**5 Stars - A Great Example of Customer-Centered Service** I recently rented a Jeep Wrangler from Enterprise in Knoxville, and the experience reminded me why I continue to choose this company. I was running behind on my way to the airport and didn't have time to refill the gas tank--I'd used about a quarter of a tank and figured I'd take the hit rather than risk missing my flight. When I returned the car, I was greeted by a polite, college-aged representative who asked how everything went. I told him it had been great. He then kindly asked, "You didn't have a chance to refill the vehicle?" I explained I'd simply run out of time. Without hesitation, he replied, "Well, let me remove this charge for you. I'd hate to have your experience with us end on a negative." He took the initiative to waive the refueling fee (about \$27), and while the money was appreciated, what stood out even more was the attitude. I was genuinely impressed that Enterprise empowers their employees to make thoughtful, customer-friendly decisions like this. To that young man--thank you. And to Enterprise--bravo for running a company that leads with logic, care, and trust in your people. This small gesture went a long way in reaffirming my loyalty. I'll be back. read more

My credit card was cancelled (due to someone's fraudulent attempts to use it) a couple of days before my trip. I had reserved a car, but hadn't paid for it, and I didn't have another credit card I could use. I had flown across the country and still needed to get to my aunt's memorial service, an hour away. The person at the counter calmly brainstormed solutions with me, but when nothing was working out, and tears were rising in my eyes, she ultimately offered to have someone drive me to another Enterprise office, just a mile away, at the airport, where I could use my DEBIT card to pay for the rental if I could show that I had a return flight. Then, the man who drove me there made pleasant conversation with me that helped change my mood. The man at the new office who helped me was also kind, helpful and quick, and I was FINALLY on my way. I have always had good experiences with Enterprise. This one was the top, though. I felt like everyone I met worked to help me get where I needed to be. Thank you to everyone! read more

I rented a car here on a recent trip to Knoxville, and I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the small airport and the large rental car operation that was in the parking garage of the 12-gate TYS. Since we landed late at night, the main counter was closed. There was a sign that told us to proceed to the large garage. I have to say, I was a bit sketched out by that, but there was a booth in the garage and two friendly service attendants who helped us out right away. They were very informative and spoke in a great TN accent! Since it was not a busy weekend, we had our pick of many cars in the lot. We were able to upgrade to any car that we wanted for just $5 more! So we picked a hybrid in order to save on gas. After driving about 100 miles, we returned it after filling it with less than $2 of gas. I now know that hybrids are the way to go! When we returned it the next day, after an awesome 24 hours in the small Tennessee town, we were going to be charged more from Enterprise than our original agreement on carrentals.com. This was not acceptable. We explained to the nice service attendant gentleman in the garage booth that we had booked a reservation for much less. We showed him the documentation, and he quickly made the change. In the end, we spent about $30 total on the 24 hour rental - including car insurance and gas! The car itself was very nice and clean, as to be expected, and it drove like a gem. If I return to TYS in the near future, I'd definitely rent from Enterprise again! read more

Yesterday I had a terrible experience at Budget Car Rental on Kingston Pike. The vehicle that the owner Rick reserved for me was in horrible condition. He knew I was planning to drive to Florida in this rat trap he offered me! This put me in a bind, especially since it's fall break from schools. I went to Enterprise at McGhee Tyson and they were very helpful. The vehicle I rented was top notch and only had 400 miles on it. Their staff members were courteous and professional. I wanted a Minivan, but they gave me a full-size SUV and another couple of my Minivan. Then they shared that they gave away one Minivan to another location because they overlooked my reservation. What is the point of confirming my reservation if the manager is clueless to how technology works ? read more

