My experience with Sadie was phenomenal! Price was very affordable. Great location. And my hair has never felt healthier!

Had a hair appointment with Juliana last week for a "color correction" that she had scheduled after doing a consultation appointment almost an entire month prior. At the consultation (an entire 10 minute appt), I showed Juliana my goal picture, and she cut a few strands out of my hair to test with bleach as I was requesting to go much lighter than my current color. She called me that same day and let me know that my hair handled the bleaching process just fine and we moved forward with the scheduling the appointment. After arriving to my color appointment about a month later, Juliana was a few minutes late which was no biggie at all, but right when we sat down and discussed my end goal she started to allude that it wouldn't be achievable in one session as she only had so much time. The entire process felt super rushed as she kept mentioning she had other appointments that day and we only booked a 4 hour session (I didn't book the time slot), and after applying a color remover (which didn't work very well and was applied so rushed) she asked if I wanted to apply the highlights on top. My roots were still visibly showing and I had mentioned a few times that she is more than welcome to bleach my whole entire head if need be, I am not hesitant to chop my hair if it fries off. She moved forward with another color remover that only lifted the top sections of my hair but left the underneath still super dark. After almost 6 hours in the chair, I didn't get anything close to what I requested other than being 2 shades lighter than when I walked in only on the top section of my head, with the bottom being still super dark. My hair doesn't look bad at all, it just wasn't at all what I requested. The front pieces of my hair near the scalp were super bright compared to the rest of my head (only at the scalp) and Juliana mentioned if I didn't like it that I should call within a week to request the front pieces be fixed though she won't be able to see me for a month, I just had a week deadline to call. I want to mention, Juliana was incredibly kind so no shade there, but I paid $600+ to get this done and saved up money to do so and left super disappointed. We discussed on the phone later and she mentioned that "we should have communicated better" and she apologized and said she could see me in another month to get it corrected (which IDK if I was expected to pay more money or what as she didn't mention). The salon was nice, everyone was nice, but I paid so much money and was super excited for this change for it to not be what I wanted and felt gaslit on my lack of communication skills when I showed my end goal from the getgo. As mentioned, Juliana was kind but if she didn't feel like the appointment could have been done in one sitting I felt like the consultation appointment would have been the space to mention that. read more

I was pretty disappointed with the experience at this salon. Originally, I needed a last minute haircut for my teenager and hoped this could be a secondary choice when our primary person is booked out too far. The salon itself is aesthetically pleasing. They have higher quality name brand products for sale. They also have local, privately owned products for sale. There's some really pretty items there like the jewelry. The hair ties were fun to sort through as well. The oils were a little odd because they looked so old. I'm sure they don't necessarily expire though. The young girl who cut my teenagers hair maybe said all of 8 words to my kid - and that's a generous estimation. It was the quietest haircut I've ever witnessed. Like truly silent. This alone was enough to prevent me from coming back. How awkward to sit for an hour and say nothing. I can't imagine someone who, and I'm not trying to be rude, but looked like they recently graduated high school, had absolutely nothing to say to a teenager? The problem with this is that it goes against hair stylist culture - they're usually very chatty. In my experience, a quiet stylist, is an uninterested stylist. It was just kind of a bummer. Lastly... that hair cut, which had no layers, definition, or texture... cost me $66. My teenager said she felt like she looked like a little kid, which was completely accurate. She said she didn't trust the stylist to do layers because the stylist wouldn't talk at all, so they couldn't get to know each other. Maybe it was a bad day for the stylist. Idk. I really wanted a secondary stylist, and still intend to find one somewhere else. You don't know until you try. I hope others have a better experience here. read more

Addy earned these 5 stars! She listened to all my thoughts and feelings about my hair, a recommended a healthy treatment and gorgeous color! It was several steps and took some time, but I fully enjoyed visiting with her, talking about movies and music. It was a thoroughly enjoyable time, and my hair is gorgeous! read more

