Valley Nursery - Great service. A yard of grey limestone gravel was perfect to level my existing gravel to the sidewalk. Not too hard for me to level it out.

You'll pay a bit more than Lowes or Home Depot but for me it's worth it to get something you can't buy anywhere else. Next, "the OK"--the quality is so-so. I think some of their stuff spends a lot of time in the greenhouse. For example, their perennials are kind of leggy and their roses had "bloomed out" in early May--much earlier than they should. Shrubs and trees were better. Last, the "not-so-good"- Their return policy is pretty strict. They give you a pamphlet that shows you how to plant stuff and also has an entire page with their guarantee policy. Read the guarantee policy. There are all sorts of exclusions to their plant guarantee and you need to save the dead plant, tags and receipt. In addition, I purchased more plants than I needed (just in case) and luckily made it back within 48 hours (Apparently, you have 48 hours to return anything--even if it is still in the pot). Otherwise I would have been out of luck and even then, I didn't get a refund but store credit. Bottom line--this is a good place to purchase plants you can't get anywhere else but I'd go to the big box stores for the basics.

This location has gone…read morefrom offering a huge selection of healthy plant and tree varieties to looking like desolation. Their selection is not near as good. Lots of root bound and dying plants to choose from now. Years ago we landscaped our entire yard from tri-city. It now looks beautiful. Fast forward to now and we are in a different home trying to landscape. We went to tri city hoping for another good experience. Wow! What a disappointment. We ended up only purchasing 11 little boxwoods. They were yellow in places but seemed ok. We planted them the same day and shortly thereafter they began to worsen. I have called tri city for help. You can only get an answering machine that tells you to contact them via their website. I have now emailed three different managers and NOT ONE has reached out to me. We will not be back. Save yourself the hassle an go to J&J.

Because J&J always answers their phone, and are very pleasant and helpful when i ask a question. Tri-City, on the other hand, almost NEVER answers their phone. I can't tell you how many times i have called Tri-City and got a recording instead of a person. So, off I go today to buy a cubic yard of soil mix from J&J because they are professional enough to answer the phone. Five stars for J&J!
