Have you ever seen the blue, tan, and white tiles that label the streets in New Orleans? This place offered numbers and letters to purchase individually. They also had tons of different tiles with decorations and pictures. I was drawn to the letter tiles as that is classic New Orleans to me. I choose a "J." The lady working asked if that was my initial. I told her yes and tried to guess my name. She wasn't successful but it was a fun game. She was friendly and had a great personality. I thoroughly enjoyed shopping there.

Ted scraped out the old original vinyl tile and laid the new tile. He did a great job. He told us where to go to get the best value on materials, he was polite and no nonsense, and he did a beautiful job leveling the floor and installing the new tile. The baseboards were installed at a later date so he didn't have an opportunity to caulk everything, but what he did, he did elegantly and very well.

Months later, I had to point out that the pieces were not finished the same. Only at this point, they admitted to using different suppliers for the already purchased stone. Noting, it was an unacceptable material and should not have been sold. They offered only one replacement. However, it was a darker color, so we had to adjust the design, other materials and colors selected months previously. Then there were delays in the delivery and once it arrived about 1/3 of the cartoons contained cracked pieces. Stafford counted 39 bundles containing at least one damaged tile. The frustration continued and due to a great installer we utilized some of the damaged pieces at my cost for additional labor. There was a lack of understanding and assistance by Stafford, and they refused to pick up the remaining damaged material. I thought a professional interaction could occur, but their General Manager was rude and inaccurate with her statements. In the end, the material was a compromise, created additional costs to the Client/Architect and a very frustrating experience.

I'm on the prowl for a pretty specific tile for my bathroom floor. Since this is the local big box…read morestore for flooring (that isn't general home improvement store) AND it's open on weekends/after office hours, this was one of my first stops. The layout is actually pretty easy to use. And the tiles are well marked as floor or wall or whatever. There are a LOT to choose from but I knew pretty much what I was looking for. I wandered through snapped some pics to consider later and was in/out pretty quick. They do have good sales on short stock in various locations around the store. Ultimately I didn't find exactly what I want so back to the drawing board.
