If you're a guy like me and are looking for a solid cut at a reasonable price, this is your place. The wait is never long and the lady who owns the place is super nice and appreciative of her customers. A men's haircut is only $11 (used to be 10) and she always does a great job. read more

Want a quick, inexpensive, simple haircut? No styling, no chemicals, just shorter hair? This is the place. Popular, only one barber, so there might be a wait. read more

Great cut, always perfect, interesting barber talk, you will like this place, I am going over there right now.....

She's simply the best barber in town. She does a great job with my hair (and is really fast too!!)

Finally stopped by this morning after driving past this place for years. Just had the best haircut I can recall for the lowest price I've ever paid for a haircut. First time here and only had to give the owner minimal direction. Said I trusted whatever she thought looked nice. And it turned out great! She blended my sides perfectly! This from a guy who used to come home and trim up his fade right after getting back from a professional haircut. And all in less than 20 mins! I will definitely be back and will bring my kids. read more

been going to B on B for almost 6 years now. talk about a business you are happy to support! Chow (could be spelled wrong) is always quick efficient and inexpensive. This is a hidden secret for guys haircuts. read more

I've lived in Portland for 22 years & found this place only recently. Ms Chow is fantastic. I've read the other reviews & I have to tell you I do not agree w/ any of the "negative" comments. Ms Chow is quick, efficient & the price is right & yes, the vacuum after the cut is a stellar idea. It may be a bit awkward at first but yeah it works splendidly. If you need a reasonably priced cut done by a great lady, this is the place for you. Jim read more

I told the lady that I wanted it two on the sides and the three on top. She did a horrible job and I felt bum rushed read more

I have been getting my hair cut here for many years, she always pleasent and gives a great haircut. I highly recomend Barber on Barbur.

Quick n easy haircut done by a lady whos been in the business for thirteen years. The owner is very nice and even the more bizarre cuts or fades I'll sometimes ask for, she's always down to try something new. Cash only. read more

Just moved to the area and was looking for a new barber. Highly recommend coming here! She does a fantastic job and is quick. Can't beat the prices either, cheapest haircut I've gotten. It's cash and walk ins only, keep that in mind! read more

I've visited here twice and both times I was satisfied with my trim (which hasn't been the case at many shops). Firstly, she listens to you and does her best to do EXACTLY what you want -- creative liberties like at other shops are not done which I loved the most. Secondly, she is very skilled and knows how to adjust for your hair style rather than assuming. I pet peeve of mine at other Barber shops is the assumption because I have thick hair it needs to be thinned -- I absolutely don't like this. I'm glad it wasn't assumed here and one of the reasons I keep going back! read more

Bad experience for me. She positions the chair in way that you can not see yourself. You have to trust it is going to be an ok haircut. She talks a big game. It was strange. However, it ended up being a very average hair cut and beard trim. Sorry for the lack word, she had a nasty attitude. It left me with a sour mood. If the haircut was good, at least you could say she is talented - at best average to dull. So, it is ok to leave an unpleasant feedback (hate to do that). But, she was rude, took my money, left me with a bad haircut and a bad mood. So, she earned this awful review. read more

A cheap and quick spot for simple haircuts. If you're looking for a more complex haircut than this might not be the place for you. Cash only

Great experience! She made my boyfriend feel very comfortable even though he was nervous due to bad barber experiences in the past. We found this place last minute because of a last minute job interview. The walk in worked perfectly and he did not have to wait very long at all! She did a fantastic job and fit his hair to his style. Definitely recommend! read more

Chow cut my hair. Actually She fixed my messed up cut that I attempted myself. She was excellent, Friendly, fast and Priced right. I'll go back if I am ever on Portland. Why not 5 Star? Place needed sprucing up. Thanks Chow read more

I've been going here a little over a year, she just understands what looks good. Every time I get a haircut here I leave feeling more confident than when I walked in. read more

This place is awesome if you're after a cheap Hair cut! It's run by a really nice lady who does decent hair cuts really quick. You can't complain because for the $11 it's well worth it! read more

