as though our business is concluded--poor customer service. I finally find two receipts on my phone that did meet Enterprise's stringent requirements for verification, and when I finally got the kid's attention again he tells me that he deleted all of my information, so he'd have to start it over again! Now, come on! It's possible this was an accident, but it really just felt condescending at that point. Because I choose not to use credit cards I have to jump through all these vetting hoops. It almost felt like I was applying for a loan with bad credit or something, and no one should be made to feel that way for what should've been a simple transaction. The entire act of showing them my bills on my phone felt performative on their part, pointless, and again, condescending. There's no way for Enterprise to confirm what I showed them was accurate. I could've just photoshopped those screenshots, but who cares. I did eventually get a vehicle, about 45 minutes to an hour after I arrived for my scheduled reservation, which threw off my entire schedule for the day. I haven't rented a car in about 5 years, and my takeaway from this experience is that I'll never do it again if I can help it. Certainly not with Enterprise, which didn't even bother to send a follow-up satisfaction survey or anything. Once again showing their commitment to not caring about customer satisfaction. TL;DR: Don't rent from Enterprise without bringing either a credit card or a shoebox filled with current utility bills. If you do they will treat you like a vagrant that wandered in off the street to panhandle rather than a paying customer. read more

They will say they have something and then not have it, when you have come to bank on a 15 person passenger van for a work trip to carry a bunch of guys to meeting for the day. I just completed what I consider an AMAZING service experience with the Ann Arbor location of Enterprise Car Rental. I was referred here for a temporary loaner car while my own car was being repaired. From start to finish I received exemplary service. Zachary Williams provided friendly, timely, and professional pickup service from the auto body shop, shared options, discussed contract details, got me into a great clean, low-mile vehicle and had me on my way in no time. Returning the car a few days later was also a breeze: Mr. Williams was efficient and thorough as he checked the car back in. Staff person, Lewis was also friendly and professional as he drove me to my auto body. My advice to Enterprise: keep these young men on staff and value their work! Zachary & Lewis are treasures in a consumer world that not often enough produces skilled friendly service. Hats off to Enterprise and this excellent team! read more

What a horrible experience I would never recommend anyone ever use this place ever again. I only left one star because it's the least that I could leave. Donna or donia was her name she extremely rude she was talking over my son I feel that there was a lot of disregard disrespect and a lack of compassion given to the Hispanics from this person, English may not be the first lan but omg. he tried to explain to her what the issue was several times. UPDATE: The branch manager at Enterprise on Washtenaw called me this morning. She apologized for my experience and said I should not have been charged extra. She said she had spoken to both the person who checked me in and the person at the desk on that day. The person who checked me in just started doing check ins on his own, so it was a learning experience. I honestly can't remember if it was an oversight or what with the counter person, but it boiled down to a mistake. She seemed sincere in that it was addressed without the sort of undue punishment frontline staff often get when working for a corporation. It's not write up worthy. I think she was genuine in her apology without making excuses. She seemed empathetic and understood why I interpreted my experience as shady business dealings. She is refunding me for that day's rental and offered a discount on a future rental if I do choose to go back. read more

Yes, Enterprise is an evil corporate behemoth, but the staff at this Enterprise have always done right by us. We've rented from them on a couple of occasions. Most recently, I had the unfortunate experience of having my car totalled about a year and a half ago, and my insurance paid for a car rental for a certain time period while we shopped for a new car. This Enterprise worked with our insurance with no problems and got us a car right away. Our insurance rider only paid for a compact, and if we got larger than a compact, we had to pay a small portion of the rental ourselves. This caused the one problem I have had with this Enterprise, and that's the fact that they rarely have compacts available. They let us have a larger car and said we could trade it in for something smaller when a smaller vehicle became available. We ended up paying more out of pocket than I would have liked over the course of the rental, but the agents at Enterprise were apologetic about it and gave us a card good for an upgrade to a larger size for the price of a compact on a future rental. I like smaller cars because they tend to get better gas mileage, but it was a nice gesture nevertheless. read more

