That's the great part about it, you've got to find what's speaking to you! At Yesterday's I noticed a lot of little knick knacks or trinkets of course, really cool furniture that made me wish I had a big house to furnish, some clothing, and jewelry! Also a ton of baskets of course! Since it's all vintage or pre-owned, items aren't in perfect condition of course. However I did notice everything was in pretty good condition. That doesn't always happen in antique stores! Yesterday's is a must on the list for shopping in Alexandria!

I do believe sometimes the prices can be a tad too high on items but for the most part they are pretty fair and do mark things down if they sit more than a couple weeks. Not often do you find yourself in a store where they say they won't sell you an item they had for…read moresale. I had picked out a pair of boots that were on the shoe rack for sale but when I brought them up to the counter I told the gal that there was no price listed on them she said she couldn't sell them to me. She explained that because it lacked the tag information (to pay out to the correct consignment account) she couldn't sell me the boots and to come back on Monday. Okay I understand but shouldn't they have a policy in place to remedy this situation? Like a standard price for the shoe type and sort out the details later? Also the fact that she said "come back Monday" not "oh can I take your name and number?" Or "We can hold them for 24 hours (or whatever amount of time) after we notify you of their price" or even "I'll get the price and hold them and why don't you call on Monday and you let me know if you'll still take them" NOTHING. The gal that works here is really nice and all but that's just a super weird thing to be told at a store and then turned away. I asked my mom if she ever experienced this at her Krupkes location in Fergus Falls and she said that any time it has ever happened to her they have a price for her before she leaves the store and have never REFUSED to sell her an item. The only thing I can think is that this location doesn't have access to the same data or they literally don't care to have and contingency plan in place or even a notable sign that's says items missing tags won't be sellable on short notice. Their open hours 10-5 aren't even convenient for the average full time worker to stop in during the week. Fat chance of coming in on Monday even if I had the capability to.

I like small town thrift stores as they price things accordingly and profits help social service agencies. A win win for everyone. I searched cds and records and the whole store. Needed a key to use the bathroom. I found this cute homemade rug made by persons served at STEP. It was 30"x 27" and $16.20. Amish rugs go for much higher. Plus it was made with pride. They also have a store in Staples, MN. STEP stands for Serving Teaching & Empowering People. I've worked in social services for over 20 years, so supporting this store is gratifying for me.

I grabbed a basket. This store is severely cluttered, with narrow aisles for 1 shopper or cart in them. They seem to mark their products with a black sharpie. This store is enormous. It looks like a lot of Costco, dollar tree excess stuff that didn't sell. Some prices were high even, such as $24 Legos and $8.99 towels. There are a boatload of toys and clothes. I bought an ND flag, Reeses popcorn, and 2 bottles of pop. They had Glacier National Park stuffed animals and excess stuff saying Silverton, CO. Places I had not been to. This pottery was alright, but then marked with a sharpie. How dumb. This place was very similar to Gopher Bargain Center in St Cloud. Oh, there's a lot of expired Easter candy. Anyone?
