In September 2018…read moreHurricane Florence hit; our home did not flood but was badly damaged, eg: roof damage, collapsed interior ceilings, etc. The damage to homes caused by Florence was extensive in our area and my husband & I realized supplies and contractors would be in short supply. So, we made the decision to pack up our Ford pickup w/tools and supplies along with our 26' RV trailer in tow, and 2 dogs, we drove from San Diego, CA to Jacksonville, NC in 5 days to meet up with our claims adjustor. We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies. After several days of cleanup and hearing discouraging reports that supplies and contractors were in short supply, our ray of light and hope emerged when we met Carey, the owner of Under One Roof Construction. I had seen him drive up to inspect the roof across the street from us. My husband & I made it a point to talk with him to see if he could help us out. We immediately took a liking to Carey. Knowledgeable. Easy going. Established family business. Carey, gave us a reasonable roof estimate; we gave him the job. Carey brought out his roofing crew, some who had been with him over 10 years; you could tell how they instinctively worked together. They installed a new beautiful roof. He and his crew were very professional. They picked up all their construction mess and used a magnetized roller to pick up any roofing nails in their work area. We were quite impressed w/their roof competency, products, and warranty that we asked Carey if he had a construction crew who could help us with the damaged interior work. Carey, again, came through; he worked us in to his VERY tight schedule. So, we contracted w/him for the interior damage caused by Florence, including interior sheetrock tear down, installing new insulation, rehung new sheetrock on the ceilings, interior priming and painting, etc. Carey and his crews did all the big stuff. We are forever grateful. 3 months of exhaustive labor took its toll on my husband (70 yrs old) and myself (64 yrs old). The events that led up and followed with Carey coming to our aid was literally an answered prayer; a small miracle. In addition to Carey, we recognized several small miracles during our Florence trip including our drive back home when our truck broke down in Anniston, AL a week before Christmas Eve....but that's another adventure, for another day.

Please be aware of this company.I had a new roof done by another company and they didn't do gutters…read moreso hired Campbell precision roofing to do my seamless gutters and let me tell you it was a complete disaster.They got the job done fast but ripped a shingle on my new roof and ruined the new drip edge around the perimeter of my roof.Daniel did fix the shingle but when trying to fix drip edge the underlayment was all torn up and they straight up lied to me that all went well but when I lifted up shingles when I got home it was obvious that it wasn't repaired properly and my new roof is now compromised and my drip edge looks like a beaver attacked it and Daniel no longer willing to work on a solution (ignores messages) but honestly it's ok cause I would never let these people near my house again.and remember this roof system was only 4 weeks old.I have never left a bad review but when a company damages a new roofing system and lies in the process I feel it needs to be out there for others to see.

Owning property is never a dull moment!…read more During a heavy storm, the tenant in my loft let me know that there was water dripping inside along the wall. The age of the roofs on the property is unknown and always being concerned for ANY leaks, I immediately got into Yelp to put out a project request to find a roofer. Storm Damage responded right away on a Sunday and was able to meet the next day to give an onsite estimate. Given the steep roofline of the barn house style roofing and immediate need given another upcoming storm, the quote was definitely reasonable. Given the short notice and upcoming weather, they put a tarp across the roof to prevent anymore leaking. At the first break in the weather 2 days later, they were on it and got to work. It's a tight area around the unit, so giving a heads up to my neighbors was important. That said, they cleaned up all debris on my side and my neighbors as if they were never there! Huge!!! I have a roof on the main property and a permanent shed left to do. I will be sure to call them back for the next jobs. Thank you guys!!!