TLDR: I paid $250+ for coloring service that was extremely poorly done, with my roots being uneven and untreated and several areas of my hair being completely missed. It has been over 3 weeks of me requesting a refund and essentially being ignored. On May 8, I came into the salon to have my hair dyed by Taylor. I showed multiple example images and told her that I wanted a bright ginger/red with highlights. I specifically told her that I did not want a stripe of blonde at the front of my head. The color came out significantly darker than I was anticipating and with a money piece I specifically said I did not want. The next day I called Taylor, who essentially told me that she would not be able to make any changes to the dye - including any color correction to make it more like my references. After that, I went to a different stylist for a consultation to see if she could fix what was wrong. She found several glaring issues with the dye job itself. What I got was extremely unevenly dyed, with major parts of my hair completely missed. From the photos, you can see how unevenly and poorly the roots were dyed, as well as the large spot on the back of my head that was missed completely. I ended up having to pay over $500 to go to a different stylist to have them fix the terrible dye job that was done at Ensemble Salon. It would be one thing if I just did not like the color, the big issue here is how poorly the dye job was done and how my specific wishes were ignored. On top of this, I called on May 11th and was told a Manager would call me back - they did not. I went in on May 13th and spoke to the owner who said the manager would call me - they did not. I called again on May 20th and left another voicemail, which was returned while I was out of town and I was informed they "were working on their decision". I called again today May 29th and was told I would need to wait until Monday June 1st for "their decision." I could not be more dissatisfied with the service and treatment I have received from ensemble and I would caution ANYONE against using their services. read more

I needed to make an appointment for a haircut because my usual stylist had family obligations in another state at the time of our scheduled appointment. I went on the website for Ensemble and booked an appointment for the next day, no issues, great stylist, great cut!!lifesavers!! If this is a sample of their stylists, I am impressed!! read more

Do not book with Taylor. I made an appointment with her and it took her over a week to get back to me. Then she canceled on me 15 minutes before our appointment time because she had double booked clients.. The lady that called me to cancel was very rude, hung up on me and refused to refund my deposit. Even tho they were the ones that canceled.. I've been here before and she did a good job, but it wasn't like the pic I showed her.. save your time and money and go to a different salon. Below is the first time I went to Taylor, this is what I asked for and this is what she gave me. read more

Salon atmosphere is very welcoming! The staff are pretty amazing! I've had my hair cut, colored, shampooed and tinsel added and each time it's been great. My hair tech was Riley. She does great work! Prices- it'll range depending on the services you receive. Product- I feel they're decent, price wise- somewhat spendy but again it's name brand. I bought 2 products and they were and are pretty good usage wise on my hair. read more

I've had my hair done several times by Taylor and she has been amazing everytime! She's fun to talk to and approachable, she makes me feels comfortable when I come in for my appointments. She's also upfront with me about pricing and was honest about how damaged my hair was. She took the time to walk through with me about what would be best for my hair, which I appreciated. The last time I was in we did some lightening and I love how it turned out! read more

Amanda has done some seriously amazing work with my hair and she makes me feel at home at Ensemble. I have never gone this light before, but I had always been curious and wanting to! In fact, I drive from Seattle to come see her and I am always looking forward to my next hair appointment! I absolutely love my hair! read more

Lisa with the long hair did not do my hair right, she charged $50 for a terrible haircut that lasted an hour because she was late to her own appointment. I showed her exactly what I wanted, she only did one part of it and I had to go to another place to get it fixed because she even cut the damn angles at different heights. Does not know how to do her job, also she made insults. read more

