I wish the owner Ella was available to do my hair... probably would have ended up being a great…read moreexperience. I contacted Ella via phone, but did not receive a response. So I went to the salon hoping she would be available. However, I was informed that she was off that day, but never received a response from Ella via phone. So I asked if any other stylists knew how to do short hair and if an appt was available today or if a walk-in was available now. Stylist Nikki had an opening later that afternoon. So, I left and returned for the scheduled appointment. My hair was not touched until 30 minutes after my appointment which was a negative sign for me because I am not use to waiting 30 minutes with an appt (15 min is understandable, maybe even 20 if it is not the norm and previous experience shows this does not happen often). I sat for a very long time at the wash bowl, maybe an additional 40 to 50 minutes... not because the conditioner was not ready to be washed out, but because she was still working on a client's hair. My hair normally air dries within 5 minutes and 15 to 20 minutes when mousse is used and I have to go under the dryer. However, I was left under the dryer for 1 hr and then was told to stay under the dryer for another 20min... again not because my hair was not dry, but because the stylist was still working on the same client's hair. This is what stylists tell clients when they are behind schedule. They make it seem like you need more time under the dryer or need to let a conditioner sit longer instead of admitting that they overbooked appts. Since my hair was dry, I lifted the dryer (refusing to continue to play the waiting game) and informed the stylist who confirmed it was dry. I tried to be understandable because my appt was made the same day, but the waiting game was ridiculous. The stylist could have said she has an opening, but there would be a wait or she could have said I do not have an opening today. I was extremely disappointed with the time it took from the beginning of my appt until the end. Women who choose to spend an entire day in the salon don't mind dealing with this type of experience, but I have never and will never accept this type of experience from a professional licensed stylist. Two stylists continued to drop combs on the floor and I watched them pick it up and reuse it without washing it off smh The price for a shampoo, curl, and cut was $65. I have short hair. So the cut was just to keep the hair off of my ears and neck to keep the short look that I like... the curls lasted for a few hours smh So my visit was a waste of time and money. Also, the stylists never engaged in any conversation with me which is not something that I'm use to. All she wanted to know is will I be booking another appt, which I declined to do so...

Very unprofessional. I have booked with the OWNER, Melissa, several times and I must I admit, I…read moreshould've never booked again after the first appointment. But let me explain: I first got my hair done by Melissa in 2015. I am natural and normally do my own hair, but I wanted to try a weave for the first time and her pictures (on StyleSeat) were good. So two weeks before my graduation I booked the appointment. On the day of the appointment she was 45 mins late. I waited, however, because my graduation was the next day and I didn't have any other choice. At the end of my appointment my hair looked great. I was completely happy with my install. So I decided I'd soon book again. Fast forward four months. I booked Melissa on StyleSeat again. Melissa cancels two hours before my appointment. Two weeks later, she cancels again. This time, giving about an hours notice. She calls after this cancelation to apologize. Apparently, Melissa didn't want to leave a bad impression because she had to keep cancelling our appointments. I thought, things happen. No big deal. I told myself I'd try again. So about a week later I booked again, this time for my 9 year olds birthday party. Melissa cancels the appointment online the morning of with no notice. I never heard from anyone. My daughter went to her birthday party in a ponytail. Completely furious with her unprofessionalism I stopped booking with Melissa for a while. Today, however, I thought I'd try again. I'm going away for a few weeks and was really looking forward to the convenience of a weave. Today I had a 6pm appointment with Melissa for an install. Like the first appointment I waited, and waited, until finally I search the shops Facebook page and found a number. I called and what do you know, Melissa answers the phone. She doesn't even know about an appointment and the shop is closed for the day (not reflected online.) All I could do was laugh and hang up the phone. I couldn't be disappointed or even upset for wasting my time. I've come to find this type of unprofessional, blame it on StyleSeat behavior typical of Melissa and will never again patronize her salon. I'm all for supporting black owned businesses, especially those owned by young, black women. But as someone who works with small, minority owned businesses everyday I'll tell you Blush is by far the worst I've ever experienced. Bad customer service from an employee is one thing. But when the owner doesn't care about customer service, that's saying something.