TL/DR: Merritt Roofing has completely eroded my trust in their products and service. I do NOT…read morerecommend. 8-months after installation, we still don't have a roof we can trust, and they seem to be done supporting me. We did our due diligence and spoke to several roofing companies before committing to Merritt to fully replace our roof. We liked the salesperson/Project Manager, Jason (who was fairly new to the company, but being mentored by another, Bryan), and the price was in the middle of the pack (just over $10K). We even went ahead and paid extra for the "Platinum Coverage" for added piece of mind. We did everything we could think of to receive a good quality service/product. August 2025 - The installation crew did such a bad job on our roof that Merritt have since told me (as if it would put my mind at ease) that they will no longer work with that crew. That's fine for the next folks, I guess, but doesn't help us at all. I understand that they do still work with the contractors of the crew, just not those exact installers, so no guarantee that the way their other crews behave will be any better. We were also surprised to find out that Merritt contracts in installation crews, as part of what we were hoping we were paying for by going with a large, named company was a dedicated installation team. We could have hired random contractors ourselves. The edges of all of the shingles at the ends of the roofs were cut so badly that they were crescent-shaped, and the shingles underneath were exposed. There were a number of chunks taken out of the shingles by carless ladder placement. One of the crew had decided to fix part of a gutter that he had dislodged by shooting a bunch of nails into it, shooting a nail through the bottom of my gutter in the process, and causing a leaking gutter. They had also cracked the soffits (The vent underneath the edge of the roof), and it was just hanging out. They hadn't even tried to repair it. Although this has now been put back in place, it is still cracked. There were numerous other issues with the installation, but the team packed up and left without saying anything to me, and the Salesperson/PM wasn't around either. I called the Salesperson/PM when I went outside to look at the roof, and let him know that I saw some issues with the roof. He came over and agreed that it wasn't acceptable. The team was called back to address, and one of them showed up. He replaced a couple of shingles, and then tried to leave again. He made it clear we weren't happy with the edges of all of the roofs, and that they needed to address. It was scheduled that they would come out a few days later and replace all of those shingles. So immediately we went from having a new roof to a repaired roof. When the team did come to repair the roof, they were supposed to start at 8:30 am. The first person finally arrived at 10:20 am. and they starting working at around 10:40 am. Once the repairs were completed I pointed out some areas I wasn't happy with, and was put in touch with Garrett Zarecky, the Merritt "Production Manager" and was told that they would settle in the next couple of months. Garrett scheduled a date with me at the end of September to come and inspect the roof. He also made a number of comments along the lines of "If we need to replace the whole roof, we will" and that he would check inside our attic space, if he felt it necessary. September 29th 2025 - Garret game to inspect the roof, did not go inside the attic, despite saying he would. He told me something along the lines of "I wouldn't be able to see any issues from in there anyway". He also noted a lot of my concerns, but told me he was happy with how the roof looked and how it was performing. He assured me that this roof was as good as new, despite admitting that they no longer worked with the crew that installed it. Nov/December 2025 - I was cleaning the gutters, preparing for winter, and noticed that there were still a number of shingles that had scuffs and even gouges out of them. There was also the head of a nail pushing through one of the shingles at the back of the house, close to the edge. There were a numbers of other issues with the way the shingles lay and looked cosmetically. I reached out to Jason, Bryan and Garrett, the Production Manager. Jason had left the company, which seemed odd for a person who had only started there a few months before, so Bryan came out to inspect the roof. He agreed that it looked like the shingles had been damaged in some way, possibly as a defect in the shingles, and asked Garrett to inspect the roof. Garrett told me that the damage wasn't caused by a defect, but by foot traffic. The fact that there had been enough foot traffic on my roof in the days after it was installed to cause damage, seems to be another indication of how poorly it was installed. Merritt's "Repair Guy" (Garrett's words), Alonzo, came out in December and removed large areas of shingles, replacing them

Lesson learned get a itemized list of the material they are suppling. Gutters were not installed correctly first rain and water was pouring down on the porch had to send someone else to fix the issue. UPDATE: Owner called me and after discussing my experience with the gutters sent a manger out to fix the issues and has revised my bill, they have resolved my issue. Well, Hell I've already texted them once and received no reply so I left a message. It has now been 10 days since my initial contact with this company and nothing but crickets. I guess they make so much money they didn't feel the need to contact me and try and earn my business.
