Do you know why pawn shops have such a terrible reputation and must be regulated by the state? it's because of shops like Empire Loan. For the nay sayers, it is completely reasonable to agree that all businesses must make a profit in order to continue to operate but the shear and enormous discrepancies between actual cash value and Empire's offers are akin to robbery. After such a bad experience I feel compelled to tell everyone I encounter never to even consider using Empire Loan if you are considering or are in need of some short term cash. read more

Went in to pawn some camera gear and they were very helpful and straightforward. I believe that the loan amount that they gave me were very fair, considering that they were electronics. You're pawning after all and they can't give you top dollar. You can pay your bill online, which is convenient, but they charge a 3% fee. If you're new to pawning, like I was, they explain everything to you from the ticket to how to pay the interest and how you can redeem your items back. Would definitely go back, if necessary. I do like the location, handful of parking in front of the store, inside looked very new and clean. All the staff have been very professional. Edit: 1/26/2015, I felt the need to update my previous 4-star review to a 5-star review because it didn't feel appropriate to say that it was "as good as it gets" if I'd only had minimal experience with Empire Loan. Since my review, I've had to make several phone calls concerning my loan, and each phone experience has been very pleasant and friendly. I appreciate that. Sometimes, businesses can make you feel that you're either bothering them or annoyed but Empire Loan - Lynn has been very courteous, both in person and through phone communications. I feel very confident that Empire Loan - Lynn deserves a 5-star review. I hope they keep it up. read more

So i watched a few videos of the shop on youtube. So i decided to go there and see if they had any interest in items. First glance saw nobody in site to welcome me. Walked around and hear to people talking to each other each other behind the glass and still no greet or nobody to help me. So took it upon myself to walk up to the glass and say hi. Took the gentleman a few to even realize im there. I say gentleman because i did not know his name. Great customer service. Anyways asked if he had some interest in my items. The response i got was if my items were junk picked from the trash. They were some collector items. To me i thought this was a pawn shop not just a jewelry shop. So my first visit will be my last. Terrible experience will never walk in or tell anyone i know to walk in there. read more

Went to Market Street Emporium and got $900.00 for what he offered me $50.00 for. Moral of story-stay with your local private pawn shop. Empire Loans-you are not Longs Jewelers. Their new advertising campaign to buy designer handbags is a joke. The staff doesn't even know what a high end bag looks like let alone how to price it. They try to find it online while you stand there. I see it online for $500 and they tell you it's not worth anything and your item is in poor condition. There's no "authenticator" as they advertise...no magical machine...as they lead you to believe. They'll give you 20 bucks for a $900 bag and $30 bucks for a diamond faced Movado watch. Meanwhile the crackhead behind me got $410 for a broken chain that he pulled out of a pill bottle. read more

worst absolutely worst service the guy was loud and obnoxious I called ahead and they gave me a quote over the phone for my 1400.00 iMac I simply wanted a loan for 150 they told me to give the serial number I did aswell as explained in detail it had small scratches on the back they tell me bring it in for 100 bucks I drive down with my 2yr old walk in no one greets you to feel comfortable a guy litterly yells from behind the counter for me to put the iMac on the display case he starts looking at it and tells me he needs the wireless keyboard I go back out to my car with my son get the keyboard walk back in and he tells me they only except perfect condition imacs mind you it has 2 light scratch marks on the back he offers me 25 bucks on my 1400.00 iMac what a scam wasted my time pretty much insulted me to make a long story short I went to Malden place called art Carl jewlers the guys were super friendly made me feel comfortable I explained I needed 150 towrd my sons birthday party and they gave it to me no hassle best service there honest and after leaving empire loan I have no idea how they are even open there advertising is completely false and any good reviews on here for empire loan have to be fake there's just no way anyone can be satisfied being ripped off and disrespected I never write reviews but after this experience I made all the effort to make sure there is no comparison please go to another pawn shop they are so much better just compare and find out for yourself read more
