I've been a patient with Dr. Casey for over a decade. I obviously value her services as my primary…read morecare physician and would recommend her to anyone. I give the doctor herself five stars. Since it's her name here only, I leave my rating unchanged. If I were rating the whole office, I'd deduct a star or two. My recommendation for Dr. Casey comes with just a few words of warning and advice: wait times are not good (especially if you have a mid afternoon appointment) and the office staff is not outgoing and warm. If you need these things at your doctor's office to be satisfied with your care, don't come here. If your priority is the treatment you receive from your doctor and the warmth of the receptionist is neither here nor there, absolutely request to be a patient. DR. CASEY WORKS IN AN OFFICE WITH ANOTHER PHYSICIAN, DR. CASEY. Yes, you read that correctly: Dr. Casey and Dr. Casey. Dr. Donna's father is Dr. Franklin Casey. Dr. Franklin is also an internal medicine physician and works in the same office. They share everything, including patients if you need to be seen and one or the other isn't available. When you call the office with a question for the doctor, you may be told she will call you back. The person who tells you this will not state a period of time in which this will happen so be advised, it may be a while. If you need a call back urgently, it is best to state so. I remain unconvinced that Dr. Casey's intention is to return every call the same day; more likely is that the person you're speaking with doesn't have the answer and needs Dr. Casey's help but will probably not seek that help immediately, if ever. If your question can be answered quickly and easily over the phone and you don't receive a call back within 3 office days (note that Dr. Casey is not in the office on Thursdays), call again. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS, DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. This is not a five-star operation: it's a five-star doctor with a two-star staff. If you've gotten this far and remain undeterred, you're a great fit for the office. Expect top notch care by a warm and positive physician. Dr. Casey seems to prefer natural approaches to healing before medicine whenever possible. She is empathetic, thorough, and efficient. Whip smart and funny to boot, you won't find a better or more qualified internist in Dallas!

**My username is an alias, for privacy reasons. I'm a legitimate patient**…read more Dr. Alvarez or her practice or both are either incompetent, insane, or badly run. I was recommended to Dr. Alvarez by a friend who is a patient of hers. My PCP sent over the referral. I was not allowed to make an appointment with Dr. Alvarez when I called them. First, I was told there had to be a "transfer of care" because I previously saw a doctor in their group (GI Alliance) two years ago. They said that the transfer was pending, a mere formality, and that I should hear back later that day. No one ever called me back so today, I drove over to their office. I spoke with the Office Manager, who flat out said Dr. Alvarez had looked over my chart and is refusing to see me. NO REASON WAS GIVEN. Huh?? That is a first for me. I've never been denied to see a doctor for non-insurance reasons. My PCP's office then called over to them and was again told about the "transfer of care". That's not what the Office Manager had stressed to me. Seems no one has any clue what's going on here and I still have no real idea why Dr. Alvarez is refusing to see me. I urge anyone wanting a referral for her to exercise caution...and consider looking elsewhere. Clearly, there is a lack of transparency here and no real evidence of a doctor who really cares...certainly not about future patients or their health.

Becoming a doctor granted me the art of being able to connect with people while treating their disease and/or ailments. In conclusion, patient's concerns and preferences are always a priority in my mind on forming treatment plans and I feel this is an important part to maintaining the patient-to- physician relationship and key to treating disease.
