So recently I took a short tour of covered bridges in this part of Ohio. This one is not too far from Xenia but is a little off the beaten path. It still is used for vehicle traffic (one way at a time) and is in good shape (as you can see from photos).There is a small spot to pull off on the side of the road so you can check this out, but really only space for one or two cars. But to me, it was worth the effort to check this one out. It's over a nice little creek in a shaded area, so this makes the visit a little more pleasant.

The area around this Greene County treasure, between Yellow Springs and Xenia, is so beautiful, especially in the fall, that it should be on everyone's "must see" list if they're in area, or even worth a special trip!! There's a small parking area, and if you get a good map (google was helpful, surprisingly!!) a wonderful hiking/biking destination as well. Make the time for this one, and its wonderful "cousin" in Yellow Springs, Richard P. Eastman Covered Bridge (review coming soon...)!!

The budge no long has traffic going across it, but you can walk across it to get views from both sides. There also is nice signage, including the historical maker. I was there during the winter time but imagine it is very nice during all seasons.

If you haven't attended, it's definitely worth checking out... There are "settler" and native American encampments and re-enactments all weekend, along with tons to see, do, buy, taste and experience... Wonderful for all ages!! Closest I could compare it to would be the Renaissance Faire south of us, though of course, it's a whole different piece of history. Check out the park during the festival, or other events scheduled year-round. A great local resource!!

Some of my fondest childhood memories can be traced back to George Rogers Clark Park over 60…read moreyears ago when my dad would take my younger brother and I fishing, walking Bobo our beagle,bicycle riding , or picnicking. Fond memories. Today over 60 years latter when I visit Springfield, I like to return to the park. I like to bring friends and family to share my love of this beautiful wooded area. I highly recommend George Rogers Clark Park.

My husband, baby, and I recently camped at John Bryan State Park. My mom and I hiked here years…read moreago, so I knew it was pretty. The campground is not exactly wooded, but is filled with big trees, giving it lots of shade and a bit of a wooded feel, which we like. The parking pad at our site was nice and level and big enough for our truck and trailer. The picnic table and fire pit did the trick. The campground was really noisy until exactly 10pm when everything fell silent. It was quiet until 6:30am, so sleeping was easy-- minus the yells of wild animals that fought nearby. The bathrooms were impressively clean! At least the family and women's room. I didn't shower there, but will remember for next time how clean they were. The camping fee was comparable to anywhere else we've camped. Will be back!

John Bryan State Park is a beautiful 750 acre park near Yellow Springs, Ohio. It's a great place…read moreto take a nature hike, especially during the fall when the leaves are changing. The trails are clean and well kept. If hiking isn't your thing, there are lots of areas to play frisbee, let your kids run around, or have a picnic in the shade. It's about a 45 minute drive for us, so we don't go often but when we do go once or twice a year, we always enjoy this beautiful park.

It was a stop that was unplanned but happy we found it! - air conditioned nice restrooms with changing table - parking is near the playground - drinking fountain outside and inside with a water bottle fill station. - splash pad for cooling off May-Sept - bike trails nearby - covered shelter to relax It has a playground that is hot, hot, hot but your kids can cook off at the splash pad adjacent to the playground. It has a neat little train but you can't go into it at all. Fun to look at and for photo ops. Parking lot is close enough to see your kids from the car. There's a porta potty next to the splash pad right now or you can walk to a nearby very new updated building with facilities. I will add the photos of the building and bathrooms. Covered shelter with two picnic tables next to the park.

Good park area. It's located south of downtown. There's plenty of parking. It also is located by a bike trail so it's a good place for getting off. The building is now used as a bathroom so it's a bike trail rest stop. It seems clean. Pick up some brochures about what to do around here. There's lots you can get to by using the bike trail.

This site is officially part of the air force base but also a part of the National Parks system…read more It is where aviation literally took off - where they tested flyers and trained future pilots. One of the signs says it is the world's first airport and I liked that description. It is a beautiful meadow filled with a wide variety of wild flowers. There is a parking area with a trail, or you can follow the road to get to where the majority of the placards with historic information are located. (although there isn't really a place to park in that area). The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that it can really use some TLC. The signage is a bit faded and the replica structure could use some tidying up and some pieces painted or replaced.

You can drive through it but there's really no place to park your car nearby to admire it. I can understand the frustration of the people on the road because I can imagine how often people were blocking to road to take pictures. I parked in the neighborhood a few blocks away and walked over. The trail is on my list of ones to ride my bike so I hope to see it from a different vantage point soon.
