The Enquirer's home delivery is a joke. Two scheduled deliveries were missed this week and two of the last Sunday deliveries were missed. You call them and they promise to redeliver the missed papers but nothing is done. If they miss another Sunday delivery, I am done. read more

I am an old guy and still enjoy reading the Enquirer rag daily. I have been reading this on the beach in Aruba for years. We were there last week. As usual, the first couple days it loaded as it always does. The third day however, I got a notice that it was not available for reading outside of the US. Like I said, I've been doing this for years successfully. I sent an email, but got the reply that they would contact me. Well, they just didn't. When I returned, I called the number I had for them. Disconnected. tried a second number and got a recording. Nothing personal, but it was not a very professional recording. I left my message with my contact information and have not heard back since. Of course the paper works fine back home in Cincinnati. I really don't like being disrespected by not getting a response to my inquiry. This Cincinnati Enquirer used to have good customer service. Now it is nonexistent. I am still waiting on that phone call. read more

I would email them if you are attempting it; I was hung up on repeatedly after holding for more than 10 minutes each time and I was unable to contact them that way. Same thing with their online chat; it straight up said they were too busy to even chat. I finally got it cancelled today after many emails because when I first emailed them they had an auto message that someone would get back to me and they never did. read more

Now I know sales are down for the newspaper because most people get their news on the 'net these day BUT I wanted to let you all know about a new scheme that the Cincinnati Enquirer has going on. They have a guy posted up in Walmart trying to get people to sign up for the paper. He stands right up by the registers and will keep bugging the crap out of you to sign up. I was in a hurry on Saturday trying to get out of the store because I had items that needed to go into the fridge. He gave me the story of how it was a back to school thing and that they would donate some of the money from subscription sales to the schools. I asked if I could just make a donation because I rarely read the paper...Long story short he got me...I signed up for the Sunday paper only. This was on Saturday. By Sunday I had come to my senses and changed my mind and made a note on my calendar to call them and cancel on Monday before they had time to get me all the way in their system and start delivering. I read the cancellation policy very carefully and I was good to go... Here's where it goes left...I called yesterday morning to cancel and the girl (Alecia) that I talked to said oh no problem blah-blah-blah and told me she would cancel right away. I asked her to send me a confirmation email and to credit my $12.99 back - no problem she said. I wait ALL DAY and no confirmation email so I called back and spoke to Lance who told me that she had not only not discontinued the subscription BUT had up the subscription and amount - I was LIVID. He swore he would take care of it and send me a confirmation email (it could take up to 24 hours he said) but he was going to take care of it and he apologized for Alecia's 'mistake'...Well by the time I get home his 24 hours will be up and someone at the Enquirer is about to get an ear full... I have already contacted my bank and had the charge reversed and the Cincinnati Enquirer blocked from being able to charge me anything but I just wanted to warn people about the way the Enquirer is doing business these days. Since I completely concur with Christoffer M.'s assessment of the Enquirer's quality, I'm going to relegate my comments to my experience with the newspaper's sales and billing offices. A few years back, I subscribed to the daily Kentucky Enquirer. My paper was always delivered on time and the subscription package was very inexpensive. However, I quickly realized that I rarely had the time to read the entire newspaper and could no longer stomach my ever-growing recycling pile. I was able to cancel my subscription with a phone call and never received any further bills. But almost as soon as I'd cancelled, I started receiving solicitation calls about renewing my subscription. Several times a day the same number would appear on my caller ID, usually at the most inopportune times. Fed up, I answered one of the incessant calls and asked to speak to a supervisor. I asked that my name and phone number be taken off of the sales lists. The calls ended temporarily, but soon I was again getting my daily calls from the Enquirer. I never answered again and eventually they gave up. I still buy a Sunday Enquirer almost weekly, but I seriously doubt I will ever sign up for a barrage of phone calls again. read more

Terrible customer service! This last experience is typical of every experience I've had with the Cincinnati Enquirer Customer Service Team. Waited on the phone 1 hour and 45 minutes to speak to a representative yesterday. The rep promised to have my missing paper re-delivered this morning. Of course, this morning the missing paper was not re-delivered. So, we called again this morning. After a lengthy wait, we were connected to a rep who stated that yesterday's rep should not have promised re-delivery since they cannot re-deliver missing Sunday papers. I repeatedly asked if their system could identify the name of the rep who had promised the re-delivery since that person obviously needed re-training. She refused to answer my question, then pretended she couldn't hear me anymore, and said "No Response, call is being disconnected." Seriously?! You screw up my delivery (again), lie to me about re-delivery yesterday and today you pretend you can't hear me and hang up on me? Wow. And that is supposed to be customer service??? You earned the poor ratings you have received. read more

Discovered that the Cincinnati Enquirer, member of the USA Today network, had been billing us over twice the amount that we should we have been charged for Sunday delivery only. Bill should have been $18 / month. We were being charged $40 / month. When we called to dispute, they said that it was a computer error that they were aware of!!!!!!! BUT DID NOTHING TO FIX IT!!!!!!!! This is a lying cheating company that you have to watch if you decide to do business with any part of the USA Today network. They lie, they cheat. Next stop is either small claims or take it up a notch to a class action to recoop overcharges. read more

