We got a little of everything gulai ayam, rendang, cah kangkung, and beef kabobs with a variety of sides. Everything was so fantastic we finished all of that!! My wife and I agreed the panang curry sauce of the gulai ayam was the star of the show...she was literally eating it like soup by the end!

Flavors are just a-ok compared to the rich flavors and textures we had in Amsterdam Indonesian restaurants. I'd say this is tuned down quite a bit in flavors and spices. Comparing to Indonesian restaurants in Amsterdam may be unfair, but considering the huge southeast Asian population in Sydney, I thought the food could be more authentic. The food is average - meat and ingredients freshness, and cooking were ok quality. The rice was so hard that I couldn't swallow. Price is reasonable, but portion is quite small. Plus you pay extra for rice. I'm old school when it comes to Asian cuisine and I know it's not common anymore, but rice should be free or accompanied with main dishes. It's a simple family cafe with good service.

I chose a fish dish, which came with two or three large pieces of fish, fried without a coating. I asked for the least spicy sauce, but it was still way too spicy for my tastes! It came with a huge portion of sticky rice. I love that kind of rice, but am unable to eat much due to carbs. My husband got a combo plate that had a nice variety of meat around the huge mound of rice in the middle. His came with a very spicy sauce too, but the main curry sauce was nice and mild. The restaurant itself is small and old. The workers were very busy, but also pleasant and friendly. It was a new, fun experience for us.

We got a lot of dishes to try. Our favorites are Pempek, Bakso, Mie Ayam Jamur, and Es Campur with Durian. The Pempek tastes really good. The fish cake, sauce, cucumber, and everything else remind me of how it tastes when I had it in Indonesia. Bakso comes with vermicelli and pangsit goreng. Too bad there's no Indonesian sweet soy sauce and chili condiments. They will compliment very well if mixed with the broth. The beef meatballs and pangsit goreng are good. Mie Ayam Jamur is good all around. Siomay Bandung is disappointing. Don't order this! The siomay itself is very bland. It tastes like an over-steamed bland tofu with a glob of filling in it. The only flavor we could taste was the peanut sauce. Last but not least is the Es Campur with Durian. Good amount of durian on the top and variations of jelly and nata de coco at the bottom. Great dessert. Give this place a try, but don't sit near the wall because a lady at the next table saw a small roach on the wall seat and freaked out. I sat on the wall seat too, so I quickly grabbed a piece of tissue and killed it with no hesitation. Don't know why I did that. Usually I am the one who is scared of bugs lol

The pictures and reviews looked good, so I decided to check it out. You can go straight to the counter and place your order. You have the option of eating in or taking it to-go. I ordered the Nasi Lemak. As advertised on their menu, it's their signature dish. This is Malaysia's national dish, it's a fragrant coconut rice dish served with peanuts, crispy anchovies and pickled vegetables. I got it with beef rendang. Instead of beef, you have the option to get it with chicken curry. I never had Malaysian food before, but this breakfast dish was very similar to what Taiwanese eat. I thought it was not bad. I'm pretty sure it's good for Sydney and you would most definitely get something better at Malaysia. If you're eating in, once you're done, you can bring your plates and utensils to the counter.

Everything tasted super authentic and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portion sizes and protein content was definitely above average which is impressive as the prices were extremely reasonable. The staff was happy and attentive and the space was large and clean. Solid 4 stars ! Give it go

Answer - you round up the troops and head down to Harris Street, Ultimo! Just a warning - I think it's best to take notice of the name of the Cafe and stick to ordering just "Martabark" Martabark is like a spongey, dense pancake served like a sandwich (top layer/filling/bottom layer) - served with various fillings ---- chocolate, cheese, durian, peanuts or savoury fillings.. We ordered the chocolate and peanut Martabark for my son - in Bali last year he would eat a whole one by himself, everyday! Needless to say he was in HEAVEN! This yummy treat is really something to rave on about - you must try it before you die ;) We then ordered a range of other dishes such as "Gado-Gado"* Nasi Campur Ayam * Nasi-Goreng * Martabark Telore * Satay Ayam * Durian Juice and Ice Cendol.. The savoury dishes were such a huge let down.. I wouldn't recommend eating here for anything other than the Martabark.. I felt sorry for my father-in-law as he was so excited about tasting authentic dishes.. He had a sad face when we left.. :( It's such a shame as there is another great Indonesian restaurant literally 5mins walk around the corner (however they do not do Martabark) The restaurant decor was brand new and clean. The staff were okay too.. Overall this place is really the only restaurant in Sydney (that I know of) who exclusively make Martabark on the spot! So - many props to them for that! Their Martabark is divine! #yum