We just moved to the area from the DC region, and I was in search of someone who would be my permanent sylist. Mind you, I was with my previous stylist for almost 5 years, so this was going to be a major change. My wants (in this order): - someone extremely skilled at both colour and cut - someone easy to talk to - a salon that did quality work and was reputable - salon staff that were easygoing and not snooty For my hair: 1. Keep enough length to do a ponytail, but enough off to get rid of split ends and the remaining brassy hair. 2. Get rid of the line of demarcation so my light hair can grow out nicely, with a color melt. 3. Ash blonde. Not warm, not gray. That fine line. All these were met by Ensemble Salon et Spa, and my stylist Somer did an amazing job! She spent time doing a thorough consult. I showed Pinterest pics, and trusted that she knew what I wanted. We chit chatted about things and the convo flowed easily. In summary, trust your hair with Somer. She will not let you down. I have found my new permanent stylist in Portland! read more

Kylee has been doing my hair for many months now. My natural color is 100% SILVER or GREY. She's transformed and kept my hair at this vibrant, dimensional, and beautiful red, and I came to her with a mess of a head of hair!! Multiple at home die jobs, visible stripes of the different shades, etc. BOOK WITH HER! She helped me lighten the base (near neck) of my hair so we could add a dark purple to dark teal color melt (not posted YET but is done & looks AMAZING). Kylee is very friendly, knowledgable, listens, discusses transition plans, is very sweet natured, a hustler in her own life, reasonably priced and worth every penny. She'll go the extra mile and styles my hair BEAUTIFULLY every time. She's been open to my many wild ideas and executed on them perfectly every time. I can't say enough kind things about Kylee ... ALL STAFF have been kind & helpful. I have a very demanding & busy schedule and the crew has always been kind to me even when I've run late, of which I HATE doing. THANK YOU KYLEE!! I will follow you wherever you go to! read more

Mandi has been cutting and coloring my hair for a few years now and I highly recommend her! She always gives me a great consultation, a great result and excellent product and hair care recommendations. I have been getting my hair colored for 15+ years and have had several stylists, but Mandi is my favorite I've had. My hair is healthier than ever and she totally rocks the blonde-but-natural look. I know she spends a good amount of time on continuing education and she is always giving me new recommendations - my hair gets better every time I see her! Also, if you are going to be spending 3+ hours with someone getting your hair done you had better like them, and I really enjoy spending all that time with her! She is the sweetest! read more

Tasha Greenhaw, what can you say. She has fixed three of my family members hair. The newest one was seeking a new stylist. She is so very picky on who touches her hair. She also has alopecia. She was very nervous about trying something new. She was so happy, excited and delighted with the outcome with Tasha. Tasha was so thorough, detailed on treatment, color, cut and steps to get her hair back on track. This was the first time in 8 months my GF was able to wear her hair down without any noticeable alopecia spots. She said Tasha is her new long term stylist. She is worth every penny spent. read more

I went to Emily, and she told me she could get me blonde. I literally was not blonde after her. It was just a brassy, orange, color. She said next time she could get me more blonde. I don't understand? So I went to another hair stylist and she told me that my hair is super easy to get super blonde and she did it no problem. She always told me that lots of spots were missed in the back. I'm sooo tired of being screwed with my hair. I pay money. Why not do it right? read more

Kylee is literally top tier has been my favorite stylist I have ever had. She not only has taken my unprofessional black dyed hair to a beautiful icy blonde with a lot of dimension but didn't not try to make me feel bad when I decided I wanted to go to a darker color which is now a beautiful crimson red. She has been very educational and has explained the possible outcomes every time we do my hair. She is also a great person to talk to during the process. Done. Just done. Horrible service from these ladies. They claim certain prices to get you to come in then tell you it's just a starting price. I messaged to inquire for some info and I was told I'd be contacted immediately by a stylist that fit my needs. Received ZERO correspondence for a week. Then when I messaged again asking what was going on I was told that the stylist messaged me already days ago and SECONDS later I got a text from the stylist as if nothing happened. No I never got the text. Anyways, I messaged back the stylist and it took forever to get simple questions answered. A new client special turned into a $100 quote. None of them are willing to give you any real price ranges unless you come in, but I live 45mi s away so I can't do that. They asked for photos and still said they needed me to come in. I asked a few more questions and got ignored AGAIN. Still no reply. Screw it. Never again. Hair With Moxie in Gresham 1000009% better read more