Billing practices and customer service are terrible. In the past several months they have raised my rates twice without notification to me - or if they have it was some obscure way. Customer service is also awful. It takes a long time to get anyone on the line, same as for an online chat. When I finally was able to 'talk' to someone, they immediately reverted to my old rate and said it was a big percentage off their rate. If there was an alternative to a local paper, I change in a second. Even one star is too many. read more

My family has been getting the Sunday edition of the Enquirer for as long as I can remember; I'd say it's been a household staple for 30+ years. Since my fond childhood days of clipping coupons with Mom and reading the funny pages with Dad, the Enquirer has taken a nosedive downhill. First, the paper shrank in size, including the number of pages and a smaller font. Then it would be delivered irregularly; sometimes not showing up for three weeks straight. Grammatical errors became apparent as copywriters were laid off, facts went unchecked, and the paper leaned towards a conservative slant with a hefty sports section and lacking business section. Recently, we received a bill noting that our Sunday subscription fee would increase by $50.00, thus making a weekly paper cost over $200.00 a year. My family was never a big fan of the Enquirer (let's just say we preferred the Post back in the good old days of being a 2 newspaper town), but when I pick it up on rare occasions, I just feel sorry for whoever still has to keep the lights on. My husband and I used to receive the Kentucky Enquirer but due to budget restraints, we cancelled our subscription. That's when we started getting the sales calls, multiple sales calls a day. Some as late as 8:30 pm in the evening. My husband finally answered them today and asked that we be taken off their call list as we had received 16 calls in a week. The woman assured him that we would receive no further calls. We just got another. I have contacted the Enquirer seven times over the past two weeks, talking with customer services and digital issues departments. I live in Columbus but have been an Enquirer subscriber for over forty years, from print to digital. I can easily access the Columbus Dispatch but the Enquirer continually freezes. So our hometown paper is raising rates by 42%; I keep looking for readers reaction but, OH YEAH they control the content! Today was typical of my recent service. My carrier going 40 mph thru a quiet suburban street, missing my yard by 20 yards and not arriving until 8:30 am! I sent a note denying any increase and have yet to hear from anyone. Customer service was 90% of the time TERRIBLE. I had been a subscriber for over 10 years, had to call at least once per month if not more to report my Sunday paper delivery not being delivered. Keeping track of credits vs what they actually deducted was ridiculous. I just moved out of state and canceled my subscription. When I canceled, the customer rep said I would be receiving a refund of $11 dollars and some change. More than two weeks later without a refund being provided, I called today and they said that I am not getting a refund and that the original rep was "misinformed." In the case of the enquirer, I hope that coupons become able to collect from something other than newspapers, because I know at least 20 people who will drop their subscription if that becomes available. I usually love reading the newspaper, but not this one. It's way overpriced for not enough content and subpar quality. I used to look forward to getting the paper delivered in other cities I lived in, but I would never start a subscription to this one. I'll occasionally buy the Sunday edition for the coupons, but that's it The Enquirer's website has all the local stories anyway and I go to CNN or MSNBC for national news. read more

