This was my first time trying Pilates and what a workout it was! I have sore muscles in places I didn't even know I had muscles! I really enjoyed the movements and the pace of the class. Dana was an amazing instructor! She is kind, patient, demos movements and is constantly moving around to keep an eye on everyone, correct form and encourage them. I really appreciated this being a total newbie! At the beginning of class she gave a quick overview of the reformer so you knew how to make adjustments and how to properly utilize cables. She also would give modifications for certain exercises incase someone needed them. Like most things in Atlanta parking can be a bit tricky ... but they send a welcome email to give you a heads up. Just show up a little early to ensure you find a spot and are on time to class. There is a paid lot or the neighborhood around there has some street parking, you might just have to walk a couple blocks.

I noted the cute studio upon arrival, and I got a strong sense of community. I appreciated how welcoming the students were, and you could tell that regulars were friends. The practice space was small and narrow, but there were about 20 people in my class and we fit comfortably. The room was heated but wasn't unbearable. Nya was an amazing teacher! She offered great cues, hands-on assists, and led a creative flow that had a mix of hip openings and balancing poses.

The class was for beginners and was ran by our Yoga instructor Doug. Very knowledgeable guy who was great at helping both experienced and brand new (ahem, me) yoga enthusiasts get the best out of their experience. The room is upstairs, clean with wooden floors and although your own yoga mat and towels are recommended, they provide both to you for your first visit. Classes go for about 90 minutes, you'll sweat, and if there's a stretch you can't do, the instructor comes over to either fix you posture, or offer assistance in the form of extra blocks, etc. Located off of Waddell St, Yoga Samadhi has a private gravel lot that can get full, but we found parking. Getting in and out of this place was no problem, and being close to Atlanta, it's a must try if you have even the slightest interest in Yoga. Good group of people who really are focused on delivering a great yoga experience.

The fact that your first class is free is just a cherry on top of the whole stretching and planking and namaste-ing experience. I've only been in the upstairs studio, which is clean, bright, and surprisingly cool given the hellish temperatures outside. They have plenty of blankets and bolsters to help you out if you need it, as well. My class was with Doug and he was great: didn't move too fast but wasn't painfully slow, always providing advice for how to make a move easier or more difficult. He was also always sure to give repeat instructions on when to inhale vs exhale: the thing I found most difficult. Plus, he complimented me at the end of the class, and yes, flattery will get you everywhere with me. I'm planning on purchasing a package dealio in the future and looking forward to repeat visits to Yoga Samadhi. I'm so happy to have it nearby, and so thankful to Katie W for convincing me to come along. My core muscles are much the better for it!

I know I usually do yoga when I'm stressed out, need relief, want to relax and challenge my body to connect with the earth and become more grounded in the here and now. It's a lot to deal with I'm sure for the teachers, and this is true for any yoga studio. Yoga Hive is extra amazing at empathy and empowerment. They challenge you, and you definitely will get in serious yoga shape, but in a compassionate, non-judgmental way. The yoga instructors are really good here, and I mean, REALLY good. The sessions are filled with beginners to advanced dancers who are beyond gorgeous with their postures, and everyone is celebrated. The instructors are top notch-- they support the super beginner to the professional dancer. It's a very diverse and vibrant community, which I just love so much.

The classes range from stretching meditative to challenging workout. I have tried the big chain type (which has many good features) to small, personal friendly studios to super strict and yoga-judgmental places (how can yoga be judgmental?) Anelise is wonderful, but truly, I have gotten a lot out of every class with different instructors. Summaya is also great; she is like my yoga touchpoint. It isn't conveniently located for me (live near Decatur and Work in Midtown), but worth the extra effort to get there (on weekends). They have classes early, noon and after work. You will enter Sacred Thread from the back parking lot, which has plenty of spaces weekend mornings and weekdays, but it is more challenging to park weekend afternoons and after work.

I recommend to bring your own mat and towel and water. Blocks are provided. Great class, smooth sign in process, and a really good workout. PARKING If you are coming onto Cain Hills Place from East Andrews, look for the business center on the left and then the alley way to the right of the store front (narrow steep drive).
