The house had not been painted since before we bought it 10 years prior, and the paint it had on it when we bought was already not great.we had a ton of dry rot, sections poorly filled with bondo by the prior owner, and old termite damage that had been filled with bondo. We did our due diligence and got several quotes. The painting quote itself was in line with most of the quotes we got, not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive. However a few things really stood out to me. First, All of the other quotes seemed to not actually include the cost of any of the fascia boards being replaced. 1 quote wouldn't touch them, 2 others said they would but on the actual quotes it just said "repair and fill with bondo". Mark was the only one who was straight forward. He said " look, idk what it's gonna be exactly and we won't know till we power wash, but in my experience based on what I'm seeing, you should budget an extra X amount for just wood replacement." When I called and asked the other companies I got quotes from that would repair paint they were weirdly cagey on this. In the end, we did infact need more wood replaced than what was originally planned for but the final product was well worth it. Which takes me to the other point. When it came time to finalize exactly what pieces needed to come down and the extra cost of the unplanned rotted wood, he gave us options. Options that included places we could forgoe a change in one area to balance the cost of the wood replacement in another. He didn't try to sell us on anything unnecessary, or weirdly extravagant either. He gave recommended paint colors based on what he painted his own house and gave advice on how to best pick the colors we wanted. Once we got into the project his team took over and were a pleasure to work with. They were hyper responsive to texts and calls and questions, and fixed things or helped adjust stuff as needed. For example we wanted a very specific color for the front door (Tardis Blue) and they got it custom matched for us. A few small places where I noticed something that needed a quick adjustment that I called or texted them for was fixed the next time I looked. They moved all of our outdoor furniture, grills, etc and put everything back exactly as it was when they started. They didn't leave any trash or mess as is often the case with multi day home reno projects. In all, the project took 2 days longer than originally anticipated but we had more work than anticipated. All in all, the experience was good enough for us that we ended up hiring them to do some painting of our interior doors that we just had replaced, and we'll likely keep them in mind the next time we need any painting.

I initially contacted BuiltPro to see about painting my rusted wrought iron guard on the balcony. I spoke with Tim for 10 minutes or so, and he spoke in detail to me about the rust and what to expect in refinishing a rusty wrought iron guardrail. He told me to make sure of certain things if I was to contract with another painter, but never tried to pressure me to use him or contract with his company. Ultimately, I decided to get the entire exterior of my home painted (including the guard rail) and I started getting quotes. I contacted 4 or 5 companies including Tim and Builtpro. Long story short, Tim just asked me to take pictures of the house all around and was able to provide a super DETAILED and professional quote online detailing what would be done in each picture I sent, versus the other painting contractors telling me that they need to meet and see the house in person which is always an inconvenience and takes a lot of time (I had 2 others actually come out). Tim's quote was literally 25% cheaper than the other 2 or 3 quotes I got, and due to his professionalism and the detailed quote, I decided to go with BuiltPro Painting. The workers came ON TIME (even early) on Monday and every day, and were very clean, polite and professional. Edgar, who was the lead, spoke very good English and it was easy to communicate with him. He addressed all the issues I raised, they fixed all the stucco holes and cracks (not just patch over it - they broke the stucco open and fixed the inside instead of just applying a 'bandaid'), they cleaned and re-caulked all my patio doors, and overall did an excellent job. Edgar and the three other workers Alexis, Adrian, and Louis were all very detailed and hard working and I am very pleased with the final result. They were clean and moved back all the sheds, and took down a satellite dish on the wall that we no longer use. They finished the entire job in 3 days. I would totally recommend BuiltPro based on my great experience with them! Attached a few pictures.

I really hate to do this but I had to come back and update my review…read more Where to start. My first project with Jemner was the repair project where my AC didn't have a water level sensor shutoff and the condensation overflowed and poured through my ceiling. They made it look like it never happened. A couple years later I decided to hire him for a much bigger project of painting cabinets, walls, new counter tops, backsplash, baseboards etc. At first, the cabinets looked INCREDIBLE. Everything we hoped for. But after living in it for a few months the paint began to split and flake away. (See photos). You can tell a lot of the cabinets weren't sanded or filled correctly. The satin paint finish (Jemner's recommendation - said it was what he recommended to everyone) either wasn't capable of the abuse kitchen cabinets take or it wasn't prepped/applied correctly. Either way, it wasn't a good result. Every single cabinet door that they reinstalled after being painted had the hinges screwed back in using a power drill with no max torque setting which allowed the screws to rip away at the wood. This resulted in every single... and I mean EVERY SINGLE cabinet hinge coming loose after a few weeks because the screws had nothing to grip on. Open the door and it immediately drops 1/4 inch. If you didn't notice that happen then when you shut the door, instead of it going back into place, it would bump into the cabinet door above or below it immediately chipping the paint despite having soft closing hinges (that's how bad the paint job was). When they reattached the drawer fronts they didn't screw the fronts back into the drawer box the way they should be (inside of the box straight into the drawer front). Instead they just held the fronts up against the drawer box and sent new randomly sized screws into the inner corners of the box and into the front which has left nearly every front slightly unlevel. I only noticed this today (hence why I finally decided to update this review) when one started really going uneven and I went to investigate. What I found was the inner corner screws and noticed they sent a screw through the paint of the drawer front when reattaching the fronts and then crudely painted over it (it's so obvious now that I am aware of it). Terrible work. In addition to the shoddy paint job and reinstallation of the cabinet doors - he charged me for the paint ($800) in addition to the price he quoted me despite saying the total included all paint and materials. Moving onto my door frames. What a nightmare. They had to come back multiple times to fix their work. They missed spots with the paint, they got paint on the wall (different color) all around the place. They PAINTED OVER MY DOOR HINGES and their justification was "you said you were going to replace them eventually". Oh, so I guess in the meantime I want them crudely painted over with white paint?? Also, since they had to sand and paint the inner door frames to match the new paint, almost none of my doors will shut correctly now. I tiled my guest bathroom myself but didn't want to deal with the baseboards so I hired them for that too. That was probably the best result of everything in this big project despite it being pretty awful. every corner where the baseboards meet for a 90 degree turn had gaps between them and were unbelievably crudely caulked to fill the 1/4 inch gaps. I can't tell you how much paint I've had to clean off of my hardwood floors, windows, and furniture. Thank god I went with matte wall paint because it has been fairly easy to remove with warm water. But let me just say, they did not care about where paint went. My $800 soundbar with a fabric front and the back of my brand new 70" TV in my living room where they painted the walls had paint all over them and couldn't get it removed. I have tried to get them to remedy it but every time they come to fix one thing they make something else worse. Jemner and his son are very nice but their team is lazy and unskilled. Now the worst part. Disgusting even. One of the guys (maybe more than one) used the guest bathroom when nature called. I didn't think it was right to deny them that access when Jemner asked me if they could during the project. Well, after they left for the day mid project, I went to use the bathroom and noticed something in the trash bin. There was a huge and THICK smudge/smear of poop on top of the bin with toilet paper hanging from it. They were throwing their poopy toilet paper into my out in the open trash bin instead of flushing it. Wretched! The worst part is it was left in such a way that there is NO WAY they didn't realize it was fully exposed like that. Epilogue: they ate all of our fancy/expensive handmade chocolate my wife and I brought back from our first ever trip to Europe. Jemner offered to buy us more but it was from a small hole in the wall chocolate shop in Italy so it was irreplaceable. Point being, his team is rude and inconsiderate.