Worst customer service and print newspaper for a city this size. I cancelled my Sunday subscription when the price went from $8 a month to $12. I was told my subscription went thru Dec. 31st. I stopped delivery on Dec. 24th and said it would extend my subscription for the week. I received the Dec 30th paper but not the Jan 7th. I called customer service and they gave me a call back and hung up as they were getting on the line. I went thru the menus again and finally was told my subscription was ended on Jan 6th and that I was given misinformation as to my end date. So, you can't believe anything they tell you. I purchased the Enquirer for my mother-in-law as a birthday gift (believe it or not, this was really what she wanted). My credit card was charged as I was told it would be. One week the paper would be delivered, the next two weeks it would not be delivered. Then she would get it for three weeks and not get it for three weeks. I have called repeatedly to get this delivery issue resolved because, as I stated above, this is really the gift my mother-in-law wanted for her birthday. After having called numerous times and spending large amounts of time on this matter, they never could get the delivery issue straightened out, so I called and cancelled her subscription. Two weeks ago, I accidentally picked up the telephone because the Caller ID said "unknown caller". This same thing happens when my sister calls and I thought it was her. Unfortunately, it was the Enquirer. The agent BEGGED me to give the Enquirer another chance stating, "we can't have a newspaper without subscribers" and telling me how good a deal I was getting. I told him that it ISN'T a good deal if the paper ISN'T being delivered. I reluctantly agreed to give them another chance and was promised the paper would be delivered the following Sunday. It was not! I called again and tried to cancel my subscription and was told that I would receive a "free month" of newspaper delivery. They were going to credit my account in the amount I had been charged. (I haven't gotten my statement yet, so not sure whether or not this has happened.) Once again, the paper WAS NOT delivered. I was also told three times during this months-long process that a District Manager would be calling me to discuss this matter; this also never happened. This terrible service is completely unbelievable to me. I will never be talked into signing up for another subscription of the Enquirer again. Way to go Enquirer! Printing on pink pages for the October 4, 2017 edition was a complete BUST. It's hard to believe that anyone these days doesn't understand the "Going Pink" efforts to increase breast cancer awareness. So the Enquirer tried to show their support by printing on pink pages for the October 4th edition. Not only did we not receive our "pink" edition on October 4th; we didn't receive it at all. It did come today, stuffed fatter than a sausage in a plastic bag with the October 5th edition. Oh, and no, the edition for the 4th was not printed on pink pages. I have to ask, "Wouldn't printing on pink paper be an additional expense to the Enquirer?" If so, wouldn't it be a better use of the money for the Enquirer to donate a similar amount directly to actual breast cancer research? No need to go on about the horrible customer service, the delivery issues, the removal of several columnists, the recent subscription hike (from $37/mo. for daily delivery to $55/mo.) and of course the lackluster content. I enjoy reading the Enquirer, but I'm not sure what it takes to get home delivery in Northern Kentucky. I sent in a card requesting weekend delivery almost four weeks ago and nothing has been delivered yet. Once I assumed the card got lost in the mail, I tried to go online and request a subscription. The site kept kicking me out with no discernible reason. When I finally called the subscription department, which was what I was avoiding by using the mail and internet options in the beginning, the customer service representative said they received my request but that it didn't "look like" my subscription had begun. Spoke to someone 2 weeks ago ( miracle and extreme patience), I was promised there was nothing wrong with payment, very apologetic, offered free month to make up for lost issues and nothing has changed. No paper, now I cannot contact them. After 45' on hold I was disconnected. This paper isn't worthy the paper it's printed on! Only thing they have going for them is the comics. We are back to the guessing game weather or not we will get our Sunday paper. There seems to be a problem keeping the same carrier for any length of time and it can't be because they can't see my address because I have a large fire address sign (green with white reflective numbers) at the end of my drive. When I call the help line I'm told we will have it delivered by 11:00AM which never happens so then we have to go to the local store to pay news stand process. Oh yes they credit my account but after I call AGAIN to inform them that we never did get the paper. If I did my job this way I would be out of a job and probably applying for a job delivering papers and rest assured I would do a hell of a better job. read more

We had been subscribers since we moved to the area 10 years ago. We have witnessed several changes but kept receiving it. A few years ago we opted to receive the weekend issues as well as the online paper. Since that time delivery had been spotty at best. The last 3 weekends we hadn't received a paper at all -- even when reported. I have spent hours on the chat service -- the poor CSR's could not access the information they needed to answer my questions. One learned that we haven't had a delivery person in our area since the end of April -- information that had never been shared with subscribers. We were told several times to just read the online version -- even though I pay for both. I cancelled our subscription and won't be back. read more

I have been a subscriber off and on for two years. I subscribe when there is a promotion, usually ~$13 a month for home delivery. I cancel when they raise the price and play the waiting game for a new promotion. In the interim I subscribe to the NY Times. While the Enquirer does not compare to the Times when it comes to content and journalism, it does a good job at covering local news. I have never had an issue with home delivery and canceling has been easy. The only issue I have every had is trying to justify the cost if it is more than $30/mo. read more

The Enquirer has never been a great newspaper, but it has gotten even worse in the past year. The price has risen sharply while the quality has declined and delivery has been hit and miss. The format has shifted to having local reporters who supposedly specialize in certain areas. With a few exceptions, the reports are facile and poorly researched, and often biased to the point of being "preachy". There is a real tabloid quality overall. I can get through a daily edition in less than a half hour since the content is so shallow. Then there is the fact that we have had excellent delivery by our carrier for years, but now the paper is often late (or completely missing as it is today). I'm sure it isn't the carrier's fault because I always receive an email from the Enquirer much later in the day notifying me that my paper "might" be late today and urging me to go the online edition. I am sure that this is the Enquirer's effort to soften subscribers up to online "delivery" only, doing a whole lot of people out of their jobs. The online edition is itself a huge problem because the incessant pop-ups and redirects are annoying, the "keep me signed in" doesn't work half the time, the search engine doesn't find what you're looking for, articles that appear in the print edition are either absent or buried in the online edition, and the letters to the editor section is not updated on the online edition all weekend. If you want to have your paper held, you have the options of donating it or getting it delivered when you return (this meant 2 weeks of old newspapers dumped on our lawn when we returned)...no credit. Good luck if you plan to cancel. There is no way to do that online. You have to call if you can get ahold of somebody, but expect to be billed for any delay of cancellation on the Enquirer's part. read more

oh my God i've been trying to subscribe for the last month and half. They refuse to deliver a paper or put me in contact with the delivery person. I have a totally normal address that anyone can find except a person whose job it is to find addresses and deliver things. No wonder this paper will be dead in a a few years. Even if someone wants their product they don't try to get it to them.
