There was a mix of lecture type instruction and hands-on. They went into detail about how things worked and actually show it on the firearm as they go along. Every person got 1:1 time to practice correct posture, handling, etc before the range and then again on the range. We all shot a few rounds on four different guns which really helped give me an idea of what I might like. We had a wide range of experience and they handled everyone expertly. Never did I once get asked to slow down my cadence of fire and frankly I wish there more ranges like this in wa state. Im also over 6ft and heavy but had no problem taking offhand shots under the noise canopy at the public rifle range. Since I was last there the public pistol range has been significantly improved. The public rifle range has berms every 50yds to approximately 193yds with a steel plate at the back that perfectly matched the width of a usgi f marked fsp. The archery range is quite versatile and I wouldnt hesitate at all to recommend this range.

The parking lot was clean and the building is in good shape, though it could use a refresh. The staff was friendly, and the older gentleman who explained the range rules was engaging and easy to talk with. He took a little longer with me than I expected, but that likely had to do with a couple factors--either way, he was personable. My membership was reasonably priced, and because of my age I received a discount. Once I was in the range area, everything looked very clean and well organized, with clear signage and defined procedures. One difference I noticed versus Wade's: there wasn't a range master on hand in the same way to support guests and help ensure rules were being followed. After that finishing up in the range I headed back to the front in the retail area. I decided I wanted to buy a couple holsters. However, I stood at the counter for about 10 minutes and it became clear I wasn't going to receive service. The surprising part was that I was the only person standing there. At that point, I understand why I didn't get served, but it felt disappointing. And the irony is that I likely would have spent more money since the range desk experience elsewhere was great. No worries--there are plenty of other places to buy holsters. When I exited, I thanked them, but I didn't get a response (or they may not have heard me). Overall, I'm mixed on guest service... Since I'm a member, I'll probably give it another try.
