I can only give this place a four out of five stars because they do not take American Express. Maybe it is just a European way of thinking. But, it brings inconvenience to American travelers. For only 1.70 Euros you get a decent sized cafe con leche and a large croissant. Their croissants have a sugar wash, thus making them slightly sweeter than French croissants. This bakery also offers croissants that are dusted and baked with chocolate that are in the traditional crescent shape. They also sell tiny croissants. Locals frequent this bakery on their way to the train. It has great big windows which allow sunlight to pour in as you enjoy your pastries. The bakery offers a selection of premade sandwiches to which they will add ingredients to taste. If you're in the Gava area, definitely stop by.

Great, Though Overpriced…read more I had no idea that this place was a chain until I went to Barcelona from Sitges. I can't imagine the prices there. The prices here weren't terrible, but certainly more than what I would expect to pay for the small pastries we received. The staff were kind and helpful. My wife enjoyed her first taste of Spanish pastries at this location. If you want a breakfast pastry that's close to the center of Sitges, I'm sure you can do far worse.

Much better than watered down versions I had around Spain (lo siento!) Chocolate croissant was ok, and there was a powdered soft breadstick that reminded me of Caesar's Pizza version of cheese bread in texture. Staff here was nice.

I thought we were going at a decent clip until I noticed the clickety-clack noise of the rolling wheels transformed from a cacophony to a solo. I turned around and discovered Jamie ducked into this bakery as the expansive display of pastries and cookies beckoned. Before I had a chance to offer an opinion, Jamie bought a half-dozen €0.80 Chocolate Dipped Madeleines (Photo 2). Not to be outdone, I ordered a couple of €2.30 Chocolate Topped Cream Puffs and a couple of €1.27 Cream Filled Horns (Photo 5). Well, we didn't have lunch yet and at least we waited until we got to the hotel before devouring our haul. They were quite yummy. Hey, don't judge us. Montroig also has open air tables in the back, plus seating rows on the street front. We avoided the front since that's where the smokers sit and the smell wafts inside. The breakfast menu is extensive with every kind of egg option, breakfast style and espresso coffee choice imaginable. You'll be sure to find something on the menu. I chose the English Breakfast one and it is a big breakfast. Imagine American Breakfast without hash browns but with baked beans and tomato slice. I just got the American the next time. Both were nothing special, just basic. Friends liked their cold cereal and fruit offerings. Service was off both times as the young servers didn't come by enough, forgot to bring requested items or even forgot orders. Food took forever to arrive, and not all at the same time. We were on holiday and really had nowhere to rush off to anyway.
