He now has a new worker, which wasn't a thing before, since Jimmy did all the work himself--kudos to him . So one day, I'm at the shop for a simple regular oil change and decided to upgrade to synthetic upon Jimmy's recommendation ("lmao"). Next thing I know, he's inspecting the 150cc and decides to change the brakes, without consent; what are you doing?! He looks at me with a funny face , rolls his pointer finger to show me how bad the brakes were (they were done, done ). I said, "Damn Jimmy, you could had least told me first." It's all good; he's crafty at this game. They were completely done. Glad he saw the problem and fixed it immediately! #ThxJimbo #IMAO! #ThanxJimmy

Still one of the best mechanics in New York City that will service your scooter. The owner is surly…read moreand not always a very pleasant guy but he knows how to fix your bike or will tell you the bad news when the bike can't/isn't worth the money for the repair. If he doesn't have the parts for his bikes, he will help you order than and you'll be back on the road once he gets the parts. Even though the customer service can leave much to be desired, the prices are super reasonable, the mechanics are honest, and there are no lies (which is surprisingly rare for mechanics in NYC). I have had him service three different kinds of scooters and now my motorcycle and have always had good results. If you call, he will sometimes say he is too busy to work on a bike and it is easier if you just bring the bike in. Zoom Scooter is also one of the cheapest shops to pick up a motorcycle helmet, and most of their helmets are HJC, so they are DOT and ECE approved helmets (not crap helmets). The guy also sells some other motorcycle and scooter accessories like NY State approved sunglasses and chains, rain covers, etc. Zoom Scooter also sells scooters, however the stock of these scooters aren't consistent and often times they are sold out of bikes. It is best to call to see what they have available. Zoom Scooters only sells GAS POWERED SCOOTERS and NO ELECTRIC SCOOTERS ARE SOLD HERE. Somethings to note: The shop is CASH ONLY. Yelp has it flagged that he takes credit, he does not take credit and will direct you to ATMS nearby. Come with cash if it is a simple thing like changing engine or gear oil, coolant, brakes, changing out a light or spark plug, etc. If its going to be service that needs parts, I would ask for a price then come back with money when the job is done. It is best to leave your phone number when you leave a bike so he can call back when the job is done. The hours of business are 10am-6pm everyday from Monday to Saturday and the shop is closed Sunday (yelp hasn't updated).

Before bringing my car in, I spoke with Daniel and explained that my car alarm had been going off randomly. I asked if they had a diagnostic scanner, and he said yes. I was surprised when I asked about the diagnostic fee and he told me it was free. Most auto repair shops and dealerships I have dealt with charge for diagnostics, so I truly appreciated his honesty and generosity. Daniel was also very friendly and asked for my name during our phone conversation. When I made the appointment, I let him know that my husband would be bringing the car in. When my husband arrived at the shop, Daniel remembered my name, which was such a nice personal touch and showed how much he genuinely cares about his customers. It took about 90 minutes to diagnose the problem, and they found that a loose latch on the driver's side was causing the issue. They tightened the latch, and when my husband asked how much we owed, Daniel told him there was no charge. We were both completely surprised and incredibly grateful! Daniel was friendly, professional, honest, and provided outstanding customer service from beginning to end. Auto repair shops like this are hard to find, especially ones that don't try to make a quick dollar off every customer. Essential Auto Care has earned my trust and my highest recommendation. Thank you so much, Daniel, for helping us solve the mysterious problem with our car alarm that kept going off randomly. I truly appreciate your kindness and honesty. If you are looking for a trustworthy and customer-focused auto repair shop, I highly recommend Essential Auto Care. You won't regret coming here!

I came here with an A/C issue -- warm air, no cooling. They…read moredidn't confirm what the actual problem was but went straight to performing a refrigerant recharge for $235.86, without checking whether the system could function properly. I mentioned that the system had pressure, but no one explained that a recharge wouldn't help if the compressor wasn't working. As a customer, I didn't know the compressor status -- that's what I expected them to diagnose first. After taking payment and completing the recharge (which didn't solve the problem), they told me I had a refrigerant leak. But how was that diagnosed? With the compressor not engaging, there was no circulation, no dye test, no vacuum hold -- just a guess after the fact. They later explained that the recharge was done "to see if the compressor would engage" -- but I had already told them there was pressure in the system. Skipping basic electrical tests and charging for a recharge first is not professional diagnosis. What I received was uninformed consent: I agreed to a recharge without being told it was unlikely to help unless the compressor was working. As a customer, I relied on their expertise to guide the process -- but they failed to explain this critical limitation. I wasn't given a service report or receipt during the visit -- both were sent the next day, after I posted a review. Their mention of a refrigerant leak was never documented, and no leak detection tests were performed. It felt like an after-the-fact explanation when the recharge didn't solve the problem. Their process seems designed to create more work (and more charges) instead of solving the actual problem from the start. Rather than diagnose the issue first, they sold a service that couldn't fix the underlying fault -- leading to more expensive steps later. Professional mechanics explain what they are doing and why. In this case, I paid for a service that couldn't address the actual issue, and was told I'd need to pay again for proper diagnostics. If your A/C isn't working, ask exactly what they'll check before you agree to anything. I won't be coming back.

That's one whole month wasted time. I have had to call three times, after my father went over there three times to resolve the situation. All messages were ignored, and the owner never called me back. Meanwhile, our claim was denied because Amazon's insurance needed an estimate to proceed with the claim. Now, we have to start all over again with another body shop. This place is irresponsible and non-communicative. I do not recommend, definitely not. It has one star because I had no option for zero.