At 74, and lucky enough to still have hair on my head, I've pretty much been through it all when it comes to barbers, salons, and haircuts... and most rare is the "Artiste de Scissors" who just takes care of it with a great eye, a mininum of fuss, and real skill. That's the Barber on Barbur. She's a lovely lady, charges very reasonably by today's standards, and sends you home looking better than the last time you went anywhere else, including that $50 salon. read more

I was looking for a place for my brother to get a haircut, and I stumbled across this cute little barber shop on the corner of the street. She did a great job! Did exactly what we wanted, explained what she was doing, and always asked if what she was doing was okay. The pricing is reasonable, only $12, however she only accepts cash. She also vacuumed all the hair off of him, so he didn't need to shower after. When you walk in, she might seem a little questionable because of the nose & mouth mask she has on, but it's just so she doesn't get hair in her mouth. Overall great experience, we'll be going back again. read more

Amazing haircut. Affordable price. Fast service (even if there are people waiting). What else do you need? Once you get one cut that you like, she's like a robot, it will be the same each and every time. read more

I love Chow! (maybe didn't spell her name correctly...) Sweet lady, always a delight. No frills, affordable, consistent, quick. Crazy memory, she ALWAYS remembers how you want your hair cut. Bring cash! read more

really wish i noticed this place so many years ago. it's so close to home and the haircuts are good and cheap. no beer? not a big deal, there's a liquor store nearby. if you want your haircut for about $10 - from a nice thai lady who cuts well than dont' make the mistake of missing this place when you drive by. read more

Fast, friendly, good haircut, and cheap! All the things you would want. A steal at $12! Be sure to leave a tip.

My go-to place for a cut. The owner is very nice, and very engaging in conversation while she's working. She always remembers what her customers want, and will listen if you want to try something new, and does an excellent job with it. Sometimes the side burns or around the ears is a tad uneven, but it's a simple fix. For $11 and ~15 minutes, it's well worth it! read more

Fantastic haircut at a very reasonable price! I've been looking for a barber since mine retired and final found the perfect new place!

I moved to Portland over two years ago when I found barber on barbur and have gone there ever since... Chow is ALWAYS very nice and does a superb haircut.... and for $12.00 you cannot beat it.. wondering if the guy who's complaining actually knows how short a 2 and a three blades are??? And I'd give it a 5 star if she painted the inside a different color.... read more

I've been going here for my haircuts since I discovered the place. It's a small, one woman show, which is great talent-wise, even if you have to wait a few minutes. You can't beat the price of a $12 haircut in Portland. It's cheaper than the other Portland chains of barbers, and the owner does a far better job cutting hair than any of the other shops I've visited. She is amazing at fades! It makes me sad to move away, because this hidden gem consistently provides me with a barber I trust. read more

I've been trying random barbers around Portland, and every one has dissatisfied me in some way; the cut is uneven or looks weird and makes my head look like a triangle, the person is annoying to talk to, and/or it costs way too much. This woman is great. Did an amazing job with the cut, was a joy to talk to, and the price was lower than what I paid her. Also I was on my way after only 20 minutes or so. The vacuum cleaner at the end blew my mind; never had someone do that but it's such a good idea. Will definitely come back. read more

Very nice service and great haircut, the girl that works there is very friendly and she is very nice person.

My husband and two sons went in for a haircut. Despite no one else being in the store, she refused to do their hair because she doesn't do African hair and only has one comb, which is for straight hair only. So if you enjoy a place for only straight hair go here, but if you have curly hair or simply prefer a place willing to serve all types of customers, go elsewhere. read more

I've had two cuts here so far, and the cuts have been clean, simple, fast, and pretty good. When I've been in a hurry, and just need a nice clean up, I have to say, in terms of "bang for your buck", this place is great. $10 haircut? That even happens? And the lady is super nice and pretty funny, telling me all about this and that and her family. You'd be hard pressed to find a better cut at this price. read more

The nice woman who owns the business cuts your hair very quickly and well and for $11. As a result, I always tip her $4, because she deserves it. I haven't gone anywhere else since finding her a couple years ago. read more

My top pic for a great haircut. Friendly service, quick, and just an all around nice person.
