I frequent Panda Dynasty because of their delicious recipes. If the food was only so so, I would seek Chinese food from one of the many surrounding places. I do agree with the other posts. Ordered delivery through Yelp powered by delivery.com I guess and it took about an hour but it was on a busy night. I got chicken noodle soup, veggie fried rice and shrimp with broccoli. I'd say it's a good value and over all pretty solid. The shrimp with broccoli I've had in the past usually has a lighter sauce, this sauce was a dark sweet one more like I expect with beef and broccoli but it was good. The soup and rice were also solid and I'll be looking forward to giving them another try soon. read more

We ordered through Door Dash (cheaper prices than Grubhub) ordered chicken and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, and Mongolian beef. We also got wonton soup, steam dumplings, and teriyaki beef. I have a hArd time finding great Chinese. However, that being said, the Mongolian beef was super flavorful without being overly salty. The sweet and sour came with sauce on it, would prefer on side but was very good! Chicken and broccoli was plentiful and yummy. Wasn't too thrilled with the steamed dumplings (the filling wasn't all that tasty, wish it was more seasoned pork) and the dumpling's dough was too thick an mushy. The beef sticks were flavorful and good portion. And most importantly our Door Dash driver Karen was super fast!! Oh and the fortune cookies are awesome! read more

We just finished our diner from here and I've got to say hands down the egg rolls were the best I've had. My wife and I both got Kung Pao chicken and it was out of this world and my daughter loved the Lo Mein. We picked up an order of Chicken fried rice but the portions were enough we'll have to save that for lunch tomorrow. We were greeted quickly and with enthusiasm on this New Years day. We got our drinks quickly and ordered the Pu Pu platter to start - delicious! The kids were thrilled with the little fire pot in the center for decoration. We ordered the sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, hot and sour soup and bean curd with vegetables. First of all, nothing compares to Chinn Chinn (Asian fusion) or Nonla (Vietnamese) in Mattawan. But, there are times when, perhaps due to our poor time management, we find ourselves faint from hunger and don't have the patience or resolve to wait for a scheduled time for take out at Chinn Chinn. Or we figure Nonla's few tables inside will be filled and we know we will pass out on the sidewalk as we wait for a table to open up. So Panda Dynasty is our back up favorite for Chinese-American fare. We were fans of Panda Forest up until the restaurant merged with Ming Dynasty in '13. We also liked Hunan Gardens on West Main pre-'13, so we would bounce back and forth between the two. After the merger, we seemed to hit a rough spot of a run of miserable meals at Hunan Gardens, so we have just stuck with Panda Dynasty as our back up choice when hunger rages and we can't wait. The dining room always seems empty or near empty. I think 90% of the business Panda Dynasty does is take out. I think 90% of the time we do take out. Today, we were waiting for our order of Pineapple Shrimp and appetizers to take home and two brothers walked in to pick up $100 worth of take out. I don't think this is so much the restaurant as it's a miss communication between yelp and the restaurant. Ordered delivery through yelp. Delivery never went through and was never confirmed. After speaking with EatStreets and learning the restaurant uses a 3rd party delivery service - I decided to call the restaurant directly. At that point I learned from The restaurant that they don't even offer delivery. Never ate. Called EatStreets to cancel and get a refund which I did. But bummer. I come here often during lunch. Their lunch menu is very reasonable. Comes with an entrée, soup and a crab Rangoon. I ate Shrimp with Vegetables. What I like here is that their entrée is not starchy. This is one of the better Chinese places in the area. I like the beef with mixed vegetable and lo mein. The fried rice I got last time was overcooked, not sure if that is the norm though. The Tower of Babel Today we selected Panda Dynasty for a late lunch. We both sat down, my companion ordered Broccoli and Chicken which is probably one of the better things to have when you're watching your carbs. My companion ordered no rice and double broccoli. The server stopped and started some dialogue with us. No rice. We tried twice to request double broccoli and the server was frustrated because we said no rice. After two cycles where English was obviously not working, and our incapacity to speak Mandarin eliminated any pathway forward we accepted that we got the first order in. Broccoli and Chicken with no rice. I asked for the same thing because we were both attempting to keep carbs down to a minimum. The order came, by the book. Two plates and two servings of rice. So not only is there a profound language barrier, but also the kiss of death for a restaurant, a botched order. We ate the food, I ate one serving of rice because I didn't want to waste food. Both of us burned our mouths on inconsistently heated food, and the lack of understanding, the botched order and the attitude of the server, being bored mostly and clearly not wanting to do the job she was given all culminated in this $23.05 transaction being the last time we will go here for the rest of our days. The language barrier is becoming more and more of a problem with ethnic restaurants. There is no common language, so how can there be business? read more

We went here a few months ago and we were super disappointed because most of the reviews were really positive. We walked in and there were only a few other patrons (red flag #1). The service was sloooooow. My duck was pretty good, even though several pieces were cooked into oblivion. The rest of the food was inedible. Early on this became my favorite Chinese restaurant in Kalamazoo/Portage. Their food is very well prepared, incredibly fresh, and unbelievably tasty. There used to be another Chinese favorite on the other side of town but their consistency became an issue, something that had rarely been a problem here. My favorite thing to order is the Beef with Eggplant in Garlic Sauce. It is so abundantly flavorful and the eggplant is so amazingly fresh and well cooked. The sauce is tangy and a little spicy! I'm sad that I think the secret is out on that dish because they've run out of eggplant on two occasions! Their lo mein is also noteworthy, but ask for them to be light on the oil or it can be slightly greasy. I love the broth in their wonton soup and after surgery I was requesting just the broth because I loved it so much! What is it about Chinese food that makes it so synonymous with "take out"? My theory is over ordering and being able to eat left-overs for the next couple of days. That plus the take-out containers look cool. My go to here is chicken fried rice. One order will feed 2-3 people depending upon appetite. I like to combine it with an order of sesame chicken. One order goes well with the fried rice and comes with an extra side of white rice if you're in a serious rice eating mood. The spring rolls aren't bad but I don't recommend more than two per person. They're a bit greasy and can be overwhelming if you try to eat too many. The food here is good. Not outstanding but not bad either. Having partaken in some of the other local establishments, especially those with buffets, I believe the food here is better. Not above and beyond but definitely better. If you're in South Portage and you've got a taste for some Chinese cuisine, I'd give this restaurant the nod over the other Chinese food spots on this end of town. If you've got the time and really want an incredible asian fusion experience, I'd make a trek out to Mattawan and check in at ChinnChinn for a 5 star experience. Otherwise, if it's a Netflix night this place rates A-OK. read more
