Here's the thing about buffets at smaller Chinese restaurants - they don't put out a lot of food, so that you get hot, fresh options. That is the case here. There were a variety of dishes, in both spicy and non-spicy. There were my favorite, crabmeat rangoons, although the first batch was cold. Luckily, the waiter came out and loaded more in, and most of the other entree dishes were refreshed while we were there. There are two kinds of soup, and a wide array of dessert options, if you're still hungry. Is it the best Chinese around? I'd head to Hunan Gardens, in Kalamazoo, for that. Update on my first review. Have eaten here many time since, dine in and take out and the food has been good each time. They no longer have the buffet which is not a problem for me. I prefer freshly made food over food that sits out for awhile with multiple people eating from it. The service is always prompt and friendly. I did hear the lady next to us complain that she received white rice when she requested fried rice with her meal, but I haven't had any issues and will continue to come back. read more

I don't expect much from buffets in general, this one was actually pretty decent. Selection is not huge but it was enough and food tasted good. I love shrimp and loved that they had at least four different shrimp dishes to choose from, huge plus for me. They keep an eye on the buffet and refilled food a little at a time with a fresh batch. They don't bring out a new huge tray of food to let it sit until it's gone. Adding a little bit more of a selection to desserts would be nice. Over all I'd go back. read more

I was visiting a relative and we ordered Empire Wok takeout. The Buddhas Feast was very salty and not flavorful at all, but the veggie lo mein was excellent and was even good reheated for leftovers. The noodles were a bit thicker than I am used to be the taste was spot on. Prices seemed very reasonable and portion sizes were great. read more

Won't be back. Crab Rangoon were all Rangoon handily any crab cream cheese. My husband got the Mongolian beef and the texture was not beef. It's a buffet...not a Michelin Star restaurant. If you're expecting to be treated like royalty find someplace else. In my experience - and I've eaten here a lot - the staff is friendly enough and attentive to your needs. The food selection is somewhat small for a buffet but so is the restaurant. The food is prepared well and I've definitely had worse at other establishments. If your looking for a decent, quick, in and out kind of meal this is the place. Got pork egg foo young the last time... egg patties not bad, but pork was over cooked and chewy. The gravy for it is disgusting! Tastes like cheap canned beef gravy. Shameful to serve such grossness. Not only did they forget plastic silverware for TAKEOUT (ended up having to go to Walmart) I don't even know how you manage to let fortune cookies go stale let alone serve to your customers. I'm scared to touch the food, if the fortune cookies are stale who knows what's wrong with this other stuff.. The first time I came here I loved it, obviously why I came back. The second we walked in the worker pointed to a table without saying anything, then quickly listed the drinks available. After we all said we wanted hot tea he just walked away. The buffet was pretty diverse, but none of the food was very good. It was all fine. The service was just awful and I won't be back again. read more

The food was very good. Not sure why bad reviews. I travel a lot and have eaten at many different Chinese buffets. This one is small but the selection decent and tasty. I think why everyone says they have bad service is because I do not believe the server or hostess speaks English very well and barely understands what you say except for drinks. I say if the foods good why worry about anything else it is a buffet. I gave 4 stars because of lack of communication abilities otherwise 5 stars. read more

Pretty average Chinese food fare, although the best in the area. We eat here once every month or so and usually order take out. The portions are nice; I really like that the combo platters come with your choice of white rice or fried and BOTH an egg rolls and two crab rangoons. The owner has always been pleasant, usually slipping a couple extra fortune cookies in the bag for our little one. The couple times we've eaten at the buffet instead of getting take out, the steam tables usually are not stocked super high like other Chinese buffets I've been to. This probably cuts down on waste and works for a small town buffet, but it was not slow that Saturday night and I wished there was more food out. The food itself is average, perhaps above average on a good day. I like the diversity of the menu, although every so often our take out meal will be lacking some quality, usually when I order something more obscure off of the menu. The popular dishes like sesame chicken never disappoint, however. I don't have much experience with the buffet, so I can't comment on the quality there, although I would bet it's more consistent because they cook those items on a daily basis, unlike some of the more obscure menu items that I prefer. We are the visually impaired couple who had a horrible experience with service at this restaurant yesterday. The owner took several minutes explaining why we could not have the buffet, even when we said it would literally take 1-2 minutes for him or another staff person to describe the items as we served ourselves. Then, when we were told we could not have the buffet, menu options were not even read to us. He literally made us choose the only item we could remember from the menu from our previous visit. We stayed since it would have been difficult to go elsewhere given our transportation arrangements, but mostly to document the entire experience. As a paying customer,the right exists to present the facts as we experienced them. Language is certainly a barrier, but that is no excuse for such poor service. Our money is just as valuable as anyone else's, and as such the quality of experience is also equal in importance to anyone else's, despite our situation. In this day and age, such a situation is not to be tolerated when the accommodation being requested was so simple. We will definitely enjoy Chinese food at another establishment, where reasonable service can accompany decent food, but it won't be here. read more

Staff is nice and prompt with service, yet the food has gone sub basement. Used to frequent a lot being a resident of Plainwell. Lost us as customers due to a so called remodel and change to a fusion menu. Found out they changed back to old style of service, and buffet but seemed to lose their old style of cooking with good flavor. Time to search for a new favorite in Grand Rapids or Kzoo. read more
