They performed a bacterial test which showed a level of 44--something they described as extremely high. The doctor then pointed out other factors he said required a deep cleaning, which would cost $844 out of pocket. He also said I would need to return every 3 months for additional cleanings. I insisted on a regular cleaning. He first said I would have to sign a form stating he was not responsible if my teeth "went bad," to which I agreed. Then he said that a regular cleaning here would be "just brushing the teeth." They refused to do any meaningful cleaning unless I paid at least $844 for the deep cleaning. In the end, I left without any cleaning at all. For context: I grew up with poor dental care, but for the last 30 years I have brushed and flossed after every meal--three times a day--and I don't snack. I get my teeth cleaned every six months, and every hygienist I've seen has commented on how little work my teeth require.

I received a coupon in the mail for a new patient visit that included x-rays, cleaning and a consultation for $59, which prompted me to go ahead and give them a try. The service was great from beginning to ending. The hygienist was very friendly, gentle and thorough. We chatted throughout my appointment like we've know each other for years. I think her name is Kassandra. My experience with her was so great that I made an appointment for my son on the way out. They also give you a goodie bag which includes a toothbrush, floss, toothpaste and small bottle of Listerine. She also schedule my 6 month cleaning before leaving her suite.....great visit all the way around.

I chose this office because it's closer than my usual dentist and had great reviews. But after my experience, I seriously question how those reviews are being generated. The office is noticeably dingy, dust on surfaces, worn furniture, stained x-ray aprons, etc. The standing X-ray machine wasn't working, and after a few attempts and a computer restart, they just skipped it entirely. While I was waiting in the room I started noticing more off putting details, some bugs on the floor, dirt around a drooping plant, and what looked like damage in the wall with some sort of debris and a few bugs on it. At this point I was already questioning if I wanted to stay but it was the interaction with the dentist, Dr. Miller, that ultimately made me leave. He came in, and spoke to me from behind while looking at a computer screen. I had mentioned on the form that I sometimes had an issue with dry mouth and he asked if I wanted a "paste." When I asked what it was, he gave vague, non-answers like "something to help dry mouth." I had to ask multiple times before he vaguely mentioned fluoride and "other things." At that point, I stopped the appointment and said I wasn't comfortable continuing. Two things really bothered me about this interaction: 1. Either he didn't clearly know what he was recommending, which is concerning. 2. Or he chose not to explain it properly, which is equally concerning. Patients have a right to understand what is being recommended or prescribed to them. After I said I was leaving, the dentist immediately exited without another word. No explanation, no attempt to address concerns, nothing. The staff member did apologize, which I appreciated, but I will not be returning.

Both Dr. Flanagan and Tammy are incredible--kind, friendly, and excellent customer service. Dr. Flanagan is a conservative dentist and doesn't recommend unnecessary treatments in order to make money. I was told I'd receive an email referral for an oral surgeon but never did. When I called back to ask if the dentist could prescribe anything stronger--since I'm scheduled with another oral surgeon next week and was told I have an infection starting--I was told to just keep taking Tylenol and ibuprofen. I explained that I had already been taking 1,000mg of Tylenol three times daily before my visit and that it hasn't been helping. I came in hoping this would be a better temporary option than my usual dentist, but it wasn't. The $199 yearly insurance they offer was definitely not worth it for me. I also asked how much it would be without the insurance and to just pay for the one time service with x-rays & a cleaning and they quoted me over $700. I can't speak for all locations, but I would not recommend this one.