I paid for a sports car rental (Dodge Challenger) in California for a road trip but unfortunately my driver side window was vandalized while parked overnight at a hotel in Columbia, South Carolina. I was given a full sized sedan (Ford Fusion) in South Carolina as a replacement since they did not have a sports car available and I took it because I had to be on my way. I showed up at this enterprise while still on my road trip requesting to replace my full size sedan with a sports car which is what I paid for and was told they could not do it because there were no sports car available. However I had made a separate reservation for a sports car online at this location so that there would be one available when I showed up and there was an available Dodge Challenger right next to the rental counter. The lady at the counter kept making excuses as to why she cannot allow the exchange to occur including saying all sports cars are booked. Well, I was the one who made that separate reservation to "book" that car. Other excuses included how I would have to rent that car separately with a new one way contract, I can only replace if mechanical issue, the car has to come back to the same location etc. At this time it was obvious that she did not want to help me and all these were just excuses. Unknown to her I had already visited other enterprise locations with the same request but they truly did not have a car physically available and the Greensboro NC rental office even offered me exchange with a Ford Mustang convertible because they didn't have any regular sports car class available. I turned it down because I wasn't sure about a soft top since the weather has been bad. Maybe I should have just took that Mustang instead. People at this location (McGhee Tyson Airport) need to have better customer service training. Update: I went to Nashville Airport enterprise the day after and they also did not have a sports car available for an exchange. BUT the manager called other locations around Nashville and found a Dodge Challenger that was available for an exchange. I went to the Madison location and was able to exchange my Ford Fusion with a Dodge Challenger. This is what customer service is all about. Something that I did not experience at McGhee Tyson unfortunately. read more

I am in and out of Knoxville once or twice a year to visit family. The Knoxville Airport is one of those nice airports that you can go from touch-down to being in your rental car in 20 minutes. I used to use Avis in this location because I like their fast service, but I have found if I check in as soon as I walk down to baggage claim (if there is no line), then get my luggage, then I'm off to the garage and the attendants at the booth are waiting on me. Just about as fast as Avis, but usually 20-25% cheaper. At the rental booth in the garage, the attendant walks with me to the vehicle, asks if I need directions, inspects the car with me, and then signs the car out. Every attendant I have interacted with has been professional, helpful, and polite. Customer service makes all the difference. Their cars are clean and they have a wide variety of choices at this location. I have never had a problem getting the type of car that I was looking for. Like most companies, they offer a pre-paid fuel option. Take this if you are planning on driving a lot and believe you can return the car close to empty. Otherwise, it is a better deal for Enterprise than it is for you. NEVER buy your gas from the rental car company *after* your return it. That is very expensive. There are plenty of gas stations within 1/2 mile of the airport on Alcoa Highway at which you can refuel quickly prior to returning. read more

I gotta say that this was the easiest car rental experience I've ever had. It had something to do with the small regional airport (Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport), yes, but also Enterprise knows how to treat its customers here. I was first greeted by a friendly guy at the counter (near baggage claim). He got me squared away quickly. I walked through the parking garage to where the rental car companies are located and Enterprise is easily found in the back. The nice guy handing out the car keys asked if I'd like an upgrade, and I said, "No." Just kidding. Of course! So he walked me to my brand new (9 miles on it) black Jetta Sportwagen. It was purty. And it smelled new. And it drove like new. And it was fantastic. And it got great has mileage. Hello! I drove a ton (over the Asheville NC, over to Kingston TN from Gatlinburg and everywhere in between) on this trip and I filled up the tank exactly once when I was headed to the Hilton at the Knoxville Airport for my flight out the next day. Gas cost me a total of $47 for the entire four days! So, four days after I picked up the car, I dropped the car back off at the back of the garage parking lot (which was clearly marked), and I handed the guy the receipt for gas. He said as long as the tank was full when he turned the key, it's was all good. So, he checked the car (no damage but a little dirty) and checked me out. He could have charged me an extra $8 for the extra hour because I technically parked in the garage at 8:08pm and I think I had to get it back at that exact time so as not to be charged... and there was a guy in front of me being helped... and all my stuff was still in the car... so I was expecting to be charged. Welp, he didn't charge me. I looked at the bill with surprise, and said thanks. I wanted to hug him but that seemed weird at the time. Note that you can walk from the airport to the rental place. You can walk from the rental place to the Hilton. You can walk from the Hilton to the airport. It's all a short stroll, and the airport has carts you can rent for less than a buck to carry your luggage. Anyway, if I could give these folks at TYS Enterprise 6 stars I would. The Alcoa Highway location is my favorite rental location. The prices are very competative since they are located outside the airport. The vehicles are always clean and a variety of models. The staff is courteous and experienced! The last time I rented a car here, I opted to add insurance since my son was also going to be driving the car. Good thing I did because he had an accident and the insurance handled everything so smoothly I was astonished. If I had relied on my policy or credit card coverage, there would have been a huge deductable to be paid. As it was covered by the Enterprise policy, I was not our another penny. That kind of service is priceless! Way to go Enterprise! I will never rent a car anywhere else! read more

