I came for help with one thing, but something else happened and they switched to help me with both. I saw 6 therapists. Each one was just as good as the others teaching me what to do, explaining why I was doing it, helping me get it right, printing out handouts so I could remember what to do when I got home. My case is complicated and we talked about what could and couldn't be done and schedule for MRI's and followup. Getting an appointment was quite easy and they send a link by text to actually check in you load your information including ID and a picture so when we arrived there it was a quick process. We were sent up to the second floor and were told to follow the orange line to a waiting room that was packed! We were told they will see 900 Patients today! Yes, 900. The parking lot was full too and I am handicapped so my hubby had to park a ways away. The wait was over a half an hour but once they got us in the room it went quickly. I was taken to Xray. The 4 stars is for the lady in Xray who lacked kindness. After your appointment you wait for a few minutes and a Gentleman comes in and schedules your MRI (which is done in the same building) and then the followup. He was wonderful even if he was a Kansas City FAN.

Every department I have dealt with at this facility has been very poor. From trying to make an…read moreappointment(put your life on hold for an hour), to the initial exam by Dr. Chapman that was so aggressive that left me in pain on my good knee for 3 days to just now getting off the phone with them when they sent me a collection demand letter and then a week later sent me a statement for the actual services received... of course the representative was rude. DON'T GO HERE. My doctor was Chapman, when he was comparing my good knee to my bad knee he kept popping pulling and digging his fingers under my knee saying he was trying to find my ACL. It was so intense that he left my good knee bruised for three days and my bad knee now had this large bulge under it that was much more painful than before. I saw another doctor at Mayo which is where I am going now and his evaluation was delicate compared to Dr. Chapman. MRI was a pain to deal with because they had a young inexperienced tech who wrote things in her chart that I never said just because I have a small needle in me. People get MRI's all the time with metal in them and this was tiny. I had to make at least 20 more calls to departments with numerous unreturned calls to finally get the MRI. My doctors assistant at one point cancelled my appointment as I was on my way there so I could not answer my phone while driving and then I never got her to return my calls. Made three calls that week to reschedule and still never received a call back. That's when I finally called Mayo and I feel like it was a call from God. I had people approach me in the store without even knowing me to say not to go to New Mexico Orthopaedics and now I understand why. Scheduling, billing, the doctor, MRI, medical records, all of the departments were challenging, even compared to other local large medical facilities like The New Mexico Cancer Center or the hospital. I cannot even imagine the nightmare of going through with a surgery with them. Save your sanity. Go somewhere else. There are other options!
