Bad Customer Service. Unprofessional. I made an online appointment for my husband, on the morning of the appointment, I got a text saying the technician would not be available due to a family emergency. I asked if someone else was available with no response. I then scheduled an appointment for the very next day and received the same text indicating a family emergency was preventing my appointment. I understand life happens. But the lack of communication and the lack of response when asked to reschedule is very unprofessional and I won't be back. I was waiting for my favorite multnomah co. barbershop to open back up but their phased opening was delayed. I was feeling antsy for a fresh fade and shave and remembered seeing this businesses name pop up. I went to their website and scheduled for the next availability and showed up on time with my face mask on. I was greeted by Saint B and she ended up being my barber. It was a really laid back and calm experience. Some barber shops can be inflated with so much ego from every body trying to drip or out swag everybody that comes through the door but this place was a different, they had some good jams from 80s and 90s gangster rap and hip hop. Their was another barber doing house keeping work and the owner of the shop was really appreciative of their duties, its always nice seeing how owners can pay homage to their employees. Back to Saint B, I signed up for a cut/hot towel shave. The haircut was amazing for my big round head and the fade was the gradient levels I was hoping for. The hot towel shave was very calming and left me baby booty smooth in the face, plus when the lathering was happening the massage from the application was what can I say? Therapeutic! I'd like to preface this review of Empyre with the fact that this one star review is not for any of the people in the store, nor for the haircuts I've received there. The stylists there are great/friendly, and the haircuts superb. The one star is for the fact that with the exception of the very first haircut I got there, I have had to wait beyond my scheduled appointment time, every...single...time. The longest wait was once over the summer- 45 minutes. After being told yet again at tonight's appointment that I would be waiting for an extended period, I'm done. If you guys are taking so long with every customer that you have to put off or cancel on those that follow, then you need to space out your appointments. Super clean barbershop and everyone is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately the way it looks isn't sufficient for a grandiose review. The haircuts are ROUGH. If you're going to come here you won't get what you ask for, and the cuts are never what you expect. It's definitely a haircut. The first time around it wasn't what I asked for but a fine enough cut that I didn't mind. But the second time was so poorly executed I came home and buzzed my head. Just got home from getting a cut here. Before I say the negative I will say that the staff here were professional and friendly. I booked an appointment to get a haircut and a wash. Told the barber how I wanted the cut to be, specifically told him that I don't want him to cut into my natural hair line at all to which I was told "yeah I got you man" Only to have him go ahead and cut into it anyway. I noticed when I got up and had to request a mirror to look at my haircut. I thought to myself I'm not gonna be the guy that complains in front of other customers and what's the point because you can't put hair back on someone's head anyway. We go back to where they have the hair washing station and I said I don't need shampoo I just scheduled the hair wash because I don't want to have to go home and shower again I want to make sure I get all the loose hairs off. So here I am at home about to get my trimmer and attempt to fix this weird ass shape up I was given, and then jump in the shower to get the hair out of my ears and hair.. Nice people but definitely won't go back or recommend anyone to get a cut there. Would have been cheaper to let Supercuts mess me up.. read more

The chairs are always full, so book online if you can. The shop is well lit and the stations are tidy. Most importantly, the line ups and fades are flawless. From the conversations in the shop, you can tell all of the barbers care a lot about their craft and their clients.
