Laurel Court Apartments is about 2 miles from DeLand's downtown area and it's surroundings have beautiful landscaping. Apartments are usually one bedroom and the community accepts only people from ages 60+. Rent apparently goes along with some sort of sliding scale and eating list is currently at a one year wait. That should tell you something about the place. Good, right? Only downside is that it's almost impossible to contact them by phone and management does not work on weekends, making it a bit hard for me to be able to take my mom to their facilities over the week. But other than that, my mother was able to talk to severa, residents and they all seemed pretty content.

There are many maintenance issues with the apartments which they are slow to resolve. I had to do a lease buy out of 2 months to get out of my lease due to many plumbing issues. I don't recommend living here and please never rent one of their apartments that has carpet.

Rusty gets off on threatening to throw people out. I even got a second car, and she didn't believe that it was working/registered to me. Because in her words you don't just have a second car and not drive it. So she demanded that I show proof of ownership. Even though I had offered to show her the multiple times she called me about it. But she said it was fine each time, then out of the blue she posts a notice on my door demanding my registration. I was over it, so I had to call her boss. Central management will be lucky if they do not get sued for harassment and invasion of privacy because of her. Also the rules don't apply to her or the people she likes. Per the lease you have to have your dog on a leash at all times. Well, Rusty can be seen walking around with her little dog free and off leash all the time. You are also not allowed to have recreational vehicles in the parking lot, however Rusty and her Husband have a camper parked in the parking lot at all times. You are also not allowed to work on your car in the parking lot, however she allows people to work on their cars all the time. But god help you if she doesn't like you, working on your car is a violation of the lease and is "grounds for termination". Just so many double standards and being above the rules.
