Good ol Enmore! Had such a good laugh with Tanyalee Davis tonight...hadn't heard of her before but she's hilarious!!! In your face personality...love it! Intimate kinda setting in a small room seating maybe 40 peeps and not sold out which is a shame cause she was really good value.... If getting here by car for a show make sure you're early as parking is a nightmare of epic proportions even on a Thursday night!

Originally built-in 1908 and today still sporting its Art Deco revamp of the 1920s, this beautiful theatre showcases the beauty of a bygone era and is the only one in Sydney with all original features. The Enmore (as it is known) helps to give life to the area, and has in the past and continues to have the best music acts both Australian and international. The Enmore is a much more intimate venue than the alternatives such as the Metro, Entertainment centre and Hordern. An actual theatre, it has good seating, a dance floor and good sound. If there is ever a choice of seeing a band or live act at any of the above venues and The Enmore, The Enmore will sell out the fastest. It's that simple to see how good a venue it is. Live bands are great here, as you have good vision no matter where you sit (or stand). Be prepared to stand even if you have seats for any band because everyone in front of you will stand up. I have also seen burlesque here on the main stage, and a comedian during the Sydney Comedy Festival in the 'Yalumba' wine bar. The wine bar isn't the best venue but even more intimate than the main stage so worth it for comedy gigs. There is a Ticketek outlet in The Enmore which is handy for buying tickets when you can't stand to use the internet or hotline.

The Enmore theatre is a venue that offers something special to the masses of Sydney through its history and decor. The venue has seen a massive upgrade since the last time I was here. It's now almost up there with any of the theatres in the city. The lobby is quite fancy now and has flashy lighting and all the likes. Given the location the area gets entertainment suited for a more of alternate scene. This is the home of Sydney comedy festivals and some quirky things such as Avenue Q ( Adult version of Sesame Street ). The theatre is located about a five minute walk from the Newtown Train station so it's very convenient to get to. The area has a great selection of restaurants and bars at its door steps so why not make a night out of it and continue after the show. The venue is multifunctional so occasionally it will be for standing concerts and also a seated venue so the seating offered is only plastic chairs so don't expect a lavish throne for your behind cause this ain't your kinda place. With all that said the venue is a great spot and one I'm happy to go to when I see something interesting showing there.

Enmore Theatre is a beloved entertainment venue in Sydney's inner west. It has played host to some big names in the music industry including Oasis, Queens of The Stone Age, Blondie, MGMT and The Pretenders. In 2003, Mick Jagger decided to drop in and 2000 very lucky people rocked out to The Rolling Stones. It's not a particularly big venue but its calendar is full. Every month, there is something going on-bands, beauty pageants, trivia nights, comedy acts, and increasingly, events for children such as Wiggles concerts. I have seen Will Anderson, Tommy Tiernan and Danny Bhoy here on separate occasions and I love the ambience and art deco feel of the place. If you want some coffee before the show, it's a bit of a walk to the bustling King Street so it's worth checking out the Box Office Café, located on the premises. The Enmore Theatre Box Office not only sells tickets to events within the theatre, but also for events held at other venues. Mental note to self: must attend the tribute to Jimi Hendrix on October 29, featuring some great Australian artists such as Darren Middleton (Powderfinger) and Jak Housden (The Whitlams).

I've seen a lot of positive reviews of the Enmore theatre which is nice, but don't correlate well with my experience. It's a tired cinema in bad need of an overhaul. You've got odd jobs done on paintwork and some of the decor is just falling apart - some of the underlying infrastructure is exposed. Step outside during an intermission and a plethora of smoker detritus assaults you because they've nowhere else to go. Restricted lobby space means a milling and confusion during intermission as well, and the lines for refreshments are just too long to endure for the 15 minutes you might have. The seats are hard and also tired, and end up in a back ache for me. The theatre needs a couple of million invested in it. I don't know the conglomerate or family that owns it, but they aren't keeping it up.

Great location for eveything except parking can be a problem the theater has a very interesting art deco style this venue has been around a long time and has had many big names perform

I saw Simon Taylor @7pm then Dave Eastgate @9pm on 23 July. They are both stand up comedians and were each taping a show for an upcoming ABC TV show.

The very first band I ever saw was at the Enmore. I begged a friend's older sister to drive us, and much weird Icelandic fun was had. Until we got out on the street to find her car, as with all on the street had had the front window broken in and the contents rifled. Don't think the friend's sister ever spoke to me again. That was, mmm, quite a few years ago, and the Enmore's just the same (except the area's less crime-ridden than before, so fear not for your car). I didn't realise that it is actually classified by the National Trust as one of only two surviving art deco theatres in Sydney, 'the only one in its full original condition'. Read: grungy. Lovably grungy. It's used mainly now for mid-level bands (ie:bigger audiences than a pub, less than a stadium) and for comedy shows. The above opening hours are for the box office, performances vary. Various students of my acquaintance have also been known to hang out in the Box Office Cafe next door when a band's playing, coincidentally, I'm sure, when ticket prices were beyond them. A piece of inner-city history.

My partner had been wanting to check out a pub during our time in Sydney and I found Keg and Brew close to our hotel. How to order drinks and food can get quite confusing if you are a foreigner. The first floor of the pub is a bar and the second floor is where you pick up your food you order from the bar. Everything is completely self serviced. Unclear of the process my husband and I sat down at one of the tables on the first floor. We then realized that people were ordering from the bar and we asked staff regarding how the process worked. They told us to order with them where we would pick up our food on the 2nd floor. After ordering, we actually decided to relocate to the 2nd floor without realizing we needed to pick up our drinks from the first floor bar where we ordered them. After a bit of confusion, we were able to get our food and drinks. I opted for the steak special (added some mashed potatoes on the side) and a red wine. My husband opted for the chicken parmesan and a beer. After a bit of confusion at first, the food was actually quite delicious. We enjoyed our items as we enjoyed our beer and wine after a long day. It can be a place of lodging, but also many pubs use it as well as it relates to past liquor laws. Using the term "hotel" as a way to skirt liquor licensing regulations. Strawberry Hills is a nice Aussie pub just down the street from Central Railway Station. It looks a little divey on the outside, but the 2nd floor interior is quite nice and stylish and even has free Wi-Fi. This is a good spot to get a drink and quality pub food at a reasonable price in Sydney. If you are dining upstairs, you order your food and drinks at the counter. If you are dining in, the staff then brings the food to your table when it is ready. While they do have a wine menu, there isn't one for the large assortment of beers and cider on tap. If you are not sure what to order, I would list the types of beer and cider that you like to find one that suits you. As for the food, there is a regular menu consisting of pub food and a late night menu of different pizzas. The pricing here is quite reasonable as most mains (name for entree in Australia) are under $20. Had a Sunday night dinner here and opted for the slow cooked lamb shoulder ($18) with a pint of Bulmers cider ($7). I chose lamb because it is harder to find this meat on menus in the US, whereas in Australia it seems to be a standard offering. The lamb was terrific as the meat was fall off the bone tender. There was a bit of fat and gristle on the lamb, but I was okay with this since this helped to accentuate the meat's flavor. The accompanying roasted vegetables and red wine jus were also delicious and complimented the lamb. As for the cider, it was my first time trying Bulmers and I really liked it. It has a very crisp and refreshing taste that paired well with my meal. Enjoyed my meal at Strawberry Hills. The food and drinks here are good and value for your money. I like the ambiance of this pub too as it is modern, yet is casual enough to be a local drinking hole that you frequent regularly.

Sports Marketing. "Oh my God!" Or "OMG!" if you're born post 1990. The most demoralising, depressing six days of my life!