Had a reservation for a week September 23rd for one week. I presented my drivers license, credit card and proof of insurance. I was informed that my drivers license was not acceptable. I had recently used the same licence to rent another car in Florida with no problems. Admittedly the license has seen better days, but the manager said there's alot of fraud lately and she couldn't accept it even though my picture and license number were clear and and easy to see. I then produced a copy of my passport with a clear picture, US Army id with a picture of myself and State Farm id. She told me the passport could be a fake too!! How much documentation do you need from a retired US Army Veteran? I was treated with unconscionable disrespect. Plus no still no car. STAY CLEAR OF THIS ENTERPRISE. Rented a car recently for Spring Break! Originally booked a car from the airport, but they had mileage restrictions that caused me to cancel last minute. I decided to try Enterprise on Alcoa Hwy and was not disappointed! One of the Managers, Becca Vincent, was amazing! She found me a car immediately at a much better price. This location has terrible customer service, rude, and unhelpful. Not worth the aggravation. I'm a business traveler who rents over 100 days per year. Have never had a problem with any rental car counter in alI 50 states - except this one at Knoxville Airport. I previously reviewed this location, and they deleted my review. I am never going to enterprise again. I strongly urge others to be ware. I had a car accident July 17 no fault of my own. And while my car was repaired had a rental from here. Until this morning. I was text 1 time only from Kerry's personal phone telling me to bring the car back. My car was ready about 630 last night. They were closed til this morning. She said she reported the car stolen and had the car towed from my house w no warning. Now they expect me to pay along w cleaning fee. She said she had called me and mechanic several times and couldn't reach either of us but neither one have received any notice til today. This is such a bad business. Kerry is what made it bad. My husband and I always rent from Enterprise but this one is the best by far. We had a reservation so it was real easy getting thru the paperwork. Then she had told us where to go to pickup the car. We had got there showed Daniel Loveday our paperwork. He was just about to point out our car then my husband said the Challenger. He then proceeded to let us know that the reservation fell through & if we wanted it we could get it for about $10.00 more a day. We looked at each other and said yes. It was great. When we returned it Daniel Loveday was again polite as can be. We would definitely rent from this Enterprise again. Daniel also gave us 1/4 tank of gas (FREE) because we only used about 1/2, prepaid for a full tank. Also a FREE upgrade . read more

The people at the alcoa highway enterprise are the most helpful and do the best at making sure you get the right vehicle and they are very patient and caring when you need the help at getting where you have to go. Usually me and my husband have great experience at this location but this past time was horrible! We reserved an intermediate level car online to pick up on our wedding day and drive to Destin Florida for our honeymoon for a week. When my husband got there the guy asked if he wanted to upgrade to a mustang convertible for only $50 for the week. Of course he took the deal and we had fun. Well when we returned the car the girl there said she was going to go ahead and charge us the balance, we told her we had paid online before picking up and she claimed it was on hold and she was going to approve it to come out. So we let it go. Well now we have to charges for a total of almost $500 when we called to say she charged us twice they tried to tell us it was right because driving a sports car was $60 extra a day!! This is not what we were told and they were not willing to honor what we were told. We ended up calling the help line who the nice lady put in a dispute for us but we will likely never rent from this location again. They were very rude to us when we tried to explain what happened. My husband obviously would have never rented to mustang if it was gonna be $60 extra a day! Cheers to being newlyweds and newly broke! read more

We rent vans 2-3 times a month for business, and then twice a year for pleasure. We were looking for a new place to rent from, so we called in for information, the number given, with a list of written questions. Unlimited mileage ? Oh yes the woman said...you get unlimited on all of our cars unless we are running a weekend special then the mileage will be limited. We get to Enterprise, and not only had she given us the wrong information, but I don't feel like , if we had gone over the mileage for this trip, this woman's information to us would have been honored. We came in, thankfully at right under the 2,500 limit, but on our entire trip , which was for business, felt like we could not enjoy any little side trips to see sites, on the way home, without having to pay extra fees. Also, as we do travel for business, we use a USB plug, or just a regular plug to charge our laptops, and cell phones. Where we have rented for the past 8 years, there has always been one in the van, this is the first time there was not. This actually did make a huge difference to us, and a big inconvenience. Also, would really like my deposit refunded. I was told it would just be 'on hold', by the guy at the counter, but no, they actually took out $150.00 from my bank account, and now , over a week after renting the van, it sure would be nice to have that money back, as we need to rent again ! Have to tell you too, while all you guys looked really snazzy in your suits...we all felt very uncomfortable walking in...and we are business owners ! read more
