It's so awesome! The kids love it and even adults have fun!! I do have to say there isn't much for the real little kids. It's just got one little train with a small slide and for some reason my daughter just isn't into it. But by next spring she'll be big enough for some other things and she'll be more entertained. I drive through here often on my way home from work, and it REALLY is the definition of a "gem in the ROUGH!!" There's TONS of history here, hidden away in the broken down boathouses just BEGGING to be restored to their former glory. There's a few large picnic pavilions, a dog park, a community garden, a busy playground and spray-ground for the kiddies, and so much more. A few years back, they created some "rapids" for kayakers, but it has very sadly been abandoned/not kept up. The park is the setting for a number of 5K races every year (Mr. M&P even "ran" a few...) and it's also the home of the wonderful Springfield Art Museum. Annual events like the Summer Arts Fest and the Food Truck Competition are VERY popular, but this place STILL (IMO...) gets no respect. Take a detour during the sunset hours, bring your pooch to the dog park, your kids to the playground, or just take a walk to clear your head. Give this "old girl" the respect she deserves...!! As a kid I grew up playing in Snyder Park and Cliff Park, Cliff Park was renamed Veterans Park. For years they've been doing the Summer Arts Festival. Veterans Park is now a great place for me to visit when I return to Springfield Ohio. It's fun to schedule family time during the Summer Arts Festival, which attracts many nationally known tribute bands, as well as some local tallent in addition to the summer arts festival, you can walk jog relax read have a picnic or bring your kids to the playground. The Springfield Museum of Art is located in the park and is really cool. If you're a resident. I took an almost one-year-old baby here today. It is only street parking, but there were plenty of spots. The park has many trees, so there were spots of shade for us to rest. Many kids were playing at the park! But we played in the sand and used one of the many baby swings! This park is so much fun for kids of all ages! I brought a baby that's walking with assistance, and she had a blast! Other kids seemed to love running around and then cooling off in the splash pad. My almost 4 year old grandson really enjoys riding his scooter and his balance bike (with no pedals) all through the neighborhood. We went out several times to do this and his favorite destination was to go to Wedgewood Park. It's a small community park that we can access at the end of a dead end street. Cars can also drive to it. There is a decent size parking lot and a jungle jim with 3 different size slides, tennis courts, soccer field and a swing set with both baby and kid size swings. Until recently the swing set and jungle jim were closed off due to covid-19. The park is seperated from the nearby homes by a cluster of trees. There are also some awesome balance equipment to try! Something else to note: This park is not well shaded in the evenings. I brought a 3 year old to the park and while she had a lot of fun, it was quite challenging for her to climb on much of the equipment. This is a really neat park that nicely bridges natural and active areas. There's a great view of…read moreseveral ponds that are full of birds and surrounded by some bird houses. It's really relaxing to watch the water and wildlife from the bridges. There are several athletic fields, including some very nice baseball diamonds, and a shelterhouse with restrooms. The playground is located near the ponds and is extremely cool! It is nicely worked into the landscape, taking advantage of varying heights with a lot of neat ways to get up and down to the various levels, from boulders to jump on, giant stone steps to take, slides, stumps to step on, and the like. There is a great zip line that kids can easily work themselves, and it really picks up some great speed. There are climbing walls, nets, and musical elements. It looks like there is a really nice water play area during the warmer months - it has a nice flow down the hill, over rocks, under logs, and ending in a sand area. We definitely want to come back again when it's warm to check that out. A paved multi-use trail is also available. We really enjoyed this park!

The bathrooms all over the park are nice and clean. They have a really nice paved path that goes from the front of the park to the back sports fields. They also have a wetland path that connects to the other wetlands in the area. We just started playing more regularly on the baseball fields in the back and they are nicely maintained. Lots of sitting options including benches and bleachers. Overall a really great park.

Could it use some updates, sure, but I'm sure Kettering is getting there. The front of the park is a skate park and the back has a playground, path, disc golf course, picnic shelters, and a pond. The park also leads you to the Kettering Rec Center. I love that the park is rubber mulch. I also like the really cool and unique play structure. I do not remember the pond being so big so I feel like that has had an upgrade in the last few years. It looked nice. I'm not sure if you fish there or not. I do think they need to figure out how to get bathrooms back near where the shelters and playground are because if not you are walking up to the way front. The paths are in nice condition and connect to the neighborhoods for longer walks or runs.
