The crew were warm, knowledgeable and capable, gave us a great experience. We saw multiple dolphin pods, some even up close. One small note, there were multiple references to Scientology headquarters being in Clearwater and famous Scientologists homes in the area, which might offend some. read more

Captain and crew were awesome. Didn't see many dolphins but still a fun time. Boat seating is covered and while moving the breeze is nice. The stop for shelling was disappointing as most shells were pieces from the waves crashing over and over on the island. read more

In my opinion this is the best boat cruise for viewing dolphins. I always see the most dolphins on this boat. I remember going on this even as a young kid. I also enjoy getting off on the island to look for shells. My family went on the sunset cruise last night and we got to see many dolphins. We even got to see the hypopigmentation dolphin! When we got to compass island we got to see a bunch of living things such as multiple starfish, sea urchins, conch shells etc. i wish i had pictures of the dolphins but I only have videos. read more

We did see dolphins, one in a marina we weren't allowed to enter. We idled for about 20min while the dolphin was about 200/300 ft away. We were able to see a fin. Then we motored around the bay for a bit then sat on an island for 30mins, cool for getting on water not so much for dolphins. read more

we decided last minute to do the dolphin tour and it did not disappoint! They have clear instructions on how to get to the boat and had very friendly and informative staff. They were courteous to each guest to make sure everyone got to see the dolphins. We stopped at an island for 25 minutes and it was so fun getting off the boat and explore! This was such a fun experience. We saw dolphins in the marina area before we even got on the boat. We got nice tour around the water/bay area and saw a dozen or more dolphins, including a mom and baby. The ladies running the boat were knowledgeable and definitely seemed to care about the animals themselves. We got to stop at a little island and collect shells. Found a few good ones and saw a sea star. On the way back to the marina we were told about the celebrity homes along the water. This was a nice treat to our vacation and pretty affordable. read more

The little island they take you doesn't have much to it (my daughters & I refer to it as 1 tree island lol) But it is cute & good for pix & shell hunting. Very nice excursion. We chose this group after walking to the marina and speaking with the crew. They were friendly and had lots of options for tours throughout the day. They have a guarantee that you will see dolphins, and it didn't take long before it became true. We came across some who seemed to be out "fishing". Later, our boat and another tour boat created a wake that the dolphins seemed to enjoy. We also made a quick stop at this manmade "shell key". It was a nice spot to take quick pics, put our feet in the water and search for shells. On the way back, they gave us a rundown of the mansions we saw. Overall, I'd recommend this (around 90 min) family-friendly tour. read more

This tour was very affordable and enjoyable. Before you get onto the boat they explain that if you do not see any dolphins while on the tour you will be able to come back and take the tour again free of charge. However, during my tour it was a beautiful day and we got to see many dolphins jumping through the water! This is a great tour because not only do they take you out to see dolphins, but they give you a tour of around the island, which includes great views of beautiful homes (including the celebrity homes of Hulk Hogan and John Travolta). The tour guides were very knowledgeable and answered any questions that people had. Oh my God. What an awful experience. First off, this is 1.5 hours long with the most uncomfortable seats in the world. Oh yeah, and the picture you take in the beginning is 10$. This is the most boring thing we have done in our week long trip. The people that work here are awful specimins of human beings. When we arrive, we are greeted by a rude, maskless man. He informs us we need to wear a mask on board. My sibling forgot one, he made us pay 2$ for a single disposable mask. Bro what?! What a friggin rip off. For 1 mask? While the person had no mask in sight. We got on the boat, and they told us to take our masks off for a picture. We do so, and we sit down. Confused as to why we take a mask off for pictures on the boat, and as soon as we sit down. Not even a second was spared by the psycho captain lady "PUT YOUR MASKS ON." Oh my. And then proceeds to belittle us, telling us she will remove us since we didn't have it on right this second. Excuse me? We are paying customers what is with the crazy attitude. Two seconds before hand we were literally told to take it off. Nobody in Clearwater has been this rude about masks. Nobody has ever spoken to me and my sibling and I that harshly during any vacation. So whats the deal? Put ur mask on , then take it off, then put it back on, then take it off when you get to a crusty island they decide to take you to. Absolute waste of money and time. Do not waste your time playing mask charades with these crazy people. The captain is the rudest person I have met in a long time. What is wrong with her? Legit, whoever manages this place needs a lesson on customer service. This place should be shut down for its incompotence. Worst experience ever had in Clearwater. This tour by far was the best bang for your buck. We spotted a dolphin as we pulled off shore and teamed up with another boat to make waves for the dolphins to play behind. It was such a cool experience to see them playing in the wild. Then we went to an island and you could collect shells and snorkel if you wanted. Chips and pop or water on the boat was $1. I felt this was very reasonably priced and there was also a military discount. Staff was also kind. read more

There was about a total of 10 people on our cruise (has max capacity of 38). It was very spacious so we could social distance. It was mid January and weather was in high 60s. For sure bring a jacket it gets breezy on the water! Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. About 2 hours long. We stop at One Tree Island to collect shells which was so cool. There are snacks and beverages available for purchase on board. There is a bathroom on board. We saw about 5 dolphins. A great highlight of the trip! A little are you find at first but it is across from crabbys. Good for families and couples! read more

So feel that this dolphin search was awesome. We floated around and found a parent a baby. I would say it was within the first 10 minutes being on the boat when the encounter took place. The little island we ended up on was very cute. The ride back, the partner on the boat was very informative of the different sights and houses he was pointing out. This was one of the best experiences of mine and my wife's time in Clearwater! While trying to find a boat to sightsee dolphins, this one was on the cheaper side so we took the plunge. Not 5 minutes into leaving the dock we spotted our first dolphin! As we moved further, we spotted a group of them. The boat captain communicated with another boat nearby to create a wake between the boats to see if the dolphins wanted to play. As they did this, the dolphins began jumping the waves and it was amazing to see. They also stopped at an island for about 30 minutes to allow us to get off and hunt for shells, swim, and snorkel. There are so many dolphin tours to choose from....and it's a tough choice. What drew our family into Encounter with Dolphins was the pit stop on an island where you can snorkel. The overall boat ride was fun. We did see some dolphins. What was extremely frustrating was that the captain kept putting the captains side of the boat in the line of sight for dolphins. So being on the opposite side of the boat, it was almost impossible to actually see dolphins. That's really my only complaint. The people on the opposite end of the boat were left to hope a dolphin showed up next to them because everyone would pile up on the captains side and leave no room to see anything. With that being said, it is nature and anything can happen. I'm sure no two tours are the same. I would give them another shot. read more
