I have another daughter who will be getting married next year. We've started looking for her dress. We had a great experience at the first place she looked and definitely have some front runners. She had an appointment on a Saturday morning. Five us were there with her. None of us could believe how bad our appointment was. I can't even call her a consultant. She was a flat out sales person. She didn't listen to what my daughter was telling her. My daughter could barely breathe in one of the dresses and the sales gal went on and on about the dress. She literally said to her, "I can tell you don't even want to take it off" as my daughter was saying how she couldn't breathe in it. She was pushing the look over comfort. Most of the time my girl didn't like the look or feel the comfort. Brides are in their dress for hours and hours on their wedding day so of course comfort is important. There was a dress that my daughter kind of liked. She pointed out what she didn't like about it. The sales gal said that all kinds of changes could be made. Now, I know that each of those changes cost money, but she never mentioned that fact. She was also not respectful of my daughter's budget. The sales person was extremely pushy, a little rude, and dismissive. She almost seemed angry that we didn't purchase something that day. I have a third daughter. When it's her time to get married, I know where we won't be going.

However I clearly stated my vision and I just don't feel like it was executed. We visited two additional bridal shops and the entire visit was like night and day. I found my dress elsewhere because I felt 100x more comfortable at the other places. While we were trying on dresses, another bride was at the counter. She was nervous and upset because her wedding was in 4 weeks and her dress hadn't even arrived yet. That is scary on its own. The manager was literally yelling at the bride and we could hear everything. It was SUPER unprofessional. Our stylist even apologized... the bride said to us "do not buy here". We listened to her, obviously we do not want to go through that if we have issues too. The bride was in a crunch and literally showed up at our next appointment - she bought a different dress at the other shop. Like I mentioned - our stylist was friendly, but I don't even remember her name. We didn't connect. I felt comfortable at the other places and got to know the stylists and had conversations with them.

The reviews online were subpar, so I remained hopeful, but with low expectations. I got a little lost trying to get there, but I finally arrive and the parking lot only had one car. She had a mask on the whole time and there was no one else there - my kind of wedding dress shopping experience! Beth had pulled some dresses based on my survey and she really did a great job! She was kind and gave me some feedback after I said how I liked the dress. I haven't made any decisions, but one dress Beth pulled for me is a serious contender.

Granted, all eyes will be on the bride, but I still wanted something pretty and sophisticated to wear to the event, without breaking the bank. After all, I am a senior on a fixed budget. A friend recommended David's for a great deal on clearance dresses. I was somewhat skeptical, but decided to try it. So glad that I did. I arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon, explained what I was looking for. The young lady (I wish I had gotten her name) was incredibly helpful and attentive, as if I were buying a $$$ wedding ensemble. I found a fabulous dress for less than $100.00, perfect fit, no alterations required. Now, I am off to find the perfect shoes. P.S. best part of all...a size 6!!!
