For some reason, I thought they had a full on brunch menu. Apparently that went out the window when they changed the name. The place used to be El Petit Comité. For the most part everything looks exactly the same. The food was good (open faced croissant with ooey gooey melted cheese and a slice of ham), coffee was better, service less desirable. I hate walking into places that I am made to feel like I am interrupting someone's very important job of doing nothing but standing around, looking busy. Some woman behind a counter standing there looking busy, doing I don't know what. I came in, said hello, asked for a table and she didn't even take a moment to look up or respond to my greeting. No smile, no "un momento, lo siento, perdon, hola" - NADA!! If customer service is your business, what could be so important that you can't even acknowledge your customer with a smile or a proper salutation? When she finally looked up, she said, "sit anywhere," still with a face that looked more irritated or bothered than anything.
There was no attention given to us. I had to practically stand up from my chair and wave my hands as if landing an airplane before she even looked our direction. And at the end of the meal, we walked up to the counter to pay, said thank you and good bye...to which she had no reply. I refused to be ignored, so I said it louder and made sure she heard me. She replied like it took away all her energy. attitudes of people who work in the customer service or the food industry is a big deal in the overall experience (for me).
