After my mother was misplaced from her home in…read morePuerto Rico, because of Hurricane Maria, we have been searching for places where she could potentially move to in a few months. Laurel Court Apartments is about 2 miles from DeLand's downtown area and it's surroundings have beautiful landscaping. Apartments are usually one bedroom and the community accepts only people from ages 60+. Rent apparently goes along with some sort of sliding scale and eating list is currently at a one year wait. That should tell you something about the place. Good, right? Only downside is that it's almost impossible to contact them by phone and management does not work on weekends, making it a bit hard for me to be able to take my mom to their facilities over the week. But other than that, my mother was able to talk to severa, residents and they all seemed pretty content.

Love, love, love Ashton Place! The property managers Karen and John are amazing. I really cannot…read moresay enough great things about the two of them. The community is safe, neighbors are the sweetest people I've ever encountered, the apartments are spacious and having your own little yard area really allows you to make your rental feel like home. I will be here for many years to come! In case you're wondering there is not a bug or critter problem here unless you count the many lizards and butterflies you can spot around the complex. Karen and John make sure the grounds are well maintained they even hold a flower contest each spring! I was a little scared at first with the A/C situation since my husband tends to run about 10 degrees hotter than the average person and therefore requires an almost Arctic living area, but the units work really well...almost too well! If you're looking for a safe and cozy place to live that won't cost you an arm and a leg each month, stop by Karen's office and ask for a tour, you won't be disappointed!

I've been living at Deland Commons for 9 months now, and it's been a truly positive experience…read more Maritza and Zulai are incredible and are always available and care about the residents. Any questions or issues are handled quickly and professionally. The maintenance team is just as reliable--quick, efficient, and courteous every time. When I was selling my home, I had a tough time finding an apartment that felt spacious enough--especially one that could fit a full-size couch. Deland Commons checked every box. It's roomy and comfortable, and the layout is practical and well thought out. One of my favorite features is the patio--it's large and inviting, and for me, it feels like having an extra living area. I spend a lot of time out there, and it really adds to the feeling of home. The location is a huge plus. I work locally, so being just minutes from downtown DeLand and having quick access to main roads makes life easier and more convenient. Like anywhere, nothing is 100% perfect--but Deland Commons comes close. Some residents have mentioned parking concerns, but the rules are clearly communicated from the start, and there's plenty of parking across the street. It's a short walk, and for me, it's not a big deal. Overall, I'm very happy here and looking forward to renewing my lease. If you're looking for a well-managed, friendly, and comfortable place to live in DeLand, I highly recommend Deland Commons

Rusty gets off on threatening to throw people out. I even got a second car, and she didn't believe that it was working/registered to me. Because in her words you don't just have a second car and not drive it. So she demanded that I show proof of ownership. Even though I had offered to show her the multiple times she called me about it. But she said it was fine each time, then out of the blue she posts a notice on my door demanding my registration. I was over it, so I had to call her boss. Central management will be lucky if they do not get sued for harassment and invasion of privacy because of her. Also the rules don't apply to her or the people she likes. Per the lease you have to have your dog on a leash at all times. Well, Rusty can be seen walking around with her little dog free and off leash all the time. You are also not allowed to have recreational vehicles in the parking lot, however Rusty and her Husband have a camper parked in the parking lot at all times. You are also not allowed to work on your car in the parking lot, however she allows people to work on their cars all the time. But god help you if she doesn't like you, working on your car is a violation of the lease and is "grounds for termination". Just so many double standards and being above the rules.