I feel bad complaining but not that bad when I look at all of my bleach white spots, my orange, inconsistent color ect!! Got my hair done by Erica, wish I never had gone in! Sad when your hair looked better before you went in! I've been getting my hair done since I was a teenager and this is honestly the WORST have ever had! Oh and she tried to fix it twice!!! She was sweet and nice but got a little attitude and on the defense when I came back to get it fixed and pointed out the problems....untill she actually saw it! It was curled the first time, I noticed little things but when I went home and straightened it I was in shock! Thank goodness the owner was amazing and resolved the issue kindly and although he offered other stylists to do color correction I opted to go down to a salon in Portland to a friend and get it fixed and $ was refunded. ***Nothing negative about the salon, everyone there was friendly and the owner was more than willing to help me. But ugh my hair....and right at the holidays and Christmas card pics :-( people can't believe my hair looked like it did..... read more

I left so incredibly disappointed. I came in for a cut and eyebrow wax as a first time customer. I asked for a couple inches off of my hair and not to cut my layers too short as I'm growing it out to donate my hair with my daughter. I ended up leaving with over 4 inches off and even more off of my layers. I've got an extremely hard head yet my eyes were watering from how hard she was brushing my hair with the round brush that has super stiff bristles. It's the next day and my scalp is still sore. Now for the worst part..... I came in with great eyebrows and only needed them to be cleaned up... the shape was completely changed and she waxed off 2/3 of an inch off the end of my eyebrow. I came back to the chair from getting the wax done and had to take a double take and was just shocked. I have bare spots in other places too. I've been getting my eyebrows waxed for 16 years and this was always my worst fear. The only thing positive about the experience was I liked the shampoo area. It was more comfortable than most. But I'd rather have an uncomfortable shampoo than lose a good chunk of my eyebrow. read more

Ladies: sometimes you gotta break out of your habitual slump and try something new. After 5 years with the same hairdresser, it was time to move on. I chose Tasha because she donated her services to an Autism Event I hosted. I am so glad I decided to switch to Tasha! Tasha is the perfect balance of professional experience, savvy style. young exuberance and a dash of sass to make sitting in her chair fun. She's also efficient and thoughtful. My last hairdresser would take anywhere from 4-6 PLUS hours to process my hair. He did a great job, but I just don't have that kind of time. Tasha is fast, but not too fast. I am usually out in 2 hours with 3/4 highlights cut and style. I really appreciate that she goes over the entire process and charges involved every time. I HATE it when I have to ask how much....or worse, when I sit in the chair wondering what the final tally will be. But, regardless of cost, Tasha's haircuts are some of the best styles I've ever had. We're talking cuts that hold their shape 6 weeks later! I've had more compliments on my hair since I've switched to Tasha. I can't recommend her highly enough! read more

First time experience at Emsemble Salon with Madi was not professional. First off, she showed me pictures of hair colors I've never seen. Prior to my appt I was in communication with Madi & sent her images of my current hair & images of how I would like my hair to look. Therefor my hair goals were not reached. Secondly, as Madi was washing my hair, midway in the process, she asked how I would like my hair stylized and if it was ok to leave it to dry natural. I asked for it to be blown out straight, but she would only take leaving it natural for an answer. She openly admitted that she should have asked me prior to getting her work started. When waiting for Madi to meet me at the station again I noticed everyone around me was getting their hair stylized, including the client Madi had after me. She claimed she didn't have time even though she asked me to come in an hour earlier than originally scheduled, and later added it would cost an extra $1/min to style my hair from her mistake. I was the only person to walk out of the salon with wet hair, and I happened to also be the only hispanic woman there. I wasn't able to see the full effects of the completed work as I got sent home with wet hair. I had to spend extra time at home to straighten my own hair to see the results. Unsatisfied the next day, I spoke to the morning receptionist and left a message for the manager to get back to me. read more
