Bonfante has large box, older, beautifully pruned trees!…read more Note to homeowners: Don't even think about buying one unless you plan on renting the appropriate BIG equipment you'll need for safety and tree survival! It's a big deal getting these boxes in the ground! Details of our big tree journey: Bonfante's crack crew tightened up the box itself and loaded the 1,500 lb tree into the bed of our old F150 truck. They tied it down and covered it with the landscaping tarp we brought. By driving slow on side roads, we made it home with the tree in perfect condition. And there, in the truck bed, it sat as we went through many different schemes to safely unload and plant it. We finally realized we needed to rent the big all terrain fork lift with a 30' reach crane, for $400 (delivered to our site by A-1 Tools, ours for 2 hours). My husband jumped in and practiced using it while I gathered two extra sets of hands @$15/hr from Home Depot. After rehearsing our roles and hand signals, we practiced small lifts until we were sure we could lift and lower the plant. Navigating tile patios, rock areas, and under the phone line, we got it in, facing the right way, and breathed a huge sigh of relief. Total planning time: 20 hours. Total time to lift and plant: 1 hour. This is our first, and certainly last, Specimen Tree, and we go out to gaze on it all the time! It's beautiful!!!

When I took the plants home, three were so diseased with brown, green molded, foul smelling, wilting, shedding petals and leaves -- I was afraid their sicknesses wouild transfer to pets and humans. I had to throw them away. The remaining two lasted 5 days, even though I put them through an intestive care regime to nurse them to health. N I looked up this business to see if it was a front for importing inferior plants from overseas. Really really bad quality guys. I'll never shop here again.

There was no doubt in our mind that we wanted H&J Flowers to be our florists for our wedding. Over the course of a year and three months, Hylary responded promptly to emails, sent similar examples from previous weddings based off of our mood board, let us know how the ceremony garland could be reused at the reception, and worked within our budget. She didn't recommend what I had originally envisioned for our ceremony background since it would have looked odd; instead she suggested something similar that would work well with our venue ceremony site. My recommendation is to hire a florist who is open to your ideas but is also realistic when it comes down to the game plan and that is Hylary. * Wedding Day * A lot of the work that florists do is done behind the scenes while you are getting ready so I appreciate what Hylary, Jason, and Jacquie had to do in order to make everything look perfect and it truly was. H&J couldn't have come any closer to what I had envisioned for my bridal bouquet. The moment I saw the pergola garland arrangement at the end of the aisle, I was floored. At the end of the night, the only thing we had to do was take home the bouquets and centerpieces. H&J cleaned up the rest of the florals and picked up the candle rentals.