I'll admit, my experience here started out a little rocky. I called well in advance to reserve a van, calling back several times to ensure that all was well and the vehicle would be available. I also called on Several occasions to ask for vehicle dimensions (this proved to be a challenge, no one gave me the same measurements for the vehicle). After several debacles and nearly being given the wrong vehicle several times, Alvin made it all work, gave me an amazing discount and a coupon for money off my next rental. The bottom line: it was a bumpy ride, but they made it right. In fact, Alvin called me later in the day and exceeded my expectations by apologizing again and knocking more money off the price! The lack of professionalism and moral integrity of some enterprise employees is astounding. I rented a car for one night, pointed out existing dents to the attendant who without even looking at them, replied to not worry about them because they were small. I drove the car to a meeting, returned home and parked it in my garage. In the morning I drove the car back to Enterprise. After a cursory examination, the attendant told me that all was fine, and I returned home. To my surprise, 2 hours later the same employee called me to inform me that I dented the car, and that I would be responsible for the repair costs. And now I am fighting a multi-national that is intent on having me pay to fix its car. Google it, and you will discover thousands of such cases. read more

We rented an SUV online. We were expecting 3-6 inches of snow and had an appt an hour away (our sedans would never make it). After getting a confirmation online I called the branch and requested a specific SUV (Tahoe), they told me they would put it as a preference and try their best to fulfill. I'm flabbergasted at the lack professionalism at this location. I can't believe that this woman lied to me about the distance from my home to the office. I don't know if she was having a bad day, but she had a major attitude as soon as she answered the phone. She was so condescending. By the time I told her my address I was so frustrated. She then proceeded to lie to my face and say I was 10 miles away from the offices when in fact I was 4.5 miles away a half mile fewer miles than the pickup limit. The associate said I was 10 miles away! Really, I do have access to the internet and can easily map things. I'll never use this company again and if you want good customer service neither will you. I've also let my insurance company know that they shouldn't be sending their customers to Enterprise. I'm sure they don't want Enterprises bad customer service effecting them indirectly. read more

Had a mid sized car reserved, waited in the lobby for 40 minutes while listening as the counter people loudly went about trying to credit someone back 5 days worth of their rental as they were returning it. Sounded incredibly fishy. Then we were asked very inappropriate questions such as how long would we be gone from home, where were we going, who was going etc, all the while these people have our address knowing we would be out of town. Also, overheard an employee asking another customer the exact same type of questions. It felt like we were being set up for a robbery. When it was time for us to get our vehicle, they explained that the only vehicle they had was a minivan!! But they DID have another car, and gave it to a woman who came in AFTER us! I had a extremely bad customer experience today. I reserved a car yesterday night from the central Ann Arbor branch for the morning and they messed up my day. At first they committed that I can go and pick it up before 9h AM and the next day, they called telling me that they don't have a car in that branch and that I needed to go and pick up a car myself from another branch. What happened to the "We pick you up" motto? On top of that, I called all the locations in Ann Arbor and spent an hour with the customer service who told me that "they are doing their best to help me out and that they are ordering a car to the branch the soonest possible..." And she failed to give me an accurate timing. So I recalled the central branch to confirm that the car will be in deed in store the soonest, they denied the customer service's claims and told me that the car won't be available before 2h. Enterprise-Rent-A-Car are definitely not professional in their customer relationships. Their service is crap. I have been renting from this location for about 11 years. Each experience has been favorable. Renting away from the airport is beneficial because you don't have to pay that airport tax. They come and pick you up and drop you off if necessary. read more

I rent a car here when I'm in town a few times a year. The people are always very friendly, as was the case this time. From a customer service stand point I am more than satisfied. Unfortunately, both when I picked up the car (3pm on a Monday), and dropped it off (5pm on a Friday), they were understaffed and there was a long line. In addition, I rented an "intermediate" sized car through my corporate reservation website. I was given a Toyota Yaris, which my carry on sized suitcase had to fit in the hatchback trunk on it's side and long ways across the trunk. I could not have fit two of these same sized suit cases in the trunk. The car had no cruise control and no remote keyless locking or entry. As a female, traveling by myself, this is a safety concern at this point, and considered standard in my opinion. I wasn't aware of the lack of remote keyless entry until after I signed and initialed the paperwork, since that's when you get the keys. There were no other cars on the lot for me to rent at that time, and I had already waited 15 or 20 mins. Waiting longer for another car to be returned and "cleaned up" was not acceptable. When I inquired, upon return, what cars are considered compact, if that is considered intermediate, I was told the Smart Car and Fiat were in the compact class. This is ridiculous. There is a convenience factor to this location, but next time I may just go to the airport. read more
